Thanks for the great video - as always. I love seeing the less mainstream watches. I think the Summit score mentioned earlier in the comments is a great idea. Keep up the great work!
I have had this watch for 3 months and I’m very impressed. I like the size , the rugged design. I like the fact that I can speak via the watch when taking a phone call, sound quality I clears. The screen display is bright and very cleat, no issues either health app ( sounds like you have an issue on your phone). Above all I like the fact that I can charge this watch knowing that it will last 4-5 days without having to recharge again, this the like of Apple and Samsung fall down badly on.
I owned this watch for long time, I really like the look(marbel/white), I wear it 24/7, very comfortable and have everything I need, many times I was looking for new watch to replace honor gs pro but I don't see reason and I can't find enything I may like, they improve huawei app so there is no issues, great watch, i recommend for someone who looking for thought smartwatch, great review!!!
Of course, It did add value to my life. And don't make fun of Belly Dancing, I do that 3 times per week. Strong core, strong runner. :-) Great video as always.
Huawei on it's own was the show stopper for me as well. That said, it's a pretty cool watch. The app reset issue is odd, but feels like a quick fix. As well as the data export. Fix those things and you have what could be a serious contender. Especially for a watch that's
I have this watch in "Marl White". Awesome feature set for the price. Even though I dont have the app setting reset issues (I'm on Andoid), I agree with you on the lack of activity export/Strava link. At the moment I only use this watch as a casual watch, OR as a music player (paired with Galaxy Buds Pro) when I run in a safe run park (lasted ~5+hrs on my longest run). I really like this watch, if it had Strava link, it could have been my go to training watch.
An idea: how about creating a scoring system for the watches you review. A ‘Summit Score’ of sorts for categories like build quality, comfort, display, battery life, features, accuracy, ecosystem compatibility and cost etc?
Yes you can just tap the screen long press and change the screen , and regarding first page create account for huawei I guess it will solve the problem
Hi Andrew, does this watch let you view any missed notifications during a workout? If you're jogging & miss a notification, can you see it without ending the workout?
@@LaurenceGough I’ve just finished today’s workout, and I’ve tried to do as you asked. The answer is NO, it is not possible to access your notifications during a workout. Thanks for the question! I haven’t tried this before.
Haha, the app reset drives me crazy as well... I like Honor and actually tested and found the Honor Band 6 very accurate in running and at the pool. I Wish there was a way to export the data out of the app... great review, as always!
Very good review! Though i also think: The couple of data migrations I ve done were never really perfect (Runtastic, Polar PT, Polar Flow, Garmin Connect) and probably most people wont mind having their data only in one place and wont take the pain of migrating anything (even if they change the "ecosystem"). A graphical extraction of the GPS/ heart rate data is definitely possible (for the comparison), even with a good accuracy (f.i. with a CAD-App)... but surely also extremely time-consuming...
Migrating is never fun but it's possible on every other platform. More importantly if you're a Strava or Training Peaks user you need to be able to get your activity files! I considered overlaying them in photoshop but it seemed imperfect. Thanks for watching!
with everything on including fitness apps for swimming, taking calls, timer, constant connection with Bluetooth for weather, messages and more, minus gps, I got just a few hours under 22 days on a charge. More than happy with the battery life and the performance of this watch, and ease of use.
I ordered it , was excited about it when I realized it only works as a watch if its paired to the phone i sent it back . Cool watch , looks great feels awesome on my wrist but i wanted a smartwatch which works independently .
Thanks for the review! I have a question for you. I had a Huawei watch (the GT 2 pro I think), and it was a great watch. For the most part, the watch worked well, but there was one huge flaw for me. There was only one notification type. So, that means that a calendar notification and a text message both look like the same notification type. Additionally, if I missed a notification, there was no dot or anything to tell me there were notifications I hadn't read yet. And, to top it all off, I couldn't do anything with the notification other than clear it. I'm very used to being able to respond to a text message (even if it's just a prepared response), or delete an email from the message options. None of that was available. So, my question is, does this watch suffer from the same thing?
Great video and subscribed to you. Do you know if you can disable the phone and message features on this watch. This watch is available for £110 in the UK which makes it more attractive to buy.
It's certainly lower power than a typical LCD display but when compared to a sportswatch like the Garmin Fenix 6 or COROS Pace 2 for instance those use transflective MIP displays that are extremely low power which allows them to last for weeks on a charge. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, brought this watch in the UK, unable to connect to the honour health app, it says devise not support when scanning barcode off the watch screen. Any advice please 🙏🙏
Hi Buddy, I just came across your review 11 months later. Do you know if they managed to fix all of those issues you've mentioned in your summary? Good review btw!
Hello Seen both your videos, this one for the Honor watch gs Pro and the Amazfit Stratos 3 Since you had both reviewed separately could you make a video in comparison with each other. Would love to hear your take on it as I can't decide which one to get. Cheers!
Other than the export issue Huawei watches are as par with amazefit. I almost purchased a Huawei gt2e, as soon as i find out no data export ability change my mind. Waiting to purchase garmin FR245 in July.
@@ChaseTheSummit hahaha yeah pal! hahaha Im pretty happy with that, i was wondering to bought another watch even likeing the gs pro hahaha Now i dont need it anymore
@@ChaseTheSummit i dont know about ios. note that health sync is a separate app. i also compared hr with hr on the stratos coupled with the polar h9 and the gs pro gave very close readings except for the first minute or so of the run
Hi! Nice videos! Btw i wonder is there any maps? Like can i use these watches while cycling to watch where im on the map? Like with Google Maps on a smartphone
@@ChaseTheSummit Thank you for the answer. I was looking for smart watches with Maps and found that GS Pro has GPS so i thought it has Maps Navigation as well. I almost ordered it due to enormous battery life but Maps is crucial for me :/
Hey Mate. Good to see you with this watch review. How can you compare to epix 2 or venu 2 plus? I know thats just different device but battery life and price(140€) and.... Calling is a great watch for this Value. Curently for Daily use nwearing samsung gear s3 but battery life is drama. Sometimes 2.5 day. Very offtend happend me that battery was low after 15h.For sport i use cheap. Amazifit bip and also adidas running app. If i have pay about 1000$ for fenix or epix 2 without calling function like make me siick. I use many time at work or also. While playing tennis. Can leave my phone in a bag and easly olaying and calling without wrist close to my mouth. I ve Got also question about screen. Many fenix users Fall in love in epix screen (not for colors) it s easier to. Read on fully Sun besause sapphire Glass in light rays are reflected. Ps if you have gwałt syncs app is possible to. Export data to. Strava or other Service.. Thx again for brilliant review(like always). Best Regards.
Honor Watch GS Pro is nice but no where near the level of the Venu 2 Plus and the Epix is of course in an entirely different league (and price point). I think if you're interested in a smartwatch with some sports features it's a viable option but like I said I'm not thrilled with the app or third party integration on IOS devices. Thanks for watching!
The only advantage to an on-board altimeter is that you can view your elevation data in real time. This is helpful if you're trying to see how close you are to the summit of a mountain or just want to know your total elevation gain for a given route. The watch sill still collect GPS based elevation data when you sync it to Garmin Connect so there's not much of a difference there.
Exactly same sensors and software as the Huawei Watch GT2 (I’ve been wearing one since Feb/20). Unfortunately it doesn’t connect with anything else (Strava, etc) nor export .GPX or .TCX files. And it lacks some basic sports features such as set laps or intervals. And it also lacks connectivity with external sensors, and the interface with iOS is very poor. Hey Dave would you like to exchange your Coros Apex Pro with my Huawei GT2? Hehehe
Hola,,, soy carlos de argentina y queria saber si este reloj puede bajar los track a algun mapa con imagenes satelitales, y no solo a un mapa con calles y rutas... gracias
I have the honor magic watch 2 as my smartwatch/semi-fitness tracker and I can say yes the music portion of it is only supported on Android devices. Matter fact alot of features for this watch is based off of Android devices. You ate very limited on what you can do on an apple device. You can store music on the watch and play it directly on the watch since it has a speaker and you can answer calls on the watch, just can't make outbound calls. You can also pair your ear buds with the watch but I have not tried this feature out yet since my daily driver is the forerunner 945. For customizations it is also very limited as most data charts/fields can not be edited/customized. The watch faces are limited as well but more options are on Android devices.
it's often the problem with those Chinese watches and fit bands (and i used few) - no support for other platforms. Xiaomi recently added strava support for Xiaomi Wear so maybe huawei will follow. As of now, imo, good HW is trapped by poor software.
My friend thank you very much for this excellent videos!!! If you have the possibility to connect with Strava do you propose this smart watch for a someone who don't want to give a lot of money!!! In Greece this model cost 150 Euro!!!!
@@ChaseTheSummit I went with the honor GS pro, really liked it so far. In Android you can export your data using Health Sync. Thanks for the recommendation
Wow, which brand doesn't support "find my phone"?! That would be a showstopper too :-P Battery life with always on amoled is really interesting. Based on the gps track, maybe it saves some energy by not taking gps measurements every second, but it is just a guess.
I'm assuming the app just "smooths" the track out to make it prettier on the map. I bet the raw data is more accurate but... who knows?! The distance at the end of my runs did fall in line with my other test devices at least. Thanks for watching!

Does this watch let you view any missed notifications during a workout? If you're jogging & miss a notification, can you see it without ending the workout?
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks. I must admit most people have said it can't but a few have said it can. During mid workout right without ending it? And viewing missed notifications too during mid workout? Thank you
@@LaurenceGough sorry I misread your first message. You’re correct. You cannot view phone notifications during a workout. You need to end the workout to see them. Sorry for the confusion.
Once it´s a watch more into the "big size area", why comparing that just with 42mm watches? Sorry, this is a great review but I did not get the point with that comparison...
Such a pity of the lack of connectivity with other applications. Huawei makes nice devices, but always with a lock in to their own ecosystem unfortuantely.
Biggest flaw is the terrible GPS connecting time. Can last up to 2 minutes or so.....even after having exchanged the CPU within the warranty no improvement.....
Dont buy this, you prefer to buy Garmin or Amazfit Stratos. The GPS is SU*K, I need 3 minute to get GPS for Running and the GPS tracking for Run is SU*K. But if you use for cycling it'# good, i dont know why. FU*K I regret to buy this Smartwatch!!!!!
Both Xiaomi and Huaweii ignore Strava. I can't understand their CEO's actually think they can push their own platforms (which are not that good) and don't get it that a lot of customers from the Western Countries are not going to buy their watches simply because they are lacking a strava sync.
@Driya Amandita the new app xiaomi wear which came out with the mi watch doesnt support strava and I beleive it is used with band 6 and 4c. I dont know if you can add new devices to the old app
Been using it for 4 months then sold and replaced with Fenix 6X... Not bad as a smartwatch, impressinve battery life, notifications, phone calls possible... But s**k as a sportswatch - no gpx export, no external platform sync. Waiting for Huawei support to deliver your fitness data (it is taking them usually 7 days or more) as zipped json files - that is far too little... Altimeter was not bad, GPS - mediocre. To sum up - nice as a budget watch for active people, but I'd never buy it again (rather would got Coros Pace2 or FR245 for that price)
@@ChaseTheSummit I remember how disappointed I was (didn't read about before buying one) finding that limitation. Closed and minimal ecosystem is killing Huawei as a serious competitor for Garmin, Coros or Suunto.
Thank for this video ! The amazfit is better than it If we compare with amazfit trex pro this is what i mean :) and i really feel good for bought amazfit trex pro at yesterday. I could not be patiently. 😅 But it was not surprise for me for now. I really never seen like you who make quality contents. Thanks, Greetings,
I have the T Rex Pro and Honor GS Pro and the difference is that the T Rex Pro has PAI and is 10ATM, but anything else the T Rex Pro has the honor has and more such as First Beat metrics, a long battery life, fitness status where you get advised if you are maintaining, overtraining, peaking or getting fitter. Route back is available on the GS Pro unlike the T Rex where it has no such functions. GS Pro has Music storage with or without headphone connectivity, speakers to take calls, more watch faces and the sleep tracking widget with good sleep tracking is also on the Honor GS Pro watch. It just has more than the T Rex Pro, but for the money T Rex Pro isn't bad and I like the look of the watch.
@@simdencard unfortunately i have bought trex pro 2 months ago. But if i have to be honest about that. It is overrated. Design is ok. Weight is ok but it is not enough. Also i had see the value of altitude for only 1 weeks. After that there is no information. GPS is normal. But it still same. Because of that i put off trex pro
@@lb2ww I agree. I barely use the T Rex Pro since the heart rate tracking wasn't working correctly on a road bike ride. Seems the bumps or software on the watch upsets the heart rate tracking when on a bike ride for some reason and I bought the watch mostly for when riding my bike.
I buyed one and the steps count is extremely innacurate. Reset the watch, uninstalled the Health app, nothing. Im in Brazil, buyed in Ali Express, called to Brazilian support and they can help me, "Just because the watch dont was released here". Nevermore buy Huawei in my LIFE!

I have the watch, with android 11 I can't receive mail notifications on the watch even if I gave permission from the phone, because android 11 works with gmail, I use outlook and I also have mail and gmail is registered in outlook, I receive messages on the watch only from gmail on who don't use it, a big disappointment, I'm interested in the email messages that don't come on the watch. something else to tell you, the battery only lasts 7 days because if you buy the watch now, it's manufactured in 2022 and it's been in the box and the battery has depreciated let me tell you, I bought a watch on aliexpress in 2022 and the battery lasted 14 days, I bought another one in 2024 (now it costs 65 dollars) and the battery lasts 7 days, maybe someone knows why I don't receive notifications from yahoo mail on the watch from android 11
