The term is hot shoeing; look that up for more detailed info but another reason is that it kills germs to make sure there won’t be an infection under the hoof

Usually not. Hoves are similar to our fingernails. They grow longer so the farrier trims them from time to time and puts new shoes on. Also as far as I know u can fix some posture problems depending on how u cut the hoves. Same as with special shoes for humans I‘d think
