No he's not. Absolutely not. Jason Isaacs is the best Hook to ever live. Hook needs to be filled with evil, a heart of black. No comedy at all. Hoffman always adds comedy to his characters. No. This is fact. Not opinion. Even Jeremy Sumpter said so.
As much as I love the final take, this should have been the one. Like listen to that growl he does when he says “revenge, is mine” might be me as a musician but my god it made him seem way more menacing then I truly remember him being
Dustin Hoffman first appearance as captain James Hook was the best ever. the hook that Dustin Hoffman uses for his role as captain James Hook i have seen being made on you tube.
Watched this last night for my favourite actor Robin after watching his documentary and its a classic my childhood film in a nutshell 25 in 11 days and never too old 💙👌🏻
This take was so much better then the final one the spin, the empathise in words and aora you see classic hook and his despicable self indulgent personality
I know! I liked how Captain Hook said “revenge is mine, his voice was laced with menace and it was heavy on gravitas. In the take used in the theatrical release, Captain Hook said his lines faster and he wasn’t nearly as flamboyant. I wonder if they needed to pick up the pace. I hear that the movie was originally three hours long so they needed to delete more than 60 minutes of scenes when Spielberg decided that Hook wasn’t going to be a musical, and the runtime needed to be way shorter.
Smee: Good Mooooooooooooorning, Neverland! Tie down the main mast, mateys, 'cause here he is, the cunning kingfish, the bad barracuda! A man so deep, he's almost unfathomable. [pirates stare blankly] Smee: A man so quick, he's even fast... asleep! [pirates cheer] Smee: Thank you! Now, let's give him a very big hand, 'cause he's only got one. [pirates laugh] Smee: I give you, the steel-handed stingray, Captain James Hook! The Final Cut really made this movie a remarkable hit
You know what, as much as I love Danny Kaye, Hans Conried, Jason Isaacs, and Colin O'Donoghue; Dustin Hoffman is Hook! Yes, Colin, you're sly, charming, and awesome, but Dustin..................oooooh you're deliciously despicable!
You Know Dustin Hoffman wasn’t really the Original Choice Of Playing Hook it was actually supposed to be David Bowie Whom had actually turned down the role of it but sadly to say it wasn’t a bad thing that he had done so because Dustin Hoffman did the Role Of Hook In Such An Incredible And Outright Terrific Form with Flamboyant And Ruthless Fashion !!!!!!! 😉😉😉😉😉🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥
Hook is not supposed to be flamboyant. Hook is supposed to evil, dark, scary. No comedy at all. That's why Jason Isaacs is the best Hook ever. Followed by Danny Kaye.
the problem today is that Hollywood is dead. which means big blockbuster movies like this won't be made again until there is the funding to do so. it cost somewhere in the region of 8 million dollars in 1991! im not sure what the answer is, but I hope we can return to this type of film making soon. trouble is though, we will still need the writers, directors, producers and actors to match this level of skill and performance and who do we have nowadays? these guys are in their 70s/80s and some are dead.
I like the first 20 mins and the captain hook bits, not keen on the Rufio paintball/basketball/go kart stuff but then again it was for a younger audience. I actually re-watched it last week and had to skip the parts where Peter is in the lost boys camp but then its an important part of the movie and it wouldn't be the same without it I guess.
Dustin Hoffman Definitely has that Volatile and Vain Type Language of Vengeful Enragement for playing that one very Role Of Captain Hook in the Movie and when it comes to those acts of Screaming and Yelling those particular and various lines such as I Hate I Hate I Hate I Hate Peter Pan ! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
So there’s only one Major and Important Question that literally and Truly Remains Unanswered about this Movie and that’s why Wendy’s Two Younger Brothers John And Michael From the Original Tale Of Peter Pan aren’t in it nor ever mentioned of when it comes to their whereabouts from Wendy and why exactly weren’t they in the Movie to begin with and what would they have done to helped to have helped older their Sister through on trying and making Peter Banning through rebuking criticism Recollect And Remember whom he once was as the “Peter Pan” from his youth to have himself flying straight back to Neverland to Rescue and Save his Two Children Jack and Maggie from Hook and Challenge him to the Defeat And wouldn’t be interesting to know exactly where John And Michael are what their whereabouts could be during those course of events in Hook I wonder ?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔??
Probably Spielberg was open to let Hoffman do his thing, then, as they approached him more and more, asked him to channeled his act more specifically and more intimately…
