Hoonigan driver Ryan Tuerck will be piloting this revamped 1978 Ford Escort Mk2 RS in its competition debut at the Monster Energy Gymkhana GRID event this weekend at Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom. Hoonigan tapped top Formula Drift driver Ryan Tuerck to fill the seat, as Head Hoonigan in Charge (H.H.I.C.) Ken Block will be occupied defending his AWD title in the Ford Hoonicorn RTR.

I've got the shell of one sitting in my garage, it needs some bodywork. But I'm a welder and fabricator so that's not a problem. Main problem is trying to find a good motor for it, I want something sensible, it's not gonna be a drift car, it's more of a show car with a tuner/gymkhana look to it. Right now it's got a ridiculous V8 in it, which I don't want, I want that classic 4 cylinder rally car sound.

+Jeff E I think thats why tanner is such a good driver. hes has bad luck this season but in his olsbergs ford he won nearly everything. hes a damn good driver, no matter what anyone says. any drifter will be good at rally/rallycross. if you can do one, you can do the other without much training.

Interesting fact is that the MKII Escort was never officially sold in the US. The engine is a n/a 2.5 litre Millington unit based on the Cosworth YB family. Which itself grew out of the 'Pinto' series engine! As to whether Ken Block can or can't drift - he's better at driving than most who slag him off. He's extremely competitive in rallycross and has had decent results in rallying. These two motorsport categories are way more professional than drifting.

It borders on homosexual the way you guys moan on about him. Such fanboys. He's an auto journalist, who offers insights into cars one would purchase and compares them against each other, with pro's and con's. Do you really demand that badly, to want to see some guy fly halfway around the world just to sit in this car that has nothing to do with anything real-world? Like he's a cool dude. But fuck. +TheHoonigans sorry, hadn't had my morning tea yet... they'll BOTH be there... I get it. I wonder which will get the most applause? I'm betting on the home team Escort. Also, I'd asked Scotto this offline, but he's in the middle of like a 2 day bender ;) What's the difference between the Millington Series 1 and Series 2? I noticed the heads are different but the blocks seem to be the same YB/Pinto basis. Is it a totally bespoke head? It's a much narrower head than the YB based Series 1. The cam gears nearly touch. The Series 1 and YB heads have like an inch gap between gears. I know the old blue Escort has a Series 1 in it back when it was here at Team O'Neill
