I rarely enjoy your videos on release day, Mr. Chad. But please know they bring me joy on the weekend !! 🎉 Thank you for your humor and entertainment 😊
40 year tech and automotive teacher. and I have learned allot watching your channel thankyou. a few things. those chines HEI distributors come with way to much Vacuum advance you have to turn the little screw in the vacuum port to take timing away. Teflon tape on fuel lines it breaks up and gets stuck in the needle and seat and pressure regulator. Liquid Teflon works much better. Plastic floats like Qjets soak up fuel and get heavy especially when hot. they make a tool to weigh them.New Kent Moore J-34817-10 Carburetor Float Weight Tool GM Quadrajet Dualjet
Thanks Bud..I Always enjoy your Vids..And Quit caring about what Armchair mechanics think or propose in comments.Your channel is Awesome ,You are fun to tag along with ,And i always learn from your successes and even failures...So again Thank you.
Chad, I can’t figure out if you have the patience of a saint or if you’ve achieved perfect Zen enlightenment. When fresh problems pop up, you laugh and deal with them. No throwing of tools and no cussing. Only the occasional fuel pressure regulator meets a violent end!! Great video as always. It’s an absolute pleasure to watch your weekly wins and the occasional set back. Thanks for taking us along with you!!
Man oh man watching you roll under that beauty to mess with the solenoid on the transmission.. man how SWEET will it be to have that nice TALL shop built finally this summer and have a LIFT up in there, oh baby!! I really do (well I've come to be this way) hate rolling around underneath a truck or car.. I used to love it, have no negative opinion one way or the other, but in my older years the dream to have a little 2 post here in my garage.. oooh the dream!! Can't WAIT to see that shop of yours get finished!! Great content as ALWAYS, good sir!! Thank you for the time away from my personal nonsense so I get to live yours!!
Love those body styles. Seems to work awesome now! Half the drive video I was chasing spy balloons then realized it was on the windshield! 🤭 I keep spotting the white TA in the carport… I have a 95 just recently acquired that needs attention!
This episode here is why i love this channel! Ya kept at it and made it better, your way. I really like that truck, except the damn light switch shifter shit. But im glad shes running well. Good job buddy!
I tend to agree that a little tuning and you have it. I like the cam choice. Has a good power curve for that truck. I like your style. Great video, keep up the funny and informative content. Look I g forward to the next one.
I like how you explain in detail of what your doing. Can make a dummy like me understand something about a car. I'm no mechanic but I play one on the street I live on. LOL. Great video as always.
Chad seems a whole lot better. I loved the explanation of how the lifters work. Like you feel get some fine tuning. And all will be fine. Thanks for sharing! 💯👊👍
I like the way its running now, sounds great! I am patiently waiting for the big shop build! Gonna go do something...eh...Nope, just going to the bathroom, then get something cold to drink. It's Saturday night.
I wonder if the plugs in your dead cylinders were fouled. That might account for the shuddering going away. Just a thought. Yes, the quadrajets are a pain to tune, but if they are clean and your fuel is clean, they run very nice as I remember. Nice job staying with it.
There's a Chinese balloon on your windshield and sometimes I scratch my head about whether you finally put gas in and are all the vacuum lines are hooked up or plugged. Keep up the good work buddy. I am a sittin here with my old dude t-shirt enjoying the day.
Ok I was ok with all the bad luck till the end when you got in the truck and said the throttle is sticking. That was it . I felt like I was working on it myself. Lol. It sounds like a beast brother. I'm really liking that truck.
Chad my good brother... I say a prayer for your throat and voice, that it gets on the mend soon. Just remember soon you will be able to go into a nice large and heated shop to work on your projects and you won't have to worry about the inclinate weather and leaving the door open just to have enough room to work around the vehicles. Good luck to you in the future!
Fantastic content my favourite so far ,you da man Chad persistent and patient until a fuel regulator gives up look forward to the next one from England 👍
Excellent video Chad :) also got this Hot Rod Truck done well and got fix up to likeing too ! Glad got resolved too and do have red paint left from S10 truck I said use for hood on this truck to paint up!
Thank you again for another informative and enjoyable video keep up with the good work thank you again 🤠 can't wait to see your building when you get it finished
Nice to see you got it running well. That Holley will prolly wake it up a little with a tune, the Quadra jets are great but the tuning isn't easy on them. And don't listen to internet experts, you can't do a diag without being there, a lotta guys spend more money than brain power.
I agree it doesn't have to be perfect. My different parts on my old chevy has it where I'm the only one who knows whats what. But I drive and have fun with it.
Glad you found out what the major problem (s) were. Do you ever get tired of switching those house switches? Ever switched the wrong one? Good video today. Glad you explained how those lifters work. I did not know that. Can't wit to see what is next.
Sounds sweet to me, 👍🏾 I would say back to the woods for the next project lol 😂 (if) it’s not to cold , hey that old Ford looks like it could use some love
Way to many keyboard warrior's. You've forgotten more about turning wrenches then most will ever know. Keep up the awesome videos don't let them get you down.
The seems like you had a few problems going on all at once. True your mechanical abilities and diligence that seems you got the old girl running top notch. Thanks for sharing such an awesome video and keep up the good work 👍✌️🇺🇲
I sure enjoy watching you diagnosing, tuning, adjusting, explaining and doing it all again. I like the fact that unless you are sure and test everything, that you don't fire the parts cannon and cross your fingers. You have one of the best youtube channels Chad...!! Cheers...!!
I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding.
It's been my experience over my life so far,, that someone else always KNOWS MORE THAN I DO ABOUT THINGS,, AND I realize that sometimes they do! So I think over what they have to share and if it's a sensible idea,, I'll try it,, if it's one of those "WELL DUH" ideas I usually ignore it And go on😳. I can tell you are pretty much the same way! ON intake gaskets I ALWAYS USE SOME SORT OF SEALER( REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT SAYS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS) UNLESS THEY HAVE O-RINGS ETC. IF THEY ARE FLAT STYLE LIKE YOU USED,,I ALWAYS PUT SOME "INDIAN SHELLAC" OR HI-TACK ETC.ON THEM,JUST TO BE CERTAIN THERES AN AIR TIGHT SEAL( NO VACUUM LEAK) THAT'S JUST THE WAY I LIKE TO DO IT. As far as valve cover gaskets, weather stripping cement works well to hold those in place ( either the black or the YELLER SNOT) AS FOR WATER inlet gaskets I usually use either the shellac or the permatex paste/cream/sealer whatever you want to call it( in the tube). I DON'T LIKE TO RELY ON JUST THE GASKET MATERIAL ITSELF TO SEAL THE JOINT,, unless it's made from the RUBBERIZED material,CORK or other "SOFT" material that when compressed will fill gaps. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ON YOUR VIDEOS,,IS YOUR A "COMMON SENSE" type mechanic,,YOUR "OLD SCHOOL" AND I ENJOY WATCHING YOUR STUFF!! I have also LEARNED OVER the years,To always"BURP" your water as you refill the system,,I usually remove the TOP heater hose and start filling the system until water flows out of that hose good then put the hose on and CONTINUE FILLING! that helps"BURP" the AIR out of the system. ALWAYS"BURP" THE SYSTEM!! keeps HOT POCKETS from forming!! Some people will leave top radiator hose loose until water flows out. Just passing that along,,NOT TRYING TO BE A KNOW IT -ALL. a lot of people don't know to DO THAT. Not implying your one of those people!!
Mr. Chad, I have a question for you and maybe a helpful tip. When you remove your Air Cleaner from your Carburetor. You leave the Big Oval Box near the fender inplace. Have you looked inside of it to see if the venturi tube is still installed? The factory put it in there to reduce the noise. If I recall correctly with it installed your engine is actually breathing though a 1 1/2" opening. After I removed it from a 1991 GMC I gained 20 hp and a major increase in mileage. The company mechanics couldn't figure out why my truck ran better than all the others.
Something else you might check.....I just noticed the way you have the vacuum lines hooked up for your PCV and brake booster. You may be leaning out the front cylinders. If the intake allows in the back put the booster to it and the PCV to the carburetor. Ford in the late 80s to mid 90s had that issue, trying to pull to much vacuum from one spot. It was a design flaw. Anyways it sounds great!
Glad you got her figured out for the most part! You seem to have the worst luck with new and used parts! I feel your pain. Never understood why Chevy got rid of the center intake bolts on the vortex engines …seems silly! If ya have a variety of secondary metering rods for a-jet carbs , ya might find some thinner needles to allow more fuel delivery? Otherwise that Holley would be the ticket for some fine tunin!
Yeah the cooling system in that truck was using for California Texas Florida warm reclinements and stuff like that so was it didn't overheat Hopefully you read this message and it works for you I know I went through that I live in Minnesota and I bought a pick up that had that same rolling of the cooling system and I could never get any heat out of it and it never stabilized on on a temperature either I'm sorry if I'm bothering you you take care OK and hopefully it works for you the same way you did for me God-bless and have a great day
I was dealing with a coolant leak on my car these last 3 months...it was driving my crazy...finally figured it out it was a quick disconnect on the back of the motor my the break booster dripping on the exasut manifold...I replaced all the intake gaskets plugs wires thermostats upper and lower radiator hoses...2 cool bypass hoses ...I like my little pontiac but now I'm looking for a little truck like your s 10 a really nice clean one is about 5 thousand...that's what I want but I want one with the 4.3 v6 and it has to be a shortbed.
Well done up to the top of the transmission and bolt that will let you be able to pull him out again the wires you can be fighting with vice grips when you have Tuesday so I'm going to change the filter for a second
Another way to tell the oil pump sending/fuel pump cutoff switch is bad or maybe loose is oil at the top of the connector or around the fitting for the sending unit elbow
I think your videos and the way you do things are just fine! Don't worry about the know it alls. I'll watch other channels if I want to see someone do it "perfect".
The intake needs restrictors for the water ports when I did a carb swap on my obs I had the same issue until I put the restrictors in. Not sure if you have tried it but that was my issue.
Hey Chad, its Ireland 🇮🇪 calling.... great video,,,, i love watching u drive round your roads over there,.makes me feel at home.... if u see this comment, can i ask u whats the plans for that white car.... all the best from Tommy, in Ireland
