Notice that when Norm gets kicked out ("I've done it again!") and leaves, the sheriff and other townspeople are patting him on the back and supporting him in contrast to earlier in the film. I like the fact that Norm remains a hothead (in this scene, he tells the ref to wipe the pig slop out of his eyes) to the end.
Dennis Hopper was so unbelievably good he transcended his role and almost brought his character to life. Hackman was nearly as good. This was a once a lifetime event bringing everything together to make the perfect film - pacing, script, music, actors. Even the secondary actors brought a richness to the film. I count this as the most flawless film every made.
Tyson Dude. Yes I get it on the quality, but 4real: Considering you can't see the WHOLE movie on Y T, to get what you can get...be thankful its not like American Graffiti where even though its not sped up its still on a 1/4 of a screen...
Dan Brenner I was complementing it lol! I was born in 1992 and own the dvd(saw it first on tv), and the quality has never looked like this on anything that I've seen.
GIMME MORE OF THIS !!!!!!! Right the F ON! Dammit!! Can't you just put on the full movie? a la other movies, like "The Seven Ups"? (Roy Scheider/Bill Hickman car chase right in there with Bullitt?) Damn you are good!
Jerry Goldsmith was known for combining electronics with orchestra. It's anachronistic, but it works the same way it worked in "Chariots of Fire." Goldsmith sampled the sound of a basketball hitting a floor and used that to great effect in the game scenes. He also used electronics more subtly in other scenes.
Yes, Shooter was the star player. He also says he knows everything about the history of basketball. He knows about the team Hackman's character coached in the professional league.
