Hey Generalone I love your video and I used to have Hoover steamvac widepath just like your video and I got took that one apart to this machine is got lot of learning experience on it
Used your video to tear mine apart. The lack of brushes rotation was not the vacuum motor. In my case the auxiliary tools wire coiled hose had snapped off right at the connection to the main unit and vacuum was lost to the brushes drive motor.. It is glued in to the fitting so I had to improvise a new connection.
This vac had the same issue as yours, but it didn't cause the brushes to not rotate. There should be a valve that switches the vacuum between the main nozzle/brushes and the attachment hose.
Yeah.... At the time this video was made, I didn't have a tripod, and there's no one else to hold the camera for me. The tripod issue has been taken care of in my more recent videos, with the addition of software video stabilization. The software I was using at the time didn't have that.
Unfortunately this was one of those projects that was never completed. I used the vac a few times to clean up the basement when it flooded, and then it was scrapped. I never did have the chance to repair the hose. Glad the video was of some help at least!
I would have to take a look at mine... For some reason, though I think that the valve is part of the tank. You may need a new tank if the valve broke off.
It's hard to say. Unfortunately, I no longer have this machine. My memory isn't 100%, but I think it did have a black "pedal" that you'd step on to release the handle. Is there any way you'd be able to post a video or photo of the part somewhere?
Hey generalOne, I had sent you a message concerning some trouble I was having with my same machine, but I'm not sure you received it or not? It concerned how to install the spring underneath the machine for the handle release. The spring I'm talking about is under that small steel plate fastened with three screws behind the wheel on the handle release side. I'd appreciate your help as I now have a machine that can't be used because I can't get that spring back in!! Thanks
Your video is helpful except it moves around so much it made me have motion sickness. Perhaps next time you could use a tripod or have someone else hold the camera.
