The 100m rule only applies to active warships and is intended for other boats to keep their distance. Some warships in the dockyard are active if they are getting ready to go out but this one looks very much inactive and under repair.

Cool drone footage. Been on those Wight Link ferries loads of times. You often see Destroyers out between Portsmouth and the Isle aof Wight. Some incredible WWII stuff too. The frigate looks TINY until you realise how many cars get onto one of those ferries. It's because of the size of the dry dock, they can fit some VERY large vessels in that large one You'd be shocked is how big they are. Like a skyscraper layed on its side. Great footage. Top video.

In reality these chaps aren't police, they're security. They're keeping things low key as they failed in their job to keep the port safe by allowing you unchallenged entry. Someone could be in for the highjump over this although standard procedure is to act with familiararity & a quick wave to be let through. I know as I've worked here.

Up until the mid 80's the docks had it's own railway with steam locos to shunt the goods wagons about.

The curved glass building you can see 22:05 is where i had a security muppet go hands on in one of my early videos. The road just below it sits on the port boundary and has no drone signage.

So if you're at max altitude allowed for a mini drone you could go right over the top of the ship with no issue?
