That first officer was great ..he just talked friendly with no underlying feeling of him looking for an excuse to arrest you.

A polite and pleasant conversation with the first encounter, then a la Burton on Trent out comes the DI and says it is not legal and asks for your ID, time for police forces to engage in some education, education, education.

It's not his fault for not knowing anything about drones but once again it's a copper who can't start from "I don't know" and instead declares something illegal from a point of ignorance. It's crap policing and it gives the message that everything is illegal unless the officer knows it isn't

As for that last guy coming out like that, wow imagine trying to enforce a laws he knows nothing about, bet you he was thinking(LOL) when he walked back inside he had you, was going to get a couple of PC's to give you a personal tour inside a cell but found out he was the one with Egg on his face.

It would be interesting to know what law input there is in Police training. Plenty of equal opps training I'm sure.

Big up Tim Well handled . tip of the day from lexipol "auditors always win ." .FYI they use a low mesh fence in the states to shield private registrations from public view ,which at least creates privacy within the premises .

First Officer was very subtle with his line of questions, "are you from this postcode area", "did you manage to get parked in the carpark". He tried to have a good long look at the Operator ID number and enquired about the type of camera. those it seemed like a friendly interaction, I'm pretty sure that it was simply the "good cop" routine hoping to get more information that he was entitled to. moving on, the DI obviously went back in and did some detective work and learned that it's not illegal and you CAN do that! upon his return he fell short of playing his part in rebuilding the publics trust and confidence by not offering this simple phrase. "I'm sorry sir I was mistaken".

That first officer learns every day on the job. Seems the type to properly engage with everyone. I do agree and respect his point about personnel cars. At the end of the day hes only going out to earn a living for his family. He might not agree with every law. But who agrees with every rule they need to enforce at there place of work?

It is a legal requirement that you get the landowners permission to take off and land your drone otherwise you are breaking the law.
