Everyone seems to forget that putting Trump in jail would really lift up the millions of us who hunger and thirst for justice as we see Trump getting away with everything. Yeah, maybe Trump wants to look like a martyr to rile up his base, but the rest of us need to see justice done. We are saddened and depressed, and finding it hard to believe that we have a rule of law even NOW! We need a reason to believe! Don't forget about us!

Do you think they understand that Hamas started this and the hositilities have ben going on for many years? I think Netanyahu is sompletely wrong for all the death of children, women, elderly and the destruction of hoispitals, the hits on humanitarian relief and the famine situation he's forced on Gaza, and he should be removed, should have been removed months ago. I believe Netanyahu should be tried for crimes against humanity for the murders of children, women in Gaza.

It is the media and political commentators (as well as opportunistic politicians) who continue to blur the line between criticism of the government of Israel and antisemitism. They are much more responsible for conflating the two than the protesters are.

Yaron Brook is from Israel and was in the Army and he speciifically calls out Netanyahu often since Oct 7 for not acting right away as well as Razi for not using IDF and protecting citizens

You’re the ignorant one. The students are highly privileged and extremely well educated. These students are at extremely competitive educational institutions, they are very well informed. As are the teachers standing by their sides. There is no evidence these kids are protesting the Jewish people. Many of them ARE Jewish. They are protesting the way the Palestinian people have been treated for the last 70 odd years and specifically the genocide now taking place. The students and faculty protesting are asking by to divest from companies complicit in funding a genocide. And the fact that many colleges have managed to negotiate a peaceful settlement is evidence of how wrong headed not only this terrible episode of a podcast I used to enjoy and respect, but also how wrong the other institutions are.

Trump - jail: "A few hours" is out of the question. Make it long enough to actually GET to the no makeup, no girdle, etc., AND to get him offline for a few days!! Make it meaningful!! The great majority of Americans, I daresay, would be SO RELIEVED to NOT hear from him for a few days!!!

Don't hold back, Mr. Steele, tell us how you really feel. But seriously, Mr. Steele is absolutely correct about the press: Trash is the putative nominee, start handing him platform questions already. 💯 I'm one of the 10% for whom getting sunk into law and politics is a lifestyle. When I worked, I was a paralegal with legal aid. Then I took an arrow to the knee (in my case, PTSD affecting cognitive function), and law and politics is now a necessary coping mechanism. Thanks again, Harry, for having these good people on your forum, for making consistently good podcasts.

I find I have to disagree on the congresswoman's declaration that 'Israel has a right to exist', well of course they do but there again so do the Palestinians and their villages and farmlands.

You are correct that the Palestinians also have a right to exist. But when the government of one people starts a war against the government of another people, there are limited mechanisms by which to resolve the conflict. Until the Palestinians reject terrorists as their leaders, they will have to deal with the consequences of the choices of those leaders.

Having participated in demos surrounding the Vietnam War and as a student during the Cambodian Strike, I know that sensible Univ Admins that respect and work with their students and faculty do not have violence on campus (I luckily had a professional, ethical, sensible Chancellor). The current student demonstrators reflect a great unease in the country of supporting indiscriminately killing civilians, using starvation of innocents as a military tactic etc. Also, (not new) violence has started with the introduction of the Police

I wish this view had been reflected in the episode. I found the patronising dismissal of the views of the students and faculty protesting deeply depressing. Suggesting they are ignorant is profoundly stupid given the level of education these protestors have. I’m jot able to listen to this show any more. It’s just too much.

The handling of the student demonstration in NY has been disappointing. The Columbia administration should learn from Brown and Cornell. Free speech is essential to democracy and its parameters should be part of the discussion. The deaths of 30,000 + people and so many women and children, 200 journalists, the eviction of Al Jazeera is distressing to the lofty ideals of youth. As Queen Rania said, Arabs throughout the Middle East interpret the discrepenciy between 1400 Jewis lives and 30,3000+ Palestinian lives as racist. In a discussion of the student protests, should be part of the discussion.

And in terms of university reactions differing from the 60s, it's because they're businesses now, not primarily seats of learning whose business it is to engage controversy. People like Columbia's president are paid to protect the brand not actually focus on education.

Universities didn’t have a roll in the Vietnam war, but they do have investments in Israel. The current protesters want the universities to divest. These protests are more like the South African protests from the 80s than the Vietnam protests that were concerned about the draft.

I believe you are underestimating your average ordinary Americans. Especially the women. We are listening, and we are making decisions. Sometimes, media only goes by the extremes on both sides. Regarding the college protests and the comment "the inmates are running the asylum",.. do we really know what percentage of these are actual students ?.. Here in Portland, OR at the PSU Library protest, I believe there were 30 people arrested (average age of 30) and only 4 to 6 of them were actual students. I'd be really curious what the numbers are across the US.

I like Harry Litman a lot. He may stay too mellow some times. He delivers good facts and smart opinions. He sees the corruption. He needs to get mad. I will see Harry and Jen in San Diego. Also a big fan of Jen. The mayhem is not on college campuses. I have not heard of students showing up with weapons and physically attacking people. The mayhem is in Gaza.

Ug, how many bommers can find the Gulf of Tonkin or My Lai on a map of southeast Asia? The attack on college students seems quite misplaced. If you hold to any modern liberal viewpoint, you have to value Israli Jews and Islamic Palistinians equally. It really is not that hard to condem both Hamas and the current Netanyahu government being extremist. By the way, I am pretty sure that the current generation of protestors can identify the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea on a map of the Middle East.

Trumpettes are all talk. Love to talk tough tough behind a keyboard, but in reality too lazy to change the channel if the remote is not within arms reach, let alone riot. Jan 6th caught a lot of trumpettes off guard and they just followed the mob not understanding the significance of what hey were doing. Yeah, there were some that were there to create chaos, and or out to cosplay army man, but this was a minority.
