The man talks about having depression, suicidal tendencies and existential hopelessness and yet comes out with a song with the smoothest lyrics and one of the smoothest flows ever heard!
To me,personally... Hopsin is better than those three artists. When he releases albums they've been consistently good where you can listen to the album nonstop and never get tired of it. Cole and Lamars first albums will always be one of their best albums(my opinion)
Tupac once said that when rap stops being about real shit, it’ll stop going hard, and it takes big nuts to rap about real shit. That’s why you’ve been my biggest influence, you’re real and always have been. This was incredible.
There's a few others that dig into the creator's mind. but really Hopsin is one of the most introspective rappers ever. This shit is so honest it hits people hard as fuck that have felt like this.
When i saw this, i couldnt filtrate how legendary hop is in actuality. And also when you read the comments you realize what kind of fans hopsin have. Real and true, genuine and grateful that hopsin is stil doing it. So from here goes, dont be depressed because youre blessed! This is hop
That's why we try to distract ourselves. Playing video games, watching movies, being with someone just to talk. The worst part is that we lose interest in all those things. We stop playing video games, we stop watching the movies and we stop talking.
@CXRS3D i get you man. I lost interest in every game I used to love before. Now I'm just playing a little CSGO with some friends, but that also gets boring pretty fast.
As a black man that sufferers from major depression. This song speaks to me. It's on frequent repeat in RU-vid and spotify. Love you Marcus. Keep doing your thing
It is also a race issue, in the black community black man are often over looked and are criticized for showing emotions. It is often referred to as being weak and they are taught to bury those emotions. So yes, it is a race issue too
Hop the only rapper that lets you know he’s human too. We all a little fucked up. Your loved hop, same as us all. Your fans needed this. We all needed this
@@GavinBryce There are definitely other artists out there who are “real” but there are few that I’ve seen lay it all out there like Hopsin did in this video. Any artist that lets you take a glimpse behind the veil is great though.
@@williamhenning4700 Yeah but dude said Hopsin is the ONLY rapper that let's you know he's human, which is just wrong. I love Hopsin but I'm not gonna lie about him for the sake of likes.
Line about his kids hits hard, my bro took his life 2 years ago because baby mama shut him out from seeing his kids. Props to Hop for this, takes some real balls this
I like how hopsin is constantly catching himself in the thought loops and thinking to himself “wait a minute...who the fuck is saying this to me?” I think sometimes you really have to look at yourself like a separate entity, in order to get out of your head.
I'm one of those weird white kids (though definitely not a kid anymore). I appreciate how open you are with all of your emotions and how you put your heart into all of your lyrics and don't try to put on some persona. Thank you for everything you've ever done, Marcus.
But you DO understand how that line is him telling you that when the chips are down, and pretenses are disposed of, that he resents you right? If someone says "I love my fans" and in the next breath says "but I always thought that I deserve better than them" you should believe them.
@@cameronyoung9362You can both appreciate people while resenting them. It's more his insecurity of other people's opinions of his fans being weird white kids.
@@writerwannabe8778 This, hopsins appreciation for his fans is well and thoroughly documented. If I created a piece of media that was only enjoyed by furries, while I have no problem with them, I'm sure the way everyone would always be pointing that out would get to me
@@anow2 I don't inherit another mans battle simply by saying "someone shouldn't ask you for your time, money, or support, when they resent you for the color of your skin" or "if someone tells you they resent you for the color of your skin, believe them" Those are objectively true statements and stand on their own. You could stand to do with not making other peoples battles your own while you are at it. That is, assuming you mean what you say?
Nobody iller. From a technical stand point Hopsin is one of the most talented, most creative active rappers right now. Who you know that can take years off and come back, drop back to back and compare competitively with the big names in the sport of hip hop. Give him his roses🌹🌹🌹 Day one fan right here.
Takes a brave man to pour his fears and deepest emotions from private life on a track and share with millions of people. Thats why HOPSIN IS THE GOAT. One love ...part about the kid really hits hard...
Crazy to think in a little over a few months, this song will be 2 years old. Still an ageless masterpiece and I’m so happy Hop isn’t in this place anymore cause I can’t even imagine the pain to have all these thoughts. Hope he keeps being himself cause the haters will stay hating no matter what, so it’s pointless to try to change their minds. What matters is what the true fans think and we’ll always love you for you, Marcus. ❤️💯🙏
@@carsonfranklin4633 Yeah Hopsin doesn't just throw some catchy beats and rhymes together. There's a lot of depth to most of his music, and he's obviously an intelligent guy. That being said, I don't know exactly what you're going through, but I definitely understand the state of mind this song is about. I just wanted to encourage you to not let those kind of thoughts get to you. It helps to try to frame them in a completely different manner. There's a wide spectrum of consciousness, self awareness, internal dialogue, etc. It's commonly thought to be closer to 20-30% currently, but previous research had shown that about 50% of people have no internal dialogue! Which is crazy to think about for someone who is in their own head a lot. Having a lot of awareness can be a burden, but it can also be a powerful tool. We aren't born with an instruction manual for a brain, but there are plenty of techniques for self improvement if you know where to look. It could be meditation, philosophy, regular exercise, improving your diet, therapy, etc., etc. You got it brother.
@@DalerMehndisTurban fr and yea thx man I was in my head and I guess I decided to start writing music yk vent but now I have to hold back from h*rting ppl especially the person who is w her Stuckey thing is he was also talking crap about my best ,first and only friend in my old town bc I moved to a new school so every day I have to hold back from hitting him w a chair and but I guess I don't need her I have someone else now haven't and prolly won't ever feel like I did while I was when I was with her but yea and I can tell that alot of the reason he is w her is bc she is able to get stuff and for her p***y which just makes me more mad bc yea I still have the memories of me and her and I can tell he hasn't been through any pain physically and mentally which from my experience and basically looking at people and watching if u go through pain u search for love until u get hurt by it and still then you search for it a little you just have defensive walls to keep from being hurt again buy yea btw do u know any coping mechanisms that can keep Mr from letting my deamons play
@@carsonfranklin4633 Totally understand. What you're going through sounds a lot like a younger me. We're all products of our environment, and mainly because of how I grew up I had a short fuse which led to a lot of fights and trouble. I didn't want to come off preachy, but since you asked, there are some specific things that really helped me deal with this kind of stuff. More than that, it literally changed my life in certain moments, and the right knowledge is like tools you carry with you for the rest of your life. So, the first thing I would look into is Stoicism. It's a philosophy that's well over 2000 years old, and it's very simple to grasp and start applying it to your life the first day you read about it's core principles. The most important one, and what applies to helping with your current situation is literally just being able to separate things into what you can and can't control. If you can't control a situation(or someone's thoughts, feelings, etc.), then you shouldn't devote any headspace to it, talk about, act on it, etc. Just filtering out bs that's out of your control will save you a lot of time and headaches. Then for the rest of the stuff you possibly can have some impact on, it's a case by case basis that I guarantee will evolve as you get older. For example, similar to your situation, when I was in high school and college, there were definitely times where I took it upon myself to verbally put someone in their place for being above my tolerance for disrespect, and more times than I'd like to admit where I skipped that step straight to knocking someone out. Nowadays, as the saying goes, ain't got time for that unless someone is an immediate threat to me or one of my people. Couple more suggestions....I got a daily Stoicism book to start this year off to help keep my mind right everyday. It's called The Daily Stoic. It's really easy to read, and the author does a great job of converting the ancient writing into practical modern advice. Literally takes like 2 minutes for the page for each day, and it's like your own personal life coach and motivational support. I've read a ton of philosophy, psychology, self help, and other books if you need more suggestions at some point, but I highly, highly, recommend starting with just this one. Besides that brother, physical discipline helped me be a lot more mentally disciplined too. A healthy mind and body go together. For me it started out as weight training. Then I kinda got addicted to it because I enjoy it so much, and especially the positive impact it had on my life. I think joining a boxing gym, and then progressing into kickboxing then mma helped me the most though. Unsurprisingly, being in really good shape and people knowing that you're a trained fighter filters out a lot of bullshit that people used to put me through. For the parts you can't filter out, the mental strength you'll gain from physical strength and discipline will make it seem like life is on easy mode compared to what you've been wrestling with. It doesn't have to be weights or fighting, but most importantly find what you enjoy most because you'll actually stick with it. Even if it's just walking 30 minutes a day, I won't go into the science behind it, but it will help in a lot of ways. Specifically it helps a lot with your state of mind, the chemicals your brain is releasing, and the ability to regulate your emotions and thoughts. I've found that meditation helped me a lot in that way too, but it can be difficult to get into. If you're curious about it I can recommend some beginner books or give some tips on it too. Also, yeah you nailed it about pain. Some people are either oblivious or completely lack empathy. Life has a way of catching up with people like that without you needing to act on it though. Personally, I wouldn't want anyone, even my worst enemy to feel the pain I've gone through. I still have PTSD from some of the particularly rough stuff, and that's part of why I always at least try to help out anyone going through it. Sorry for the novel, but hopefully that helps. I'll leave you with one last idea. Living well is the best revenge. I try not to think in terms of getting back at people these days if it can be avoided, but throughout my life, I've had plenty of people screw me over, ditch me, look down on me and try to bring me down.... nothing shuts people like that and the internal self doubt up more than being successful. If you need to, there's nothing wrong with using other's or your own negativity, anger, or whatever emotions to motivate you to achieve whatever goals. Just don't dwell on negativity to the point that it eats you up. Just like physical exercise, you can train your brain and build it up to be stronger in whatever way you want over time. Holler if you need anything or any of that wasn't clear.
NF fans listenning to hopsin on lost: I got mad respect for hopsin, he didn't curse at all! Hopsin on his new track: Marcus FUCKING Hopson, my guy, what up? Don't mean to intervene I Love hopsin!! so talented!
I'm a weird white man. Two years younger than you, Hop. Lol. You're the GOAT in my eyes. I absolutely LOVE your lyrics and messages. Keep pushing on strong, dear sir. You've a legacy to leave behind. And you're a candle in this dark world. Shine bright and keep lighting people's paths with your music. Please and thanks. You're voice is much needed.
I was amazed with his acting in this video. I was saying to myself how I wish other artists embodied their own music videos like this man does. To me, I feel hopsins passion as I see him act. Because of that, I can better live vicariously through his music.
The fact he raps about all his insecurities and deepest thoughts I don’t know rappers that are brave enough to openly express that let alone normal people
Lot of rappers talk about their personal demons and stuff like that. Eminem been doing it lol idk why everybody acting brand just cause hop doing it. Hell hopsin been doing rapping bout his life and insecurities. I just feel like on this track, he goes into more detail. But very dope song with a solid message. Great song to bring awareness to mental health
@@sagnikbhattacharya1202 Hopsin probably included it because listening to him helped him overcome his struggles with many of his insecurities and negative thoughts.
I have a big... BIG... BIIIIGGGGG... muscles!!! HAHAHA!!! What did you think I was going for? That's so DIRTY of you! GAGAGAGA!!! I am the funniest RU-vidr ever! Maybe that's the reason why I have TWO (!!!) HOT (!) GIRLFRIENDS. Thanks for being alive, dear its
I agree! One of the best I’ve seen in a while! fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 imagination and creativity, boom! The beat and the hook to the song sounds like it came straight out of Dr Dre studio 💯💯💯👌🏻
@@itzvirt I think he means more along the lines of generally old school. As it's not pumped with autotune and the bars actually tell a story. Not just auto tune and a bunch of lines rhyming meaning nothing, but that's just a perspective
i still love this song; takes balls to dive into your mind so authentically and genuinely, and put it all out there in a music video and song. always been so raw, relatable. i'm thankful you're still making music for everyone who can relate to even just a line of your lyrics. that kinda honesty and transparency is rare in rap, but few people do it great and you're one of them. just keep being you, you don't have to be anyone for anyone
Sadhguru's words at the ends literally gave me goosebumps, such a brilliant way to end the song, woaaaahhhh 💥 this song really shows how greatly Sadhguru has impacted hopsins life and brought him out of his bad time, this। is truly inspiring, this can be helpful to so many people out there ✨🙏
@@RandomUserYTisFailing Try sadhgurus guided meditation "Isha Kriya" on youtube and also his book "Inner Engineering a Yogis Guide to Joy" - both of these things will help :)
Been listening to Hopsin since Raw so I've experienced most of his journey and this is up there with his best. The most under appreciated rapper of my lifetime easily and forever one of my favourites. Hops had a number of personal issues over the years and to address some of them the way he does in this song is incredible.
i agree hopsin is most definitely underrated; his music is amazing and so different from a lot of other rappers! i wanna see him get the appreciation he deserves!
Hop was one of the first rappers I actively looked up and listened too he got me into rap fr. And to this day I’ve never heard another artist like him. His music was infectious for a young Zach and I hadn’t listened to him for like 4 years came back to a ton of new music and now I’ve been listening to him consistently for a few year
I really love how he has to say everything literally because his writing skills are far too creative and top notch for figurative techniques, really helps in preventing preachiness and corniness!
Lmao mental health? Those are his demons bro. Yah, the demons that torture him. It ain't mental health. It's called spiritual warfare. They are messing with him bad.
I was also thinking schizophrenia in a way, but a very mild case. Now that I think about it, lots of mental conditions have the side effect of uncontrollable thoughts and self-doubt. I relate to this song as well being a recovering drug addict. The brain plays sick tricks on us sometimes that can be near impossible to control. The quote near the end of the song was very nice to hear- we can learn a lot from middle eastern ways of thought and spirituality. I wish you nothing but the best, brother, and hope that you can find relief in the small things.
I didn't know this rapper but I'm here just coz of that sadguru verse and it turned out I actually liked the whole song too, gonna check out other songs from this guy
The last message is important for everyone that struggles with OCD and intrusive thoughts: "What I'm thinking, what you're thinking is not the important thing We're alive right now, that is the important thing It is important that you focus on this fundamental sense of aliveness within you And then you'll see there's a natural distance between you and your thought process Once you create a little space between you and your mind, between you and your body, this is the end of suffering Don't identify any thought as negative, because it's just a thought Who told you it's negative? It's just a thought, you're making it up Maybe you like it, what's the problem? If you understand it's just a thought, it has no power If you think it's a reality, then it destroys you"
That's a phrase from a spiritual guru, "sahdhguru" highly respected spiritualist and practioner of the yogic sciences. Definitely check him out👍🏾 forgive me if I spelt his name wrong but you'll find him either way.
Exactly, once you realize it is just a thought, and start questioning and flip these ideas on their heads, they lose power over you! When my thoughts go dark, I start thinking in antonyms. It kind of makes me sound crazy if I start talking when in these moods, because I start reversing sentences, but it's what I have to do to cope with living with my hyper-aware consciousness.
doesn’t matter who you are depression will tear you down but hopsin you changed peoples lives. I’ve been sober ever since I first heard I’ll mind 5. Even when your gone you left something behind for MILLIONS of people and that’s huge. rap needs more people like you to influence the youth. I’m glad I could relate to you with all the things you’ve rapped about. respect to you hopsin we all care about you 💯
It's not that the world doesn't know how talented he is...they just want what they want! It's not the world that determines if the artist is great...his or her true fans are the ones that solidify that!
i use this writing as a way to escape cause i got a lot of build up emotion and things to say that i cant express to your face i pray everything will be okay god please take me away and let my soul rest peacefully - just a piece of something i wrote
I'm black and I bump. Saw this dropped while I was at work and was waiting all day long to listen. Good shit, Marcus. I love the self reflection that this song is.
Homie really showed himself in this video. I've been following since Ill Mind, Hop will always be a goat for those of us that actually lived in the trenches. That section 8, coming from fucking dirt and sprouting from it. I'm glad dude got out from under Funk Volume, Hopsin on his own is a great artist. I wish independent music came up sooner
