Trouble is that the Horizon does not bind A3 on the long edge, (420mm) The market seems to want bigger short run presentations. The larger size can get a premium price. It is also difficult to section sew A3 or even A3+ which is also often wanted
Just wondering where the best place would be to get suggestions on settings and nipper sizes... is this something you guys can provide? Our model was purchased through you.
Hello T 14, good question! With PUR glue you cannot use it again. This is one of the costs one has to factor into their production when using a system like this. The excess glue will need to be disposed of daily.
You need to fill the glue tank to a minimum amount in order for the glue to properly cover the applicator roller. This is approximately $9 CAD of glue. We recommend that you either have a make ready charge for people that want a very low quantity of books or hold off on the binding process until you have a suitable quantity of books to run. This is very much dependent on your business and customer make up. This unit is fantastic! it is very reliable at producing a perfect bound book with a nice square edge on it and with the PUR glue the adhesion is excellent.
Sterling Digibinder is a way better than this. and now they have new super automatic. a machine like this is stacking in Alibaba warehouse with a way cheaper price.
Just for clarity the Sterling binder is a fine unit but is not a comparison with this Horizon BQ 160 PUR. The Sterling binder is using an EVA glue. Items on Alibaba are also EVA glue machines.
thank you for listening and for replied, regarding type of glue, EVA or PUR, i couldn't agree with you more. but as someone who run a printing and binding company. small growing one. i need a faster machine. less waste, less work and less preparation. type of glue to use come after that. i also found it's funny when the paper come back after glued....yah i do. because this is why i'm searching for a new machine and end up here. For just one book to be bind, you wont see this coming, but just imagine tons of books stacking waiting on your right side. where to put all the cover and finished one. you dont want to move around all the time. work flow is important. 180 cycles/h seem's like impossible. Sterling machine almost as the same size as this one but they've auto feeder to load covers. Paper load -> glued -> bind -> and drop(finished). The work flow is really good. As Horizon distributor, maybe you can tell Horizon about this. Hope your business is getting better in future. I dont know why i spent time commenting on this. i dont have anything to do with sterling company. Maybe i hope all binding machines will become better and....cheaper :) LOL *sorry for my English :)
