Thanks for the review, very extensive and clear. My experience: I flew another model of Conscendo (Conscendo S) for several years without problems and I am very happy with it. I was able to fly it on the slope and on thermals with great success (on sunny and hot days sometimes you should pay attention to the plane because it tends to go higher and higher). Some months ago I bought one Conscendo evolution and flown it some times. It is significantly heavier than Conscendo S, therefore, it flights at more speed. I was not able yet to test how it works with thermal or slope flying. One issue I had was thas the electrical motor fails (it got stucks while flying with a 4s). Now I am waiting a new one to change it and continue flying. Except for this issue, I found both models very funny to flight, very ease, and of course, I cross fingers to do not find any new issue.
It is a GREAT plane and we LOVE it. My 6 year old boy can fly it in safe and me with safe off. NO issues whatsoever. It can glide forever or fly fast on 3 or 4S. Everyone who sees it on the flying field where we fly wants one... Highly recommended!
I do too, just unfortunate that eflite seem to have some qc issues, i was looking at the havoc and see people with similar qc issues, servos loose etc.

You'll want to keep an eye on the tail boom where it is glued together since there doesn't seem to be much glue and they tend to come apart there. Upgrading the props and spinner is a pretty common modification for these planes (and the previous Conscendo S and Conscendo Advanced). Also, while I haven't set up my Conscendo Evolution for flaperons, I do find with my Conscendo Advanced that spoilerons work better for landing than flaperons (for me at least, maybe other people find it easier to land quickly with flaperons).
Thank for the honest review, mine had some issues, servo chatter and push rods sticking, I replaced all the servos with metal gear drive servos, lubricated the push rods with gun oil and glued the push rod housing to the fuselage. also taped all the hinges, I replaced the ESC with one that could handle a little more amps and put a speed prop on it. In a straight and level flight I got 127 mph, verified by a on board gps, in a dive the gps showed 156 mph.......
Thank you for the unvarnished opinion... it definitely helped me make a decision. Off topic... from one dog lover to another, if you haven't already, get a pet health insurance plan on your pup! We have health plans for both our dogs and they have saved us a fortune. One of our puppies needed double knee surgery before she was 12months old. The plan paid almost 85% of the surgical and rehab costs.
Thanks for your detailed not RAH RAH review. I like that you pointed out it's short comings. That's enough problems to keep me on the fence. If I pay $200 for a glider I (1) expect it to glide efficiently, and (2) not have to replace things out of the box.
Great honest review.... Think I'll stick to my night radian 2200 lipo Including glide time 90min no problem only changes I've made is 2 square carbon rods full length of the fuselage to stop any flex and a solid carbon rod in the tube wing spar to strengthen it up. 7:19 The V shaped pattern centered at the fuselage - if you were to connect the "top" of V ends to the fuselage the wing stiffness will increase significantly out to the bottom of the W shape.
I own it it is so fun to fly. took it out with 3s 2200. smart battery 20 min flight 60% left after 15 min...10 to 15 mph winds very easy to fly and it did everything I needed it to do I love it.

All around a great aircraft. The evolution is an absolute blast to fly with true vertical endless climb power and high speed passes with full throttle tight turns thanks to a much stiffer body design...it absolutely has a great feel compared to earlier versions
I'm in the USA and paid $199 for the BNF version. I've flown mine five times with a 3S 2200mAh battery with no issues whatsoever. I really like it. I will be buying the lighter 3S 1300mAh battery to allow it to soar/thermal just a bit better. This thing zings on 3S and I will be getting a 4S 2200mAh battery at some point for the fun of flying it. My radio is the DX6e. I'm not to the level of flying that you are (my second plane) but I'm enjoying thus far. Looks like you also modified the dipole antenna to come out the body 180°, did you have radio issues?
A lot of good information here in the comments. And on the video. I am still surprised that people think when you buy an RC no matter if it's 200 or $800 you always have to change things here and there. You hardly ever run an RC stock out of the Box.
Definitely check the elevator servo and pushrods can stick, I run 4s 2200 lipos and it's very fast and will take a straight vertical climb! Something wierd happened around 300 feet! It took a fast dive and was close to hitting the ground before I was able to pull up, after that it started flying fine without any issue's 🤔
Thanks so much, not only for your discussion of the issues, but also how you compensated for them. I have had my eye on a Conscendo, so I appreciate your sharing your experiences. Crappy servos seems to be a standard complaint with Horizon models. I have the big Carbon-Z Cub that had a bad servo from the beginning. Horizon replaced it, but I'm going to replace some or all because I don't trust them. I have an E-flite Extra 300 with only about 15 flights on it, and will replace those servos because the Extra has ferocious control surfaces and input response. The E-flite servos are likely not going to be up to the challenge for long. Anyway, Cheers. Well done.

I’ve now set up flight modes for the different size batteries so I don’t have to worry about trim changes and replaced the crappy prop with an aero naut Carbon which is more efficient and quieter.
Hi. I was about to pull the trigger on one of these after all the rave reviews. I’m just a novice flyer, but am looking to get my first decent glider soon (I’ve just been flying an xk a800 so far but love it!). You obviously know you’re stuff - is there any particular glider you’d recommend, that’s good for slope soaring, and loops and rolls etc? Thanks. Great vid. ⭐️
The dam mini Mia is great very good for thermals brushles motor very strong a lot of supports and great for the price and it has wheels skids on the wings and great flying characteristics
Me too - seems a lot of people are paid/comissioned or have what I like to call purchase justification syndrome and won't hear any negativity ;) Interested to see what other options there are

Great review, what is your opinion if a Lion 20c 3 s battery was used instead of 3s lipo I really cannot see myself using this for aerobatics therefore it’s going to be poodling around, I suppose it comes down to current draw. Thanks.
I think you must work for the competition...we ridge soar this for hours at a time here in Wyoming...it’s amazing right out of the box. Handles Wyoming wind extremely well. It’s simply amazing for the price point.
I think folding props and motor brakes are just plain stressful on motors and spinner backplates. I had an FMS Fox 2.3M backplate fail violently with the plane on the bench. It exploded and sent one prop blade into the ceiling. Fortunately, I'd had the good sense to be standing behind the plane, so no personal damage. Lesson learned: expext folding props to fail, and always have spares. If you read reviews on the Horizon site, there are many complaints about prop failure, and replacements are out of stock. Hopefully Horizon has fortified the replacements.
Thanks for the review. I have flown mine maybe 100 times with only a few issues. One thing important to me you did cover was the elevator and rudder pushrods. Mine were binding and I had not even noticed. I took them out and found that it was just the one end next to the servos that was an issue. A very small drill bit inserted into the tube freed up the pushrod. A spot of hot glue on the foam next to the servos and at the rear exit points anchored them down. I'm not sure why your radio bay servos were loose. Mine fit tight, no movement at all. I'm sure there are better thermal riders out there, but I'm having good luck staying up 30 minutes on a 1300 3s if there is thermal activity around. Really love this aircraft, but it's my first sailplane too. Never dreamed it could be this much fun to just fly around looking for updrafts!
How did you program flaps? I have a Y-cable for the ailerons on channel 2 and there is no possibility to program flaps. Yesterday my prop lost one half in flight! Very poor prop-fixing-and dangerous, too!
I really enjoyed watching this. Very upfront review. I think highly of Horizon and have a lot of their products but it seems this glider was not engineered very well. It needs a lot of modification to make it better. Mine is still in the box. My confidence is now not very good. You are correct that many have make a big deal about this 3rd gen model, maybe not rightfully so. Thanks for your review.

Hello Christoph, initially after seeing this review video I decided to go a different direction with a model purchase but stupidity got the best of me and I ended up buying this plane . FIRSTLY- BEWARE of this platform as mine flies absolutely horribly. #1 the starboard wing servo glitches bad. #2 it does not handle wind very well. #3 it tracks badly and oscillates very strangely, I have never seen this in a Rc aircraft before and people watching have mentioned that is flies awkwardly. Bottom line is beware, this is almost $200 here in the USA and for me this is a little bit of money to spend on a foam Rc. I would expect more from Horizon Hobby quality control but now I’m stuck with shit !
This is the best review I read regarding Conscendo S, thank you very much for detailed & objective opinions. Tomorrow probably I will make maiden with mine however I just want to get rid of this AS3X thing but it seems you can only deactivate safe select, not the AS3X?!! Thats another issue for me with this plane. No I do not want to get a programming cable and consume my time with Horizon bullsh.
