A word of caution for this model. As an owner I’ve had some great flights but after a dozen or so I struck a problem. I started to have power drop offs ,after take off the plane lost power, only the motor, l still had power to rudder, airlons, and elevator. One of my club members suggested we do a test, to see how much power was been drawn from the battery. It’s there we found the problem, using a 3s it was drawing 43 amps ,a little more from a 4s. It’s only fitted with a 40amp e.s.c. So the result was the e.s.c. Only held out for the first dozen flights. The only fix available without changing the e.s.c. is to drop the size of the prop .

CHANGE OUT THAT ESC! It's damaged. You can buy decent 50A ESC's for ~ $30 - 40$. I will use my watt meter to check power flow in my new (used) Maule.

You made the same mistake I did with the rear assembly of the struts to the fuselage. The strut ends go into the small opening on each side of fuselage just below where you screwed them to the bottom. This takes out the shortness of the struts causing the rear horizontal tail to become bent or curved. Also makes for a cleaner look. Horizon should have been more clear in their instruction manual as to this issue. Still seems to fly well though like it is! Nice vid!

Nice flying. Amazing how slow it will go without flaps. I coat all my foam planes with Minwax Polycrylic gloss, 2 coats. My Maule is in it's box waiting to be coated then set up for first flights. Had to coat, set up my Cirrus before my Maule, Cirrus flies great, looking forward to the Maule next.

what is the reason for coating the plane? How much weight does it add?
