this game is so insanely good - i’m playing through my first run right now (late to the party) but i’m constantly being blown away by just minor details throughout the game
weston407 same here man!! I didn’t get a PS4 until the Spider-Man PS4 Pro edition came out and I’ve been catching up on all the PS exclusives (I had an Xbox One since most of my friends were on that console) and this game is amazing. Still learning it but I’ve already put around 37 hours in the past 4-5 days.
first time saw thunderjaw when i was going to meridian at level 15 i think and it was 26 i had normal bow with normal and fire arrows i overrided a sawtooth and lured thunderjaw to it and start attacking thinking " what could possibly go wrong" he killed my sawtooth in 2 hits chase me everywhere i was kitting with my bow until i used all my matrials and can't craft arrows anymore and the thing is still half health i thought about running then it would be a waste of alot of materials and arrows so i just killed my self it was very intense 10/10 would try again
On my 1st meeting it i shot a tripple tearblast to its back which teared zhe big artillery from its back. After that i just shot it with the cheap tear arrows until its heart became visible. All he was doing is using his eye laser which never hit because of sideway movement. Sometimes it charged but its slow compared to a sawtooth. Overall wasnt too difficult just used a lot of arrows to tickle down its big hp pool. I would say sawtooths are giving me more trouble than this titan.
@@W4VE_X same i was so freakin comfident i do break his a lot of parts but somehow he killed me i really Loving doing side quest i mean they are enjoyable like the ersa murder quest and so many more even tho my favorite ones are bandit camps 🌚 i always kill all the humans very quietly tbh that's fun instead of fighting with everyone i lose stealth kills
I feel like I did the same, was around the same level when I went to meridian and passed him. Saw him above the ledge there and ducked down. Crept quietly on to meridian and thought 'nope, not today'. lol.
Because a thunderjaw isn`t the hardest kill or fight in the game perhaps? Especially if you know the tricks. There is also a easy way to kill it using the Tearblaster and the discs it drops. So the mods you get from it, will come in handy later in the game.
Not to be a hater or anything I'm actually further in the game but nothing is more fun than actually fighting them ripping off their guns and shooting them back with its effective and you actually use less resources.
I just ended the game at level 50 or something and can confirm, that Stormbirds are still total bitches for me. Not hard, but out of my comfort zone. You know what *is* hard though? A swarm of those other birds, whatever they were called. Jesus christ man. The assholes that come from the ground are pretty nasty too. But Thunderjaws? Easy.
Robert Bay When I was still a young level something outcast I thought sawtooths were the coolest monsters out there. Then I saw the Thunderjaw, Like the big brother of sawtooth with guns. I reached max level I discovered there are far more powerful machines than thunderjaw, but I still think it's still the coolest out there.
I did this to a Stormbird once. I hammered him with everything I had, and I was out of all but regular arrows and tripcasters. I said Fuck it! and laid down 12 of them, and the poor birdo tried to divebomb me, and hit all but 2. BOOM! Dead stormbird.
if it spots you it will go in attack mode and at that point no telling if it is going to shoot shit and trip the bombs with projectiles or turn and run the other way. gets more complicated.
If you use 14 Tripcaster lines, then finish him off with something else in the end, you'll respawn with 15 Tripmine wires - reducing the cost and dramatically increasing the gains.
There's a spot not terribly far from there (northwest I believe) that is next to a campfire and has two thunderjaws. I found it is much easier and faster to just overide one and while they fight each other shoot the guns off the other. It takes no time for your (now weakened) thunderjaw to dispose of the other one. pickup the guns from the fallen and destroy your weakened thunderjaw. Takes me about the same amount of time to kill two thunderjaws as it took for you to shoot 15 Tripcaster traps.
Joshua Jin Yea but they don't follow u... and there is no thunder jaw next to this one... If u can get one to follow u make video and post cause I would love to see it
Dude. It doesnt need to be this place. They drop 3 rares regardless and there is another spot that has two Thunderjaws like Josh said, so just override one and then kill the other. Just like those stupid Rockbreakers, you need to override one to fight the other or its near impossible on Very Hard..
HEPHAESTUS: No you can’t just instantly kill the Thunderjaw they’re my ultimate killing machine that I meticulously crafted to stop humans hunting the terraformers! Aloy: Haha landmines go *Tiny Tina noises*
I remembered the first time I met this machine and I was like "I don't want to play anymore" And then I learnt how to use tripcaster, apocalypse ain't got nothing on me now.
Lmao my first reaction when I came across one of those things when I was severely under leveled was " I'm gonna kill it!!!". Took a while but I managed it. I was salty af when I found the disc launcher after i killed it though. that would have made things so much easier
The first one I fought was in the cauldron and yeah...took a few deaths before I realized I should use the tripcaster and break off the disk launchers to use.
I really love Horizon but farming is not really necessary at all for this game. I did all side quests before I continued on with the main missions and by the time I was getting toward the final missions I had already reached level 50, had all skills and every weapon and upgrade. Farming early on will just make this game way too easy. For an open world game, the platinum trophy was a piece of cake. You can get it on one play through.
i beat the game at like lvl 38 without getting any of the cauldrons or getting any of the special weapons my primary weapon was the shadow hunter bow using the Pierceing arrows. i didnt start doing the sidequest and the trials till i had already finished the main story. all i have left to do is hit the grazer dummies collect metal flowers and get tall the other collectables.
you beat the game without being able to override any of the cool stuff? and why did you decide to do that, as for me overriding and just seeing machines tear each other apart was the coolest part of the game
There is a skill that allows you to pick up traps that haven’t detonated. But when you use the lure call, it depends on the angle you are at when used to manipulate the particular movements of machines. I myself have never tried this method out, I’ve already had fun with blowing off his two guns and using them to disc his ass down, set him on fire and blast his generator with armor pen arrows.
I know people are moaning about how much cooler they all think they are for using its own launchers. But this is awesome finally a new take on how to kill it. Sure its probably super expensive but it looked hilarious! I killed about 30 thunderjaws on very hard and just freezing it with ice and blasting it with the disc launcher or precision arrows/bombs is what everyone does. Top marks for originality and 1hit ko was amazing. Thanks for uploading! :D
Whats it the point of microwaving popcorn? It should be a grueling battle against a bonfire with a burnt oven mitt trying to cook the unpopped corn. As awesome as that sounds sometimes its nice to just microwave it in seconds. At the very least this was not something I thought you could do and found the vid entertaining in that regard.
Seriously. Pretty much any gaming video ever is a page flooded with "yeah, but im so cool brah and i umm shot with umm stuff brah and like game mechanics and im fuckin cool brah" type comments. No one gives a shit how you killed it, they came here because they gave a shit about how this guy 1 shots it, which is fucking hilarious.
I agree, This is good for people who are low level or really suck ass at the game and just can't deal with the thunderjaws aggressiveness but they still want some mods, or people who can do the usual disc launcher method but want a more laid back approach to farming. Hell I already beat the game and had them on farm with my shield weaver armor but didn't even think about trying this method which is far more multi-task friendly
To make this cheaper, you can also use the disk launchers to do a lot of damage. Northeast of this spot is another Thunderjaw, so you don't have to go through the hassle of reloading the game.
This video might be 3 years old, but for a new player playing on PC like me these videos of HZD on your channel very helpful for me. Thanks man, another sub for you!
I really love the wire traps in this game, I usually hate them but the ability to put them wherever and however you want makes them so satisfying to use.
This is a good way if you want to get coils fast at early levels. For me, I just like to set up a bunch of traps, take out the sensor on top, the launchers on the side with the Pulse Arrow and then attack it with its own weapons, leading it into more traps until it dies.
Great strategy. I know there are other ways to kill thunderjaw but I've been looking for other ways like this to see how other gamers deal with the monster. Kudos for the creativity.
See a lot of people don’t understand the Benefits of learning other gamers strategies. Regardless if they use his way or not it’s cool to see everyone’s way of doing things. Instead there’s 100 people bashing his method and saying their way is best. I keep forgetting the majority age group Im referencing. It’s just irritating.
Amazing.. thanks a lot for this guide..I've just completed the story mode & now doing the side quests. I need more damage coil mods so I'm gonna do this now instead of the old 'shoot off the disc launcher & use them on the Thunderjaw' method because its quick & just super simple.👏🏼👏👏🏻👏🏽👏🏿👏🏾
Fireclaws (and frostclaws) are some of my favorite machines to kill. It's so much fun shooting those sacs they have all over their bodies and watching pieces of them explode while you dodge around and avoid their attacks. :)
Very useful that - thank you. I am really digging HZD for the first time on PC. Brilliant game, but I'm predominantly a shooter and not into bows and arrows and melee fighting, so tips like this are welcome. 👍
it depends on what mode your playing on too, I think I have 3 50% damage coils on my tripcaster and on easy mode that's around 1K damage, but on ultra hard mode its like around 300
There's also another trick that can be used to easily kill the Thunderjaw without even getting hit by him. Just go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Grounds and jump to the lower level of the hill (you can't shoot from the highest spot since it's a starting point for hunting trials). Then start shooting at the Thunderjaw located below. Use tearblast arrows to get rid of his disc launchers and cannons first and he won't be able to attack you. Even if he gets very close, there's nothing he can do from below (his only range attack left is laser sweep but it shouldn't hit you through the rocks). Just watch out for Ravagers and Watchers wandering around. Most of the time they will remain in yellow state and won't get close to you but occasionally one of them may get close enough to attack.
I know of the place. And yeah, you can even take control of the ravagers for an even easier fight. Hell, they even try and show you to do this in the trial thats there
Nice. I just started playing the complete edition and I was so excited when I saw one. I spent so much time and resources fighting the damn thing. I like this farming strategy.
This is an interesting way to go about taking down the Thunderjaw. Good for those who want to stay hidden (aka like stealth) with zero chance of dieing. From what I can read in the comments below (as well as the vids I've already seen) theres no point in talking about the other way (which may be faster) of taking on this dino. All in all a great vid. Showing multiple ways of completing a task is always a good thing for those who choose to play a game one way or another.
Probably the safest way to farm it. Although by level 40 and above they are not so scary anymore, especially if you have the Tearblaster from the Hunting Lodge. I usually start with several shots from the Tearblaster, to remove all armor and the disk launchers, then follow with several ice arrows to freeze it for double damage and then use its own disk launchers to tear the beast apart. After that, if it still alive, you can repeat the ice combo and finish it with some hardpoint arrows through the armor holes. It should take about 3 to 5 minutes on Very Hard.
I love watching this. I have done this several times. I have also used the freeze attack and just going nuts with either arrows or using the disk launchers as well. Currently working to 100% the game in Ultra Hard Mode (yep first run through the game and decided on god mode. Insanity yes but awesome at the same time). Fun to watch and have enjoyed what others post as well. So far I mainly stick to freezing it and going offer the protected heart. Hitting for 1440 points when frozen (yes 3 arrows at a time) and drop it in three shots. Keep up with the posts of new ways to drop creatures while we wait to see if the 2018 E3 rumors from the developer pan out. Supposedly they are hiring up the staff right now to bring us the next chapter. Time will tell but keep bringing the take downs.
Just did the same thing. Skipped the garden walk first run-through and just booted the game on UH right out of the box. First watcher was a pain. First sawtooth was a pain. First corruptor was a real pain. First thunderjaw was in the unlock cauldron and damn I must have put 80 heavy ropes in him and all sling bombs and damn near everything else before I got that big fellow down for good. A bunch of tripwires doesn't even make a proper dent. Shooting him with both disc launchers doesn't bring him down either. Just patience, a lot of tough love and a lot of ropes seems to do the trick. Luv the game, luv the UH (and hate it). 60+ hours in and still some miles to go before I hit the frozen expansion stuff.
I like this method. Helps get good mods to then fight the flying machines that the traps dont work for. Cheers for makimg a vid on this. And for explaining how you done it. Most vids just saw the weapon and thats it.
So many ideas for so many things now just popped into my head all at once. Someone lower level can rush over there and get all sort of goodies to help them out early on
Awesome video. It's cool to see all the different way people do things. I personally just use 3x Tear Arrows. 1 in each launcher then 1 in his body just onfront of his legs to reveal his heart. Then just run over, pick up his launcher and go to town on his heart. Can kill them in about 30 seconds
haha nice! that was awesome. i just go to the spot where there are TWO Thunderjaws (in the little snowy valley north of Greatrun Hunting Grounds on the map), override one, then watch them duke it out and assist my Thunderjaw a little if necessary, then get my loot from the one it killed. minimal resources and it's entertaining haha, try it out. great video btw
i remember when i first passed that going to meridian. i was like “ima quit. theres no way im beating that” then i came across this video three yrs ago. a couple hours and grinding later i killed it abt five times. hip-hip hooray.
If you put damage mods on your tripcaster and then set up trip lines in front of you and then remove mods from tripcaster to put in your bow (to kick off a fight) will the trip lines still have the high damage from the mods that were in the tripcaster when you shot the trip lines originally?
This is hilarious! Instant death of the toughest machine! XD (only possible on difficulty Normal or lower, as harder lowers the weapons damages) Thanks for sharing! I get a lot out of videos like this
I actually avoided tripcasters for my whole playthrough because I felt they were kinda cheap and made things too easy. Also I just preferred the feel of a solid arrow hitting machine steel.
Use the Tearblaster you get from the hunting lodge quest, it will 1 shot a disk launcher off a thunderjaw, do that, pick it up & blast away - 10 times faster & much more fun
GeneralLeeRetarded do it I just did it yesterday it's worth it but make sure you farm stalkers for echo shells and a another rec that stalkers drop as well (the tear blaster uses those to rec and not metal shards)
idk why people say theyre the best in the game when the dmg on the lodge weapons are the same on the shadow variants... the only difference is the way the weapons look they have the same ammo the same dmg numbers and the same mod slots... .-. i really dont get it.
+Don Strijb You're not hitting them in the right place then. Try freezing it and start shooting the disc launcher at the red battery looking thing on their sides! or the nexus hub thing on their forehead!! You can take it out with a single disc launcher if you shoot the right spots, and its a lot easier if they're tied down and if they're frozen, they take a Lot more damage.
Then you are not doing it "correctly" =P Tear off both disc cannons, Freeze thunderjaw and pump the discs into him. Best way to kill him in very hard in my opinion.
Quinn Broers yea I tie down freeze him then load up 3 hardpoints shoot the disc launcher use it get the other disc launcher and takes 40sec basically to kill it
Still one of the coolest tricks in the game. I like hitting it with freeze arrows to lure it so he gets chilled. That way the bombs do more damage in case some miss.
It is more fun to fight it and I will kill every time because I have the invincible armor but I still liked the video because this is an informational video for the people who need help with this
Oh now that was impressive...show me more! I didn't know that was possible. Fun to watch Thanks...?Question? If you have made it that far, What do you think of the Hunter's Lodge weapons?
