I just ordered the rudder for the 3/4 Aerodrome Eindecker EIII. After watching your great Camel build series, I'm hoping my project won't be too challenging for the first time builder. The lack of step-by-step instructions on a scratch built materials kit could be a challenge, however I've already learned a lot from watching your series and that gives me hope going forward. That said, Robert Baslee makes it possible for us to build some really great historic airplanes on a budget. Would love to watch you doing some of the construction if you have time. Thanks so much for this!
It is common in aluminum tube construction to insert a nylon plug inside the tube wherever a bolt passes through to keep the bolt from crushing the tube. Are there nylon plugs inside the tail where the wire brackets are bolted, or do you think the gussets will distribute the crush forces adequately? Really enjoying watching the build!
How are you figuring it out without instructions? I'm considering ordering a Sopwith Camel to build from Airdrome Aeroplanes too because I think it would be a fun project. I've never built a plane before. How are you doing it without instructions?
The kit comes with A4 size plans with contradictions. A dvd of a Fokker D7 build very rushed and and written notes building a Fokker dr1. So I am muddling my way through it and plenty of calls. Cheers
