HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY: THE BEST TYPE FOR YOU ?? I get so many questions on what is the best type of hormone therapy for symptomatic menopause. The answer to that question is what makes my medical training so special: Its is science and the art of medicine. In this video, I break down how I start to make those decisions, but this is not direct medical advice. Please use this as education only to start the conversation with your doctor. Comment below and tell me how long it took you to get the right dose and route of hormone therapy.

I am absolutely thrilled that I founded you! This kind of education is so needed! You are doing an amazing job of bringing knowledge to many women. All your hard work is truly appreciated!!!! I spent 2 days listening to your posts. Personally entering the menopause phase (52 years old) of my life and I have been seeking more education on that topic. I am a dietitian and see so many of my clients struggle with symptoms of menopause and often don't even realized that there is a solution. Questions about dose for estrogen and progesterone, what do you start typing with? and do you do daily progesterone or only in phases? Since I am in MA, I hope I will be able to book an appointment with you shortly!!!

Likewise! I really love that I customize E and P dosing for each of my patients. It really depends on their symptoms and goals. That being said, the closer women are to menopause, cycling the progesterone can be helpful as bleeding is still common. I have openings so please call to schedule either in person or virtual! So glad Angie has been highlighting my channel - she is a great role model to me in all that she has done with her channel and educating women :)

I just discovered you and I am obsessed. Between RU-vid, TikTok, Instagram etc… You are amazing🙌🏻♥️ I am 55, perfectly healthy. I tried every patch, gel and ring. I am currently on the Femring which I switch out once a month (although it should be every 90 days). I asked my gynecologist for a “boost” to the Femring as I still have symptoms. She added .5 Estrace oral pill. I am still having symptoms. Maybe the Femring isn’t for me. I am so confused on weather I should be using two forms of HRT at once. Thank you for your time. Not only you are so knowledgeable, but also have a great sense of humor. Thank you

Whatever combo you may decide on there are many studies showing increased CRP with oral. Patches don't show that same increase.

Yes , thank you ! The lack of education in this area is both very frustrating and sad ! I fought through menopause, had no insurance! Lost 6 relatives in a year , sadly starting with the gross willful negligence of my dads death from a hospital. Was seeing a DCP ( direct care pay Dr . ) we did hormone labs , I had none ! Still no suggestions referrals . I was just completely heartbroken at the murder of my dad , still working on his lawsuit ! I have been admitted to the psychiatric ward 2 xs in 3 year s ! The first was insomnia, 3 days of NO sleep ! The 2nd recently honestly just felt like a nervous breakdown! Just got insurance starting to get help and mske away , learning wow you have to be your own advocate and push snd push ! Found out I had tested positive for Epstein Barr virus , dealing with some mold in our house just got fixed ! I believe I still have a fungal infection so trying to see an infectious disease Dr! HORMONES, ok so I guess at 53 I’m Postmenepausal now . My Dr put me on I think .01 mg of testosterone injections 1x a week , my testosterone was a 1 ! My estrogen was a less than 5 . So I’ve been on the genetic of the Vivelle Estrogen patch for one month . Now estrogen is at 52 . Still on the low end but improving. My dose is .25 2xs week , it’s helping just a tiny bit. ! I still struggle with depression, mood swings , insomnia , my circadian rythem flipped about a year ago to that of like a night shift worker ! I cannot sleep till around 7 am then I have to get some sleep during the day , just causes more depression. Since I got insurance just 3 months ago I think I’ve had min like 12 Dr appts I’m tying ! My question is do you think my estrogen dosage should be increased? My main complaints were insomnia and depression! And maybe just a tiny noticeable change !! Thank you for all of your knowledge, we need more wonder/ educated drs like you !!💗

Feel for you, really do. As a fellow sufferer I know how hard it can be. I can barely get through my never-ending menopause, totally debilitating and suffering alone. The change in the circadian rhythm is less talked about symptom, but I know it is very real as I am going through it too. You had to go through traumatic events as well, while it can be so hard to deal with just on its own. Can't imagine how hard it must be. If you live in the US, I think you should consult Dr. Hirsch. She definitely knows what she is talking about. From where I am, they don't even want to acknowledge it as a problem, let alone prescribe HRT.

How would hypothyroidism affect what I should take? Also wondering who should take estrogen and progesterone versus just the estrogen?
@heatherhirschMD

I simply check a TSH 1 month after starting estrogen. You need to take progesterone if you still have a uterus, or you can increase the risk of uterine cancer.

So happy I found you! Omg! I am 46, 1 year of menopause. Flushes were crazy, like every 40 minutes non stop. On the patches now estradiolum 50mg+ norethisteroni 170mg. Tried tibolob but had very much of burning sensation on my breasts, so doctor recommended patches. A bit worried as read that one component medication is safer than 2 component. Is this true? Thank you!

Hi! Angie talked about you on one of her videos, so here I am. I am 52, taking estradiol/norethindrone orally, I've been overall happy with it, I still get some hot flashes at night, should I explore another one? Also, can you talk about the cost of oral vs patch vs gel. Another question, does one take HT for the rest of our lives? Thank you!

HI Mariza - you should tell your doc you are still having symptoms and maybe check estradiol to see if you could use a bit more. the cost of HT is based a lot on one's individual insurance profile, so I can never guess right off the bat!

I tried oral Estradiol and gained 10 lbs of belly fat which I’ve learned can happen with oral Estradiol. Then I did nothing for a while. Now I’m on first round pellets of pellets and not pleased. Heart palpitations.. acne. More weight gain. And messed up my synthroid dose. I have type 1 diabetes and hypothyroid. Considering patch now but do tend to have issues with adhesives. But still want to give them a try.

If you are overweight or obese as I am, the estrogen PATCH DID NOT WORK. I wasted money and time with the patch. It has not been 'proven' with the estrogen patch, but gynecologists know birth control patches do not work in overweight/ obese women. P.s. have been on oral estrogen for about six months and my hair is denser at the scalp, so do not think you will lose that perk by not using the patch.
