I was going to grab another similar safe sold at Walmart or Harbor Freight for $20, luckily I came across this Hornady safe at Tractor supply for $30. That extra $10 is worth it, with a better lock, included cable, and foam padding.

Everything you said is spot on. Of course this under $40 lock box isn't going to be impenetrable, but it provides sufficient protection to deter 99% of criminals. I can't say I've owned it for long enough to really comment on it's durability but it seems well made and I have been very happy with it.

Best car security solution? Keep a low profile, no flashy car, nothing in sight inside vehicle, no slogan bumper stickers, and avoid parking car in any marginal area, or off beaten path if at all possible.

Very good and informative. As a previous comment, this box makes it hard to impossible for the quick "smash & grab" opportunist criminal and you demonstrated responsibility should you have to temporally have to leave your valuable unattended. 👍

I have the safe lock box basically the same... I have mine bolted to the floor in my truck.... every firearm owner needs some type of safe for their car... cause u never know when you my have to go inside a place where you can't take your firearm at least it will be safe.... because most smash & grab punks not walking around with bolt cutters..to cut the cable

Yep! At this price I'll be getting one for me and the wife. That's right, my wife owns a carry firearm and she's a wicked good shot...lol!

Stay away from STACK-ON. Mine fell off the seat, popped right open. (Electronic lock) Then i bought one that was biometric. Does not work if fingers are pruned up from the pool. Just my experience.

Do you think the box has room for the gun still in the holster ?

Buy the smallest model available of this type that will fit your gun and stash it out of sight. Preferably NOT under your seat. Don't leave any type of evidence in/on the car that you're a hunter or gun owner (no NRA stickers). Like he says...it's a temorary solution for "in the building" use while parked out in plain sight. Lock is pickable by an average lock picker.

This is good if you have an expensive firearm IF your vehicle does not have a lock glove box compartment and you will be away from your firearm for awhile such as work hours... Me personally if I'm away from my firearm for sometime and i have to leave it in my car locked in my compartment, i always take the cheapest firearm that i have, that way if it's ever stolen, i can replace it without it hurting my bank account. Always carry according to your Destination on where you're going.

Having openings for the cable lock on both sides of the box, defeats the purpose of having the internal lip. That additional opening allows something to be inserted; which the internal lip was supposed to prevent.

My brother has an auto shop and a tow truck company but he’s in his tow truck all the time he just don’t tow cars he chose for the department of Defense he does a lot of armor SUVs cars dance more issues than anything and Dundalk marine terminal and there’s another company like bulk items like when I go with him we want to go pick up three vending machines one day and the customer he started out with him before but we were picked up the stuff and he had to take his forklift jersey I can’t remember if the guy had one or not but literally it was like a half hour ride and he made 750 for dropping it off a half hour later than a guy I asked him he said do you mind dropping him off for me he said it’s in Baltimore city three different areas and we grew up in Baltimore when we were younger but it’s definitely different neighborhood now but that doesn’t it’s not a big deal now you’re safe doing it and be aware of your surroundings in once we got one of them off the truck and and the door I will just run back out and sit in the truck to make sure nobody tried your hand because this world is getting nuts trying to remember what is it I know it’s always been crazy but it seems like it got a lot worse at the cove it I don’t know if it’s just me because I really don’t pay tension because every time I don’t even watch the news on my cell watching on RU-vid all the local news channels because that’s all you hear is shootings and people killed and I’ll try to show my wife and I really want her to she’s already got her gun permit to carry and she doesn’t listen to me I’m telling you you’re gonna wish one day that you listen to me because a lot of crazy things has happened in the past few years people just shoot just to shoot Animo lie it makes me one too it bulletproof windows in the vehicle and like the sides of the door and I pretty much did they shoot the engine block that’s coming it’s out and maybe keep something in the trunk I made up the hatch of the SUV besides the border proof glass like it’s crazy to go things like that but that’s just how it is and she doesn’t I always tell her to go somewhere she’s like you’re always looking for trouble so I’m not looking for trouble so I keep my head on a swivel like I’m kind of pretty good at like reading people that are up to no good sometimes you can’t even do that I don’t live in Baltimore city anymore I live in a nice area Baltimore County but there’s crimes everywhere especially shootings yeah I am gonna have to get more of these boxes like yours I want to get my brother one for a tow truck something bro somebody looks in there you can’t really see it you’re gonna slide up on to see and I also tell him that little single cam you have just pointing out of the windshield I said you really need to have cameras all the way around and surveillance somebody is near your truck it will automatically come on or if your party night it’s hooked up to your Wi-Fi I like your truck is it watch it all the time if somebody gets near it but I swear dude he does not listen to me for no reason at all I like it, aggravates me because I want nothing to happen I was kind of thinking about scaring his ass one day just to see if you got a little smarter

Honestly, it appears the weakest point in that system, is the point that the cable attaches to the box. It could possibly be snatched loose, and ripped out! If its mounted in a location, with space. But, it is better than nothing! And I like the other selling points.
