Indeed you can very easily get caught up in the numbers. That is the wonderful thing about our craft though you can take it as far as you like. @@HandloaderTV I consider each step taken to be a variable. More variables = more stacked tolerances. Furthermore, production time is a performance criterion. If each round is so labor intensive that its value including labor exceeds the cost to me of buying match ammo, it must substantially exceed the performance of match to justify it. Perhaps it is interesting in small volumes as a developmental process or as a proof of concept, but it is not something I would continue. Bottom line is if people make reloading too complicated, they generally stop doing it.
@@GunFunZS There are merits to the less is more philosophy and I agree when using good components. I also know there are reloaders and handloaders guys who like to tinker and squeeze as much accuracy as possible out of their ammo. We like to tinker and showcase our results it hopefully helps our audience determine if they want to measure, sort and compare for a group that is .3" tighter. To each their own and its only as complicated as you make it. At it's core reloading is a very simple and easy process you can take that as far as you like depending on what you want out of your ammo.

Whenever you point at something and say like this here, or right here etc it would be nice if the camera was zoomed in on your hand. Hard for me to exactly what you're talking about. That said when did zoom in it was very informative on the processes. I've been thinking about one of these since I first heard of it. Thanks

hi, its really interesting measuring instrument to honest, but can i know how do you calibrate this PMS? what kind of standard that you used? In which lab we can do the calibration for this PMS?
So as far as we are aware there is no set standard for this particular unit. So you are relaying on quality control from Hornady and whichever instruments they choose to use for this kit. In our testing with other calibrated dial indicators the indicator was reading correctly to .0005" which is pretty good. There are gauge blocks and other things you can use to check calibration of the dial indicator and check the flatness of the base to ensure you are getting accurate readings. Also as stated in the video it is a great unit to compare measurements and ammunition rather than use it to take measurements. So you have a uniform test platform and it makes for accurate comparison. Hopefully that makes sense. Thank you for watching.
I subscribe to the Handloader Ammunition Reloading Journal. There are many new people that are getting into reloading due to the ammo shortage. Just try to buy small pistol primers. I think there is a huge need to get back to basics and have info on the common calibers such as 9mm, 45ACP, and 38 special/ 357 magnum. Seems like the focus is on to many "ODD" and less popular calibers. The new reloaders will need expert advise to adopt safe reloading practices. Please focus on the basics.
