This video is a big joke, most of the scenes that are displayed, are not showing anything about the superiority of the SH. Almost all those scenes are just random parts, which show not locked targets ! You try to make believe people things which are not true by doing that. Example, the SH vs Rafale at 4:30, there was no locking at all, the HUD display clearly just passed beside the Rafale. Nothing enough long and precise which could be a real locking. The Rafale really did avoid very well !
You are mistaken, the box in the top left corner that appears indicates trigger down time. That would have been a splash had that gun been armed and loaded. That's exactly how kills are confirmed in training.

The hornet was never designed to be an air superiority fighter. Although it can fight in air to air engagements... it isn't as good as the F14 it the f15 or f16 in those roles.

You're missing the point here. The "pilot" that's being quoted is only referencing controlled training environments. (Mainly BFM, by the sound of it. If you're unfamiliar with what BFM is, and why it's not an accurate representation of what aircraft could spank what, then you should leave) Any schmuck with half a brain knows that the F-18 is better for BFM than the F-14. Taylor stated that the F-18 isn't an air superiority fighter, and he's correct. It is an extremely versatile, multirole aircraft. Would it wipe the floor with an F-14 in BFM? Absolutely. The Hornet has extraordinary low speed maneuverability, and outclasses the Tomcat in that ONE aspect. The F-14 is a big ass airplane. It has nearly twice the empty weight of a C model Hornet. However, the Tomcat can carry a larger volume of longer range air to air missiles, has a higher top speed, and a longer range. Air superiority fighters are designed to destroy all the enemies aircraft as quickly as possible. Getting in a wasteful, time consuming knife fight isn't the idea. Also, the F-18L was never mass produced, and isn't used by any Air Force in the entire world. Please stop bringing it up. Additionally, "tailgate" is just some random user on a forum. no. both Super Hornet and Su-30MKM are very capable machines, in their own way. RMAF initially wanted to buy Super Hornets to augment their existing Hornet fleet, but due to another govt deal with Russia, they had to pick Su-30MK instead. it borrowed a lot of Thales stuff from the Rafale and they can carry NATO ordnance because it has to do Super Hornet roles. Think of the MKM as a giant Rafale or a stupidly agile Super Hornet. In fact the Malaysian Air Force are still looking to buy Hornets these days.
