Hornet II is a stepped-hull hydroplane race boat built in 1930 by Gar Wood. It was owned and raced on Lake Tahoe (1935-1956) by famed 20th century industrialist Henry J. Kaiser. Hornet II has been powered by a number of vintage V12 aero engines, including a WWI Liberty, a rare Packard Model 1A-1237, a WWII Allison and a WWII Rolls-Royce. The 1939 art-deco aircraft aluminum deck is believed to have been built by Kaiser's friend and business partner Howard Hughes. Kaiser changed the name of Hornet II to "Fleur du Lac" after WWII.
