I remember wondering what they'd look like with Rodman, what his hair would look like. Rodman was the whole pull that first game. Crazy that this deal had just come together like a month earlier. We were all excited to see it. Rodman with Pippen and Jordan??? C'mon man. That was like the Joker joining up with Batman and Robin. 4:10 MJ gives everyone a preview of how he will kill all of you for the next three years.
I watched this live too! I remember it was a Friday night so we checked it at a sports bar. Regarding the number thing, commentator says Rodman wanted '0' but couldn't have it so went with '91' because it was the closest he could get to zero. That doesn't make sense, '1' and '99' would be the closest jersey numbers to zero, and they were both available. I read in Sports Illustrated at the time that Rodman wanted '10' but couldn't have it because it was retired for Bob Love, so he went with "9+1" to get as close to '10' as possible. I always remembered that because of how clever it was and how odd and cool the '91' looked on him, it was a perfect match to him as a person
