With rich people addin’ extra golden horns to their heads, it must cause some neck pain. Adds some real meaning behind “heavy is the head that wears the crown”. Thats some fabtastic world buildin’ right there that is. What kind of animals in their area do they get bones and ivory from? Are materials from exotic, far away animals more prized?

Oh yeah, some shady trader is trying to dupe some rich fool into thinking some carved ivory is a unicorn horn.

There's something similar with a group called the Longilo Tribe in my own setting. Longilos are massive, bison-like creatures that are extremely long and have many legs (a bit like centipedes... or a more extreme version of Appa from ATLA). They also have massive deer-like antlers, structurally somewhat like a nest of "thorns" (dagger-sized) that present a wall of death to smaller threats with some "grand spikes" (bigger than a person) for larger problems, and their legs are surprisingly flexible for kicking purposes and end in hard, heavy hooves. The Afterworld is the kinda setting where something big enough that you can build a row of houses along its back needs means of defending itself other than "just step on or bodyslam it lol." They do not need to sleep, though they will stop to eat. Their core muscles are stupidly strong, letting them pull off some surprising snakey climbing moves when moving up and down cliffs in their natural environment, the Derrippi Mountains. They're chill with animals riding on them, especially ones that get rid of the dog-sized ticks and fungi that like to infest their fur, and through that are integral to preventing species that live within the mountains but aren't otherwise capable of travelling within them from becoming super inbred (as otherwise they'd be in separate, small, genetically isolated pockets). Humans are technically capable of travel within the mountains without longilos because big brain goes brrr, but hopping on a longilo is a lot easier. Longilos are pretty clever, comparable to elephants, and herds will even have internal cultures affected by the experiences of previous generations, and they have exceptionally long lifespans. Individual longilos also have a lot of personality, which in combination with each having a somewhat unique appearance in their faces, horns, fur colouration and other details means it's easy to tell them apart. Herds typically have 10-30 adult members, though they'll often temporarily merge for things like moving through dangerous areas, reproduction (after merged herds split, young males typically go with the herd they weren't born in), etc. The Longilo Tribe are a group that work alongside an unusual herd, which follows the tribe's guidance, which is very unusual for longilos that normally have a "you can chill on my back, but you cannot control when and where I go" mentality. It's also abnormally large. Members of the tribe will sometimes plant pieces of longilo horn into their skull, in which case it can grow outwards into an antler like those of the longilos. Longilos are slightly more likely to listen to people who have these antlers, likely because of their smell and how they're similar to the antlers that longilo foals have.

I'm not really the type for horns. I have a question though: If the priest glue a horn the the back of their head, how do they sleep comfortably?

Very interesting ideas. I must admit that it reminds me a lot of my world, in which the main race are Aspirians, who have various types of horns. It's true that in their case these are physical horns and here they are made, but in my world there are also various overlays and decorations with different symbolism. I love this topic.

Very nice video. Your style reminds me a lot of Nekari Speardane, another great worldbuilding channel. Please keep sharing your worlds!

Okay, a question, or two. Since there is a ceremony to attach the horns, would there be one possible to remove them? Either for gender transitioning (could you get a new set?) or punitive purposes (I imagine that not having any horns after the age of 16 is quite undesirable socially). Or would they just be filed down and replaced by jewlry or...nothing? This is so interesting! Ugh, I love this.

I think there is probably a way to remove the horns and replace them with new ones. To them it's sorta like top and bottom surgery

YAAAY I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER WORLD BUILDING CHANNEL TO BINGE! I love this so much, ive never really thought about the concept of permanently applying horns instead of having a species that grows them. This is a really really fun idea and this video is super inspirational
