Fiddlers Rally is such an awesome tune. OK it's got eight separate parts with no repeats, but so do many other Pipe tunes. I've played it now for many years and the parts are not hard to remember, if you practice. But I do have to admit that Duncan Johnston plays it splendidly!!
Urm..The High A in this clip is just about perfect. There is still a school of thought that it's a good idea to have the High A sounding a tad flat. I don't subscribe to that. Listen to any professional player today. The High A is pitched exactly in tune with the rest of the chanter. That's just what Martin achieves here.
IMO,having a flat high A defeats the purpose of tuning the chanter.The "warbling" of a flat A aginst the drones is quite annoying. As would be an out of tune guitar. I'm with Riperpiper on this.
