Hornpipe & Jig: Duncan Johnstone, Fiddlers' Rally 

Toughest part of memorizing Fiddler's Rally is the memory. 8 parts, no repeats, that's a lot of music to learn.

Fiddlers Rally is such an awesome tune. OK it's got eight separate parts with no repeats, but so do many other Pipe tunes. I've played it now for many years and the parts are not hard to remember, if you practice. But I do have to admit that Duncan Johnston plays it splendidly!!

This has to be one of my fave tunes on pipes and my name's DUNCAN!!!

You can get the music for Duncan Johnstone in Scots Guards Volume II page 154 tune#774. Now i'm off to find fiddler's rally.

i would say what a great performance and played with great finger control, i would say that it was played straight but no way rounded.

@Riperpiper It is almost perfect, it's a bit sharp because he seems to be overblowing the tiniest tad possible. It is very good though.

He missed an E gracenote in the triplet in the 1st bar of the 3rd part of Fiddler's Rally :P

this is why i like it when a high A crows a little his A is getting lost in the drones

Aye, no bad but have a look at the staff notation again-especially the hornpipe. :)

Urm..The High A in this clip is just about perfect. There is still a school of thought that it's a good idea to have the High A sounding a tad flat. I don't subscribe to that. Listen to any professional player today. The High A is pitched exactly in tune with the rest of the chanter. That's just what Martin achieves here.

IMO,having a flat high A defeats the purpose of tuning the chanter.The "warbling" of a flat A aginst the drones is quite annoying. As would be an out of tune guitar. I'm with Riperpiper on this.
