Ammar, this is traditional Kazakh music...Very typical to us, this is how Kazakh songs like...And you probably know that this song was written 100 years ago by one young man who was forced to war into Russia and he actually says googbye to his parants and his homeland called Samal mountain. Tau in Kazakh means mountain...so, it is very Kazakh song))
I wish dimash would release a whole album or albums of Kazakh songs.. I’d pay whatever amount of money & listen to them all day every day! I don’t know why he doesn’t, he doesn’t need a label even- my friends release to iTunes all the time 😞

She has a gorgeous home and dining room set for guests and they will eat that way when they have guests . She sings sitting . My husband was Native American and they sing sitting . You might like this performance of Samaltau from a concert . I think it’s the one belt -he’s standing on a blue type stage that looks to me like a Silk Road river and I love that performance as well . He does it a little differently . Your reaction is wonderful. Just like I feel every time you do Dimash. Samaltau is one of 4 performances that I've seen from him that all honor his country. All four are among his very best and most moving performances. Besides Samaltau, there is "Kazakhstan", "daididau", and "Quiran Elim". I've probably forgotten at least one or two as well.
That thing that makes the water sound is called a rain stick. I'm not 100 certain, others please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it has small pebbles in it that make the running water noise as the tube is tipped.

I love Samaltau. It paints such a beautiful picture. I prefer this particular version. I like the addition of the flute and the rain stick. Add to that the fact that you can clearly see here that this song means something to him on a deep Level.
Dear, Chinese music is not available here. This is a real Kazakh (Turkic) melody. Without the influence of Persian, Arabic, Chinese, Indian music. We, Kazakhs, sing our songs in a melodiously full voice, not misusing unnecessary melism. With all due respect.
You are the only person I have heard who did not like the camera and shooting!!! Everyone else loved it..very intimate...You are aware that this was shot during the pandemic...the artists did live preformances , but not from a large audience or stage??

Hi Ammar, Great reaction. Dimash should have been in Japan performing this in May but of course like everything else it was postponed until they had set up all the virtual performances. I'vve never picked up on the camera work, this was recorded in his home studio but dont know who did the filming. 👌👌👌😊😊
Don’t agree with you about the camera work. I think it was beautifully filmed and presented. This is a masterpiece of music at. His composure and control is something else. Not to mention his interpretation and arrangement. I find the more I view it the more it seeps deeper into my soul. Yes....it’s incredible. He’s sitting on a stool cross-legged and produces those rich weighty vocals. That belt never fails to give me goosebumps.
Hi Ammar! That sitting position is very normal in the rural areas of Kazakhstan. People sit on the floor, play traditional instruments like dombra or string instrument kobyz (like in this video) and sing songs or "terme" (story telling long songs like those of Um Koulsum). We are bedouins after all and it makes us similar to pure Jordanian people. Greetings from Kazakhstan.

Samaltau , is a song about one soldier who must go to the war but it is not his war, it is not the war of his people. It is a first world war, in the begining of 20th centure.

The language is Kazakh, which is a Turkic language. But Kazakhstan was part of the silk road, the grand steppes.... you had hordes of warriors crossing in different directions in different centuries... so it's no surprise that you are hearing influences from surrounding cultures.
It’s traditional and authentic türkic music and instruments without any influences of other cultures. Bcs Türks are very strong to save their own traditional identity along with all elements, especially central asian nomadic türkic tribes. As I’m kazakh and we studied the history of musical instruments.
