This isn't a horror movie, this is an emotional roller-coaster.

When you are so depressed even your inner demons try to help.

The complexity of this short film is absolutely insane. The amount of effort they put in to craft such a masterpiece is incommensurable. They really showcased the grief, anxiety, depression, and fears of the kid within all the monsters. The lesson as play is that to overcome ones fears they must first accept them. Marvelous. The kid was scared of the monsters, but to get past them, he must work with them.

I lost my father a few months ago… lost him too early.. the way grief is depicted as this monstrous thing but at the end it’s the thing that shows you what a beautiful life you had together is just poetic and perfect. Thank you for making this

"Do you want this movie to be sad, scary or heartwarming?" "Yes."

This was amazing. The monsters themselves being represented as grief and fear after a loved one dies. We try to ignore and run away from our feelings. But the intensity of these emotions is meant to show how much we loved them. How beautiful the memories that we made with them are. Even though our time with them may have ended, the time we did have was beautiful.

This hit way harder than I expected. Just. Clenched teeth, tears streaming down my face, an ache deep in my chest and a bubble in my throat. And I’m not even sure why. It’s like this film just reached inside of me and unlocked a space in my heart I didn’t know was there

Okay. I legit teared up watching this. The atmosphere, the silent storytelling, the ENDING. The design of the monsters, frightening and ugly. But when you stop for a second, you realize they look... pitiable. Anger, grief, sorrow, pain. These are all UGLY emotions. It hurts to touch, like all the spikes poking from them. They feel twisted and loathsome inside you. They're scary to have. But they are human emotions, and the most empathetic of them. The demons tearing apart the house, and the boy's reminders of his father, only to put them back together in a new, beautiful shape... there must be an easier way to explain it, but like, broken things can still be beautiful. Or beautiful things can still be made from broke things. I don't know. But this was SO BEAUTIFUL!

Accepting grief is really the only way to ever move forward. But especially with a story like this it iunbelievably hard. Not only because he is so young, but because of the uncertaint that you can have in situations like this. Sometimes soldiers are never found. But even if they are, sometimes there is no body to bury, That makes it so abstract, so unclear, so much harder to say goodbye and it prevents us from moving forward with our lifes.

This isn’t just horror, this is also ✨ *ART* ✨

They weren't tearing apart his possessions, they were acquiring the pieces to mend his broken heart.. 😢😭😭😭

What I expected: _A creepy horror animation with jumpscares and fear factor_ What I got: _An emotional and beautifully made silent story about mending a broken heart due to the loss of a father_ I am not disappointed. *Worth it!*

This is quite possibly the most gorgeous art I have ever seen. Absolutely blown away by the animation. The light, the colours, the textures, the fluid movement of the characters. Not to even mention the story it all brings to life. This is stunning in every way.

A revelation of how our tragic past can turn into something magical. The film shows how the monsters (hunting past) chase about the child in every room of the house where he and his father had memories, at first it had a vibe of thrill and horror because this is how we feel when we keep on running away from our unresolved hurts. Finally, come to a point where we can no longer contain it then we just burst out, hence the scream, and surrender to accept what had happened, from there we can create an exceptional and magical work of art that is where the monsters or our past ceases to hunt us.

Who else liked the monsters in the end and didn’t want them to disappear

This is Pixar quality animation. Wow, whoever made this has serious talent.

I went into this expecting a horror piece, and I left in tears. Holy cow, what a beautiful work of art. The visuals, the sound design, the story. Fantastic.

SPOILER Summary: The kid's father promised they would finish building the Ferris Wheel(La Noria) when he returned form the war. His father died in the war and never returned, and the little kid was left to grieve his father's death, with the ferris wheel constantly reminding him of the broken promise. The Fish-like monster with the hole in its chest may be a representation of the hole in the boy's heart left by his father's death, or how the father might've died.

this is not a horror short film, this is a sad short film

Horror film is supposed to be terrifying, but wtf is this!? This is the only horror film that bring me tears! Beautiful! 😭

Addresses every issue that young children have: fear of the dark, isolation, and monsters. Superbly done. I can't add anything else.

Let's be honest here, the animation is better than Disney.

The short Film beautifully captures what grief is like. At first the loss of someone eats you up with anger and sadness and all of the emotions that rip you apart, but then you get over over the loss of this loved one and instead you start celebrating their life and all the happy memories that came with them. This is when you finally come to terms with their death, yes the pain, the monsters are still there, but you have come to accept it and learn to look at the brighter side of things.

I went into this expecting a regular horror short, and ended up absolutely bawling my eyes out. This hit me really close to home, as I've lost a few very important people in my life, and seeing it portrayed so perfectly really makes me happy, but man I didn't realize I needed this until now. Thank you for this, it was beautiful, and I really needed it.

My heart knew I needed to see this. When my Dad died, I feel into depression and gave into my demons. I felt that weight of loss so much that I lost myself for a while, trying to find myself in loveless relationships and at the bottom of too many bottles, trying to become numb from the pain I truly felt. It wasn't until I accepted the pain that I finally let myself heal. If I could ever describe what it was like, this would be close. The anger and fear and suffering from loss this kid felt, to the beautiful way it transformed when he finally had acceptance of that loss. Thanks for making this amazing video and sharing it with us all. I felt this in my soul.

When you click on it because you're expecting a scary movie, but find yourself crying at the end because it's just too damn real and hits so close to home . . .

First time I watched this when it first came out, I cried like a baby. It’s so sad in a way yet beautiful in a way. Damn this short film is a tear jerker 😢

It's the monsters crying after for me. Out of heartbreak, out of finally finding an expression to their pain. Of beautiful happiness.

This one brought me to tears and not many films do! The portrayal of the different stages of grief; denial and pushing the grief away and then accepting and and embracing it was portrayed very beautifully!

I just lost my father back in February of last year and this hit me so hard. I went in totally blind and by the end I had tears spilling down my face. This is truly a work of art.

One of the best animated features I've seen in a while. Its the perfect example of how less is more, the unspoken elements of the story just like their being no dialogue, it allows you to understand more then words can. This is how you make a movie.

When you and your sleep paralysis demon are close

Me: *Depressed , Loneliness , No Social stuff* My demons under my bed: *Hey Kid , wanna play Grand theft auto ?*

The scariest part is how deformed they look. How some are connected. The muffled cries. How they just kept coming and wouldn’t stop…that got me.

An absolutely brilliant film and music. I watched it several times in a row and each time picked up on more details. This film didn't need words because his facial expressions spoke loud and clear.

Kid: Can't finish the ferris wheel. Boogeymen: Don't worry, we got your back.

My personal interpretation is: The boy once lived happily with his family. His father bought him the ferris wheel before going to war, as a promise he would come back home. - *THE TRANSLATED LETTER:* "Hello, kiddo. I'm on my way to Jeruel. I want to tell you I love you very much and we'll finish the ferris wheel when I come back. Dad." - His father went to war and the boy kept waiting for him, but this was difficult times. I guess his mother died and he was completely alone. His only companions were his toys. The drawings were manifestations of emotional suffering, sickness or hunger. There's a picture of a monster with a hole on his chest or stomach, meaning that the boy was probably feeling pain in those areas. I think he was sick and hungry; struggled and eventually collapsed. That was when the ferris wheel fell apart. He knew the monsters were coming for him, but he didn't want to give up just yet, he was still waiting for his father to come back. 3:01 I can't quite hear the screams very well, I guess he shouted: "No quiero que vuelvas" ("I don't want you to come back"). If so, I think the monsters were trying to make him let go of what was holding his spirit, even the pictures fade. I'm not a spanish speaker, so it could be some other word! The monsters were trying to "guide" him to the other side, but he was reluctant, running away from the monsters. But the monsters were showing the way, using the Christmas lights. He got tired and finally succumbed to his death. I think the mirror breaking meant he finally closed the door between the world of the living. Then, facing the missing-heart monster, he place his heart on his chest and knew he was finally dead. His heart stopped beating. The monsters lead him to the almost finished farris wheel and showed him a false memory so he could go in peace. It reminds me of Over the Garden Wall!

This was a very touching short, I felt like I wanted to console the little boy it was sad, then anxious for him, but then I worried about how he was going to handle his grief, by the end then I was proud of him. ANY film that can make you feel several emotions in one sitting is a true creation of art. Beautifully done & the animation was absolutely incredible! 💯 %!!!!

This short film has made me cry like a little boy. It is absolutely a masterpiece, because it highlights our fears, our anxieties, and anxieties. Thanks to the authors involved.

I loved how the monsters represented all of the kid's fears and anxieties, but once he learned to let go of the grief of his dad's death, the disappeared and turned into the wonder and newfound happiness in his life props to everyone who made this

Been watching your horror shorts for literally hours now and man, I didn't expect to be crying because of them but this one got me good. amazing animation and gave me the feels while also being quite creepy. This and another animated short "death and the winemaker" are my favourites. Seems like I have a love for animated things lol

OK Everybody: this is a short movie about *the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War and reconciliation*. The teddy bear wears a "gorrillo miliciano" the cap of the Republican Militia. The kid's father is seen in the photos as a Republican Militiaman himself in the photos in the box where there is a postcard saying he will help the son finish the wheel when he comes back. All the toys and settings are pre WWII. The photo frame with the disappearing photos (and top left out of the frame we see the kids's father again with the Republican cap) is a metaphor of how Franco's regime blotted out the history of the Republican side and its people. The black monsters that have taken over the house (Spain) are the Franchist (also called" los negros", the black like the Fascists). They look forlorn and are attracted by bright lights of an happier pre war Spain. Also they lament having no heart as a Civil war tears a nation apart. The monster though try to reconstruct the wheel and they have preserved all the things in their own way. They realize that a whole Spain needs everybody so they repair the (significantly red) centerpiece and only when the kid (the post war generations) spins the wheel it starts to work again in harmony.

One of the saddest, most evocative films I've ever seen. A sad, beautiful exploration of grief.

Those seem to be manifestations of his pain. He didn't let himself grieve and it ate away at him until he found peace with what happened.

it is really so beautifully brought out on the screen about our anxiety and fears represented as scary creatures, not only kids but i guess every being. i really appreciate the director and the writer for mesmerizing us with this short film which should be really shown to the helpless people with unstable mental health so they try to come out of such situation. i hope everyone who sees this film will cry out loud, and overcome such imaginary creatures

I watched this when it was still relativley new, and I was about fifteen at the time. Two things you should know about me during this time; Just like today, I was a story and mostly film enthusiast. But back then I didn't really understand the intricacies of story telling, and most of my own story ideas were basically equivilant to a Marvel movie (big action, super awesome sci-fi and magic, rule of cool over everything else, ect.) but without any of the charm. Another thing was that I was going through a *ROUGH* time in high school. Back then I thought that closing off my emotions and not caring about other people was the right way to live life. ...and then I watched this. I think this short film touched me in a way that no other movie, book, show, or anything else has ever touched me before. I swear this short forced all of my pent up feelings to come flooding out, and I can confidently say I was *sobbing.* At the time I thought this was the most beautiful thing mankind could ever concive. After this I started caring about people and being more open about my feelings. Also, I don't think I acknowleged it immediatly back then, but this short film also shifted my perspective in storytelling. Since that day I've cared a lot more about other aspects of stores, like emotional beats, character development, symbolism. Today I re-watched this short film, and I pretty much felt the same way I did back then; I cried, and I still think this is one of the greatest pieces of media that's been put into the world. I want to thank everyone who was involved in this short's creation for this wonderful work of art. You changed my life.

Just beautiful. Kinda reminded me of A Monster Calls. That vibe where the monster teaches the child how to deal with pain and grief. Still terrifying because of the things missing at the beginning... wtf!!! Amazing job!

The sound design for the creatures was so great

god I love how sneakily the ending is set up - the monsters were never trying to catch him, they just wanted the materials and to get the boy to that upstairs room

The monsters were a projection of his pain, so when he expressed his emotions and repressed pain that he had felt had been chasing him, the beings purely projected of his pain and emotion then became truly represented as not menacing, but subjects of extreme sensitivity and pain created from years of trauma and betrayal. Our thoughts and can be our worst Monsters, but simultaneously our most empathetic companions: expressing our emotion is the key to confronting those repressed thoughts and pain; and resolving the effects of our trauma by looking them in the eye ; the effect here seen, the trauma had began to grow seeds of thought, personified as these creatures; that were reflections of their environments, and echo of that trauma. Heartless environment, heartless product. You must however shed light on the darkness to cease its spread.

This hit like no other. The metaphor of hiding from your demons, you cant run from greif, anxiety depression or any mental emotion. Sometimes facing them you start to learn and live. Simply beautiful.
