Thanks to B&W Equine Vets for letting me video their free lecture demonstration evening. Sarah Hayes MRCVS gave the lecture.
Video explains different types of wound and how horses heal. There are demonstrations of how to dress and bandage wounds at different locations on the horse - foreleg, hind leg, on the hock, above the hock and the foot.
There is also a review of the recommended contents of a horse owners first aid kit.

We use duckt tape to secure Elastakon around the belly of a C-section or around a belly band for a mare with a VERY large belly during pregnancy. The duckt tape holds well and when the vets put it on they make sure that the horse can still breath. This way the belly band doesnt snap off and the elastikon covering the bandages doesn't peel off as easy

My horse doesn't let me touch her leg. We just bought her and she cut herself on the wire and it's a pretty big gash but she wont let us touch her.. cant get a vet until tomorrow but I want to try and help her what should I do?
