In this video we go off to one of our local horse shows to do some in hand showing and the junior beginners ridden show
Willow and Lewis had an amazing day coming 1st in all there classes, 2x reserve champions and 1x champion

Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my RU-vid channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your riding journey quicker than I did on mine.

I compete my 4 Welsh section D cobs regularly in both in hand and ridden showing, from local level shows, affiliated, WPCS, RIHS, to HOYS qualifiers,
Willow - 11yr old Welsh section D - Sooty palomino
Gambler - 9yr old Welsh section D - Black roan
Champ - 7yr old Welsh section D - Buckskin
Donut - 2yr old Welsh section D - Chestnut roan
I am a completely self-taught horse rider who has a big dream to compete at HOYS, why not follow my journey to see if we can make it,

Congratulations Lewis, you are turning into such a great confident little rider. And your positive encouragement towards him is just amazing, you must be so proud. The group canter was just wonderful to watch but reserve champion!!! Oh my gosh I was in tears of happiness. And what an incredible horse Willow is. 🎉🎉

Karen and Lewis congratulations, this made me cry! For him to over come his fears of cantering in a group and for him to go out and win the class wow, I take my hat off to him, I really hope he's proud of himself karen, he done amazing! hopefully he will grow from this and it will make him a better rider, but just practice practice practice and he will get more confidence the more he does it, it just takes time, but he's doing it and that all what matters! I understand it can be daunting when all the eyes are on you. That judge loved him karen you could see he wasn't looking at anything the same way he did willow. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉congratulations again on to bigger and better things, sending so much love ❤❤❤ willow deserves some apples and carrots after all that! 🥕🥕🍏🍏

Thank you so much 💙 I’m hoping that now he’s done it the once he will feel fine to keep doing it and will just get better each time he goes out He used to be scared of doing the in hand so I know with time he will feel just as confident in the ridden ring xx

@@KarenBadrick1 your more then welcome Karen! He done really well in the ring, he should be proud of what he achieved in that class, like you said it just takes time but he will get better and better the more he does it, look at him now winning his in hand classes with gambler to go to your horse live, he's obviously come a long way with his confidence in the ring! I went back and watched the last video of him in his first ever ridden class and he's come a long way in a short amout of time since that, also Karen I know you said his goal would be for him to ride gambler in the ring and you said he can be a bit lazy off the leg and hard to get him into canter, I know he's in the beginner's class but couldn't you get him a little pair of spurs just to give gambler that little bit of a wake up call with out using a whip? I don't know the rules about beginner's classes as it's been so long since I was in one, but just a little thought, doesn't have to be anything sharp or anything that going to hurt gambler, I use them on one of mine just to get him off my leg! I use the John whitaker soft touch naylon spurs, there about a tenner at most. I look forward to watching Lewis progress as time goes on, in a couple of years he will be thinking why was I so nervous, but atleast he has all theses videos so he can see how far he's come! I wish you both the best of look for the rest of the season 😊❤😊

Thank you so much, Yes it all takes time to figure out but once he does the important is amazing, He can’t be pushed, he needs time to think things through but always gets it in the end, I’m absolutely over the moon with him, his doing amazing I can’t wait for him to break up from school for summer as then he can ride most days to build on this even more xx

Thank you 🤩 Lewis wasn’t really interested in the horses as a young boy, the older two boys sort of took over and Lewis never got a look in, As soon as the older two gave up the riding (got girlfriends and cars) then Lewis stepped up and has now got in to the in hand / riding more, I’m just hoping Lewis keeps going with it all as he gets older xx

He’s so sweet how quiet he is and his replies to ya 🤣 classic. He did so well. I know you are both so proud it’s really team work with horses bravo! I feel the same way he does about cantering when distracted and other horses and things going on in the ring it just stresses me out a bit. I am also working on my confidence.

Thank you 🤩 It won’t be long now till he breaks up from school for the summer, so then he can ride every day and hopefully then the confidence will just keep growing, Willow is such a grumpy horse but he is so easy to ride as he is well schooled, hopefully we will get gambler more schooled over summer to make him easier for lewis x

Oh Karen he is doing amazing, I know you are so so proud of him and I am bursting with pride for him, sending so much love too you all ❤❤ ❤ Here is a tip for in hand, when I show my D’s and B’s I carry a box of machines or. Box of mints tick tacks in my pocket and I bring them out to make a noise and shake in my hand to get there ears forward when walking or standing up to the judge or anywhere really :) it’s an old old trick. Xxx ❤❤

Hi angel, Gosh i was almost doing sitting trot outside leg backxx Louis is amazing just Diagonals in trot and HOYS XX SO VERY PROUD OF YOU, AND LOUIS IS AMAZING. Saw a filly buckskin type sec D but if i get carried away you may have all sect Ds, esp fillies in the country, JOKING ANGEL, But love them all.
