Let a horse be a horse. No imprinting. Allow the mare to teach the young one. And then have the mare introduce the foal to the rest of the herd. A horse is the best teacher of the horse. Humans should stay out of it until the horse is about 4 or 5 years old. Then the starting process can begin. And you close stall horses. That shows a distinct lack of knowledge about a horse's needs. They are a herd animal. You should know better.
