Hey guys, Wilbur would be living in the RV part. It's Mr. Ed that would be sticking his head out the window since he was the horse, Wilbur was his owner.
You guys are hilarious!!! That’s a four Horse slant with the dividers removed. It’s also missing the rear tack area. Slant load horse trailer don’t have managers. The ties above the windows are for hay bags. The windows open on the outside and are either drop down or sliders. The bars are to keep the horses safe while traveling. The forward door is so you can get out once you load a horse or more if needed. Check out Lakota or Sundowner trailers. Also very nice units. Keep up the great vids.
@@60Airflyte the tack area is normally a hinged wall in two sections that can fold flat against the left wall. If you move this sectioned wall it locks in place on the floor and usually three saddle rack mounts which are also removable can be attached to a modular rail.
It has also been remodeled in the horse area. The floor now is either hard wood or laminate where there are typically rubber floor mats. The previous owner definitely did not use it for horses. The base of the horse area can be either painted wood or metal 2x8 planks that allow for drainage (depends on the manufacturer).
The horse area typically have dividers between the horses and the horses ride at a slant ; they must be missing - that’s a great price for that trailer - I’m in the horse industry
Four horse slant load with mangers and rear tack. The horse partitions, tack wall, saddle rack and mangers were removed. The three locked doors under the the horse's drop down windows where the under manger storage access. The driver side access door having an internal latch is something new that started with horse trailer with living quarters within the past 7 years or so. Normally it was just a bar latch on the outside. It opened up the possibilities to use the horse compartment like a mud room once you had the horses off loaded and were set up on site. Loved seeing the slide out with only the dinette, less likely to run into mechanical issues with gas and water lines over time. I've been around the Quarter Horse Industry my whole life and have spent plenty of it in trailers like this one. I don't see Ranger trailers very often at horse shows I go to, but some other brands to look into: Cimarron (my personal favorite), Bloomer, Hart, Blue Ribbon, Shadow & Elite #horsetrailer
I would not mind having a trailer like this for normal camping, seems like a better option than all those fancy toy haulers for adventure camping. This would be camping instead of glamping.
Love this!!! More horse trailers please!! By the way it’s too funny watching you guys figure everything out. It’s a perfect size for Rodeo season longer trips. Having a place to sleep saves a fortune on hotels. #Horsetrailer It’s a nice brand, average (like RV’s everyone has a favorite) They go up into 6 digits and as low as a few thousand (excellent condition used) I think it would be fun for you guys and us if you stopped by a dealership and had them do a run through of different types. Lot of us out here looking and no one has good reviews. It’s an open market and lots of money is spent on trailers. Most people have more then one and depending on what they are doing depends on the size they haul at any given time. I’m looking forward to seeing if you will be the first to break open this market.
Yeah, there's so much potential there; studio, office, workshop, another living space entirely, a garage, or even potentially a combination of things. That price is pretty good for the space too, especially with a slide.
My aunt and uncle travel from December to May throughout the south. They are a part of a community who travel with their mules and horses. There are campgrounds that have an area for your camper/trailer and paddocks for the animals. Pretty neat. They stopped in to visit us in Chattanooga on their way back home to the U.P. last year. Their mule tore up our dog lot but worth it for the visit.
A friend that showed horses had one of these. This one would be nice for a family of 3. The back could be a classroom or a playroom. Or, an on the road office for 2.
Seeing you review something different than your usual fare once in a while is nice. I enjoyed this review/tour and ones you did out at the balloon festival.
That was funny watching you bumble along trying to figure out a horse trailer. My RV spent the first 18 years of its life as a 3 horse slant horse trailer with a dressing room. Now the horse area has had a bathroom added and a room for solar controllers and batteries where the tack room once stood. As it sits now, I have room on the gross weight rating for another 4000 pounds of stuff, if I choose.
That’s a pretty cool looking horse trailer/ camper. Thank you for showing this horse trailer. It’s very nice like a truck camper almost. Or a fifth wheel.
Thanks Matt, actually this gives me an idea, maybe, from time to time, when you find one, or are approached by a viewer-owner, you could do tours of quirky and less traditional RVs.
ROFL - no stealth camping in that. We all know that we are sleeping and cooking in those things, especially because the horses are usually sleeping right outside on a high line or in a portable corral when we overnight. Really happy to see you guys cover this.

There are quite few of these. What I plan to do when house sales..remove horse panels(Alot horse trailer s have living quarters) if your full time on circuit u need place to live traveling the country. But u just take horse panels out & have room for kayak & atv hauler ,clothes rack & dog kennel /dog bedroom & the tack room is extra storage.. hook solar panels to top & extra water tank in bed of truck & u can live off grid for month or so. When I started looking this was best concept I found
Hey Matt, Jen, and Wil, this was a killer review! That is one pretty good horse hauler! You could get a couple 4 wheelers in there with room to spare! Not bad living space either! Something to think about! Keep on keepin' on!
This would make a great toy hauler. Plenty of room for ATV's, Motorcycles or bicycles. The front living area is nice. You are going to need a big dual rear wheel truck to tow it. I like it!
A friend of mine bought a Nexes motor home from them. While they were in the buying process I went looking at a Lance truck camper I really wanted to buy it but the sales man disappeared, they lost a sale , worked out though I bought a class C motor home and really love it! I've been in several horse trailers with living areas!
Now as you are travelling down the road you will see tons of living quarters horse trailers going up and down the road. Try looking at a Bloomer trailer. You can spend as much money on a trailer as you can dream. I've seen them with gas fireplaces and marble counter tops and also extra bedroom with bunk beds for the kiddos.
Used a 4 horse slant for many years, with horses and also as a Toyhauler. Had our short wall installed straight so we had a 17ft garage. Could put my race car in to go drag racing (got lots of jokes about horse power) also took 3 Polaris Sportsmans in that garage and hauled them to the mountains. Garage made a great place for large group to eat if it is raining or cold.
Those solid hickory cabinets and good quality construction would make a great toy hauler for anything probably almost 8k capacity in the rear for loading
That’s a 4-horse slant ‘show’ trailer with living quarters. There is a huge horse show industry in the USA, both professional and amateur. Horses are big business. It’s used to transport you horse(es), tack (saddles, etc.), and humans to a horse arena, and stay. Typically you offload the horse and place them in a rented horse stall at the arena facility. You and your help can stay in the trailer. Horse show are often weekend affairs (or longer). The toilet is set up so the person showing can change into their show gear in the toilet. Hay is often stored on the roof.
Goose neck trailers are the preferred style for farms and ranches. The truck bed has more capacity without a trailer than the traditional 5th wheel pin box.
Yep, a four horse trailer. A guy I worked with, has one as well. His horse trailer, with living quarters, cost more than my house did. His is a FeatherLight. They are amazing, but you must REALLY be into horses and being into trail camping. I was amazed, the first time I saw theirs. Yep, hay racks.... Rip
Sundowner makes horse and car haulers with RV living quarters as well. It's a whole 'nother world and so very cool. ATC was making custom car haulers with living quarters AND RVIA certs but they've decided to go with just the toy hauler models and drop the customs. Bummer because guess what??? With aluminum sides, they NEVER delam.
Had many but last one 3 hr LQ. Brand Exiss. Bought new NEVER an issue nor warranty ones! Currently Tiffin Wayfarer motorhome, Many warranty (Mercedes) and Tiffin !!! Feel high end horse trailers built better.
These trailers are typically better built than standard rv - just feel weight of door. It is missing stall dividers. I prefer a ramp to a step up horse trailer.
Can someone answer an honest question, doesn't putting all the horses in the back make it unstable? That's a 4 horse slant load. That would be at least 5k pounds in back. (although most show type horses are even heavier than that) I thought all the weight was supposed to be in front of trailers for safe pulling?!?!?
Part of balancing the load has to do with where the axles are. The 2 rear axles are centered under the 4 horse slant cargo area. Then you have the whole living / dressing area forward of that, so most of the weight would be forward of the center of the double rear axle just like tractor trailer is.
@@CastleGirl I use to wonder the same thing when I first started working in a warehouse doing fulfillment and loading, it was fun learning how to balance out load and why it was important.
4 horse power trailer lol.... that would make a good toy hauler, you could probably fit a jeep wrangler in there and probably be within weight limits. or quite a couple full size sand rails, 6 4 wheelers, shit ton of dirt bikes, be good for someone who rides toys competition, considering a horse can way over 2000 lbs, i am sure that trailer can carry 8000 to 10000 lbs since everything else is so lightweight, not loaded down with nicer furniture and human comforts as a standard toy hauler, more like a smaller camper for lighter vehicles furniture. with room for a workshop to work on them. or make it a mobile workshop period.
I am only laughing at you because you know nothing about horse trailers. This is called a 4 horse slant with living quarters, If I were going to build an RV tiny house this is what I would buy and build it out. All that room where the horses travel would make a great second bedroom and storage area.
