Its similar where i am. I work Tribal Public Safety we have armed an unarmed officers. Everyone starts unarmed it doesn't matter how much experience or training you have they will have you on the job for a good 2 months before they begin the armed officer selection process. Here in order to go armed we have to pass a written exam which is basic knowledge on firearms, when we can use them, our use of force policy, knowledge of Tribal ordinances and applicable state laws. Then we go through an oral board which is an oral interview. They ask scenarios based questions, question about job knowledge and ect and this is where quite a few people fail in our process most don't prepare ahead of time and go back on their answers or second guess themselves. Then after that we have to go through a department range qualification which includes day and night range. you have to score a minimum of 245/250. And at night you need to shoot better then a 34/36 (night shoot in more of an assessment then an actual qualification, but if you go patrol then you do need to pass.) Then after that you are an armed officer and are issued your duty ammunition. I myself use an LAPG duty belt i got it for like 50 bucks 2 years ago and it works great! Good video by the way keep it up and let us know how the armed process goes and maybe an updated belt?
Tribal Police/Public safety is great! Lots of opportunity for that here in Arizona! And will do, I have a lot of new videos coming up the pipeline related to gear. Thanks and stay safe.
