@@imogenx9145 the innocent child is taken away from her delusional and sadistic father and spared from living in the slovakian system, the system that made the "candy gang" and probably the system that made Svetlana a prostitute that lures people to their death. How is this a bad ending again?
@@imogenx9145 man if someone kidnap u and ur friends to torture y all and both ur friends die would u think this rationaly. A lot of people would go crazy and use any means necessary to inflict pain to the kidnapper
My wife is Slovakian. This came out shortly after we got together. She and her friends were upset at this movie. They say it’s set in Slovakia but it’s clearly set in the Czech Republic! 😂
Honestly this movie just makes me uncomfortable. Like I love Slashers but there's something about this movie which just creeps me out. It feels perverted somehow.
Gitanjalee Chatterjee Eli Roth’s other movie cabin fever is another one I can’t watch cuz this movie and that movie makes me uncomfortable. But I’ve seen all 8 saw movies without being uncomfortable so it’s just weird lol
@@thewatcher4720 Same, the saw movies don't make uncomfortable because they are so over the top and extra. This movie just plays into my fears of bad things happening in foreign places and maybe thats why I get uncomfortable watching it. Because unlike Jigsaw's crazy traps, human trafficking is an actual thing and this movie just adds to that fear.
@@dlr_rosa254 I've heard that Roth got the idea after hearing about a group of people run a group like this. People pay to shot someone In the head. I forget what I seen that in but it was connected to Roth
It probably wasn’t her worst choice at that point. Besides, she saved the other guy’s life - essentially repaying him for saving hers. So she died like a hero. And like an exploding bag of meat.
Did you know that the dude at 7:35 is actually Takashi Miike! He’s a very notorious Japanese horror director who’s made some absolute BANGERS, like Audition and the film adaptations of Ichi the Killer, Yakuza and Ace Attorney! He didn’t actually know any English, hence why his speaking role is limited, but Eli Roth was such a big fan of his work he really wanted him to feature in the movie. I believe Takashi Miike wasn’t credited, but it’s awesome to know he just pops up here haha
I remember when this film came out. It was pretty much sold on Tarantinos name and as the scariest film ever made. With that in mind is was pretty disappointing, although it is perfectly watchable if you're into these types of films. And sadly enough it's stil Eli Roths best film. How does he have a career.
I always forget “why is the toilet so full?” It hits just as hard every time 😂 And those types of locations are unsettling to me because they might collapse, I might get tetanus, and I WOULD get a staph infection
There once was a town in Slovokia, With sickos that wanted on top a ya, They service all with a laugh And the rich beat a path If murders your want then they got ya..
Omg I love your review of this. I havent seen it in year, now I feel the need to go rewatch them. Thank you for another great review. And i love your puppet, i have one that's similar, mine doesnt have teeth though. :) keep up the amazing work.
Slashers... At least the 80s ones had likeable characters. Torture porn movies make their characters so unlikable. But the gore itself does not a movie make.
I loved hostel ever since i first seen it i don't know what you guys are bitching about/don't know why you people are focused soley on the gore of the movie and not everything else great about it
Your content is well delivered and entertaining. You have a good sense of deadpan presentation and your humor with aided help of clips and sounds ads to the fun. Bravo!
I remember hearing how people watching this movie in theaters were throwing up. It almost made me throw up and I was only watching it at home! I couldn’t finish it. Oddly enough I found the sequel to be a bit better because we found out the other side of the story. It was still way too gross for me. I like my horror movies to make sense as to why the killings happen. Not just because killings. The whole thing is more scary than gross, and I was really grossed out by it.
Hey, can I just say that I particularly love your *JOKES* during these reviews! The first video of yours that I watched was for "A Serbian Film", and at first, I was worried you might be a bit too wholesome for me. But when I caught some of your dark humor, especially near the end, I just knew, "Okay, this dude is legit awesome!" 🙂 Keep up the good work!
I wonder/hope if the chainsaw to the leg is an homage to Texas Chain Saw Massacre's similar moment when Leatherface drops his safety-rigged saw on himself.
Just stumbled onto this guy’s reviews. They’re awesome! Straight and to the point, and even the gags have a point relative to the commentary. Only thing I disagree with is the knock about character development. You don’t even get to the gore until half way through the film. Maybe you like the guys, maybe you don’t. But you definitely know who they are by then.
"So poor they can't pay attention"?!! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! That's an old "yo momma" joke from way back but it's funny as hell the way you used it here.
A lot of horror movies don't punish sin and thinking that proves why people die in those situations. In reality, if your naked and relating, drunk, etc you are highly distracted and out of it. So you cannot spot nor defend against attacks as well as you would otherwise. Not realizing this shows people are too distracted even when sober and not having sex to get 'it'. Trauma is what causes people to shutoff their affective empathy. Not everyone that undergoes big trauma or consistent small traumas becomes like that. However the usual two responses are to be more opposite to the kind of person that abuses others or to become an abuser yourself. I think becoming an abuser is weak but if living in a traumatic chemical state, from moment to moment not seeing the big picture it is definitely easy to fall into.
One of the few movies I paid to see at the theater. When Paxton walks into their old room and the 2 new girls invite them to the spa, chilling. Went to see SAW as well.
