I went through so much crap when I started and several others I've help get started here in NC... now the latest thing is they are saying I can't do Lemonade and Shaved Ice Snow cones , I'm already permitted as a hot dog cart, or here in NC "Push Cart" I explained to my on site inspector that I can do Lemonade and Shaved Ice because that falls under the cottage food act. She said it was flagged on her side that I couldn't but never showed me in the code when I asked. I'm still doing Lemonade and Shaved Ice and don't plan on stopping!

We aren't a hot dog vendor. Just lemonade, but we are having trouble getting into any markets or events. A lot of new vendors have taken the spots of the usual locals at the markets. We don't really know what we can do at this point.

Hey Ben. I wondering if you can use a "Donation " method with a hotdog cart as long as no prices displayed legally? Im thinking of dragging my cart south in the winters and using it at the campgrounds and dont really want to get permits every other week from different counties. Just trying to avoid red tape. I figured how your the Hotdog King you've been asked this question before. Any advice appreciated, thanks

I wasn't sure we'd ever get started vending because our inspector kept taking time off from work , he'd tell me he'll email my permit so I could open on Memorial day weekend. He left on Thursday and wasn't coming back til the following Tuesday. We called all day Thursday and no response. I called another number in the same dept. and I talked to his supervisor, who emailed my permit. Anyway I wanted to ask you Ben, is it legal or okay to park in an easement to sell?

That really depends on your local codes/ordinances. I'd call the zoning office.
