Morning Glory Garden Sure! you want something cheaper, but also in the craft store, try checking out the chocolate molds. They run about $1.99, but you can use coupons on them. They usually clearance out about $.99 Here a link to give you an idea of what they look like from the front: www.michaels.com/baking/candy-making/809188268 If you scroll down, you can see the monkeys are $.99 For the time and the amount of glue you would have to use, this might be more cost effective. :) Also, you can find retired molds via amazon on ebay pretty cheap as well. Sometime you can find characters as well. Hope this helps! d:)

I was wondering, could I make a low temp glue mold for vinyl pieces or reg hot glue? I want to remold monster high dolls arms and hands, seems those little things go missing a lot at my house. Then the doll isn’t played with anymore...
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 5 лет назад
Hey there! Hot glue sticks to itself, so that's a no go. I was going to cover silicone molds, but no one seemed interested in the rest of the mold making series. You'll want to make silicone molds, and there are different plastic like materials you can pour in. Check out the smooth on channel here on RU-vid. They've done a great job covering their different products. Before you buy somewhere like Amazon, you should check out their website for local vendors. It's usually cheaper, and you can check the expiration date on the material. Plus, you can ask the supplier questions. I hope that helps! I love mold making and casting, so fingers crossed you enjoy it too! ❤

What can I do about bubbles in the glue when making something from a commercial mold? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 4 года назад
It depends on what the mold is made out of. If you're pouring hot glue into a silicone mold, for example, then I'd take a heat gun to the glue to take care of the bubbles. Hope that helps.

@dianaramsey8072 4 года назад

I have a question if I was gone mold a lashes case how do I do the top part?
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 2 года назад
You'd need to do a 2 part mold, which can be pretty tricky and kind of expensive. If you only need one or 2, you'd probably be better off having someone make them up for you on a resin 3d printer. You could also look at vacuum forming if you need to do more than a few, but less than 500. If you really want to learn about 2 part molds, check out brick in the yard and silpak's youtube channels. Try to find a local hobby shop that turns over their inventory pretty frequently. Most of what you'll find on Amazon is currently old stock. For the molding and casting supplies, and they're a ton to ship from the manufacturer. You'll also need a degassing chamber. Hope this was helpful. Good luck!

for the simpler charms, is it possible to use these to make hot glue charms, or would I use clay to make the mould?
@lpspineapple6048
@lpspineapple6048 8 лет назад
and if I use CLAY in the mould do I use airdry or polymer clay? Also would I let it dry in the mould, or remove right away? I'm wanting to use this technique for a school project. Thanks
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 8 лет назад
+LPSpineapple604 If you used hot glue, the glue you pour in would melt the mold, and it wouldn't work, so clay is your best bet. You can use air dry, but make sure to de-moldd it before it totally sets to cut down on cracking. Polymer you back is the easiest for getting detail and not having as much cracking. After you put it in the mold, stick it in the freezer until it hardens and then pop it out onto the foil you plan to back it with. Best of luck on your project!

I have a question for you...I have very detailed metal plates, ex: dragons, leaves, asian symbols, etc. and I would like to make an impression of them using hot glue, oh...I forgot to mention that they are curved like a bowl. How would you recommend I do this or is it even possible? Thank you for your time!!!! Love your tutorials!!! Willow from Canada
@musicsexlove
@musicsexlove 7 лет назад
I think if it's a shaped like a bowl, this method wouldn't really help. it would be completely time consuming. I think the hot glue method are for smaller models. You should get the mold making kits from Michael's, JoAnn's, etc for larger pieces.

What about buttons with holes in them? Any suggestion --put powder the button holes?
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 6 лет назад
Yeah, defiantly put the powder in there. If they're too small, they won't come out. You might have to go with mold putty if that's the case. I have another video up about that. It's more expensive (obviously), but you can usually find it at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Joanns, and you can use a digital coupon. Hope that helps!

How do you remove bubbles from the glue. I always get bubbles in my mould
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool Год назад
If it's still hot, I can usually pop them with a sewing pin, before pushing the item down. I always go in at an angle, so if I pull glue back when I pull it out, it has less of an impact on the final mold. I know other people who use the tip of the glue gun, but that's never worked for me. If you still have problems, I have videos for a couple more cheapest options. Hope that helps!

Can i make a mold by using a cloth lace in order to make an edible lace mat
@MakerHighSchool
@MakerHighSchool 4 года назад
You can, but I wouldn't use hot glue (it's not food safe). I have another video where I talk about Amazing mold putty. (Easy Silicone Molds - 2 ways) and that's what I would recommend. I would use a rolling pin to make sure you get all the details down, and it's reusable. You can' find it at most craft stores, and I got a notification from Michaels this morning that there's a 50% off coupon in the app right now. Hope this helps!
