Hot Glue Molds 

I've done hot glue molds over things like doll faces. Then use clay to make the item. But I didn't actually think of using resin in the hot glue mold. I'm a little surprised that the metal items need a release agent of some kind. But this is a great way to do it Mark, using the silicone coaster molds. Thanks Mark

My friend used an old electric fondue pot. Worked great!

What I like about that see-through hurt when you got it done is you can put a picture of anybody behind it like on Valentine's Day you could put your mom's picture in it your partner's picture and it that is really cool how clear it came out that's beautiful what a cool idea I can't wait to find me one of them little pots that's kind of need

I have a huge cache of metal adornments given to me by my sister when she worked for Tan Jays in Winnipeg, this would be perfect for this project, so thank you Mark for this idea xox

I appreciate your efforts. I'm looking at this video from a safety point of view. There are so many other ways to go about this. RTV Rubber 1:1 is the absolute best way to go when it comes to making molds for plaster wax and resin. The use of hot glue can be extremely dangerous being that it gets hot enough to completely remove your skin down to a 4th degree burn! I'm witness to this as it has actually happened to me! There is also a wonderful mold release spray that can be used in place of hot melted candle wax. Also very dangerous. As I said earlier, I appreciate all of your efforts in creating this video, but I feel it could be re created using RTV Rubber instead of hot glue. Thanks...

Hi Mark, an update. I decided to use the hot glue skillet from surebonder to melt the hot glue for my picture molds (I don't want to put the heavy weight of air dry clay on a photo frame I will hang on the wall, and, at the same time, I don't want to use resin). What I found out is: 1. Use extra fine surebinder hot glue (I think I followed your recommendation of it from a few years back) to put hot glue into the fine details of the molds. 2. Use a SILICON spoon to spoon out hot glue out from that skillet to level off the mold. I spread it like a frosting on top of the mold. (metal spoons which is what you used are a menace because hot glue sticks to it firmly. I kind of "ruined" 2 of my spoons. But, thanks to www.youtube.com/@Themakersworkbench tip, I poured rubbing alcohol on my spoons. Let is settle in and was able to pry the hot glue off using a wooden skewer. Thank God). 3. Do the whole project on top of a silicon surface. Otherwise, hot glue will destroy the surface (I kind of messed up a bit of my kitchen table in the process). Actually, for less detailed molds, just spreading hot glue from the skillet does a pretty good job, if you are not a perfectionist. Just break any air bubbles before they dry up. I am using these as borders on my photo frames, so they don't need to be perfect. Thank you.

I wonder if you spray the mold again with non-stick would you be able to refill it with hot glue instead of resin?

Hi Mark, I saw this product and my first thought was "I can make fancy molds using IOD design molds and Design with Prima molds." Can I? I am not crazy about using resin for making these molds and the air dry clay sometimes is too heavy, like on a picture frame etc. Please let me know if you tried using these this way and, if you did, how did it work out? Thank you.
