Dupe fact #2 Ari is the most dangerous, yet innocent dupe. In the automation update animation he appears to press the switch which almost have kille Bahni, while showing no mercy, later she just adopts a hatch and walks away. In the rocket industry animations, she just gave Bahni flashbacks of what happened to her by just putting a sticker at the rocket, ON THE TECHNICAL PART OF THE ENGINE (that's dangerous). Lastly, in the anything for a laugh animation, she put her life at risk multiple times, ending up DYING, yet, no punishment.

in long run there is no need. Sheer mass of compressed oxygen will give your system inertia.

I usually just leave it open with a few deodorizer around, and have a central cooling solution take care of the temperature
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 2 года назад
That is of course also a solution :). A Energy intensive one! But a viable. I do the same for the infectious vents that are only 70°C. A few wheezeworts take care of most of the heat and all the germs. For this 500°C one i personally want to extract a little bit of heat first if possible.

There is no need for the petroleum layer of liquid in this build (unless you like the golden liquid's appearance.) The layer of crude oil in the mesh tiles is enough for the deodorizer to function. There is no liquid disturbance that occurs in the mesh tile layer or you would get petroleum dropping down or one of the two liquids being deleted when the oxygen appears. I use this same mechanic in a polluted water evaporator to get oxygen.
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 2 года назад
The Petroleum layer is there so i can safe the material for another tempshiftplate that would have been made from more valuable material. The petroleum is just cheaper in my opinion (if you have crude oil anyways)

I like that you use the fact that the deodorizers have a longer range than is normally thought to scrape below the liquids. Have you grabbed the “show building ranges” mod? I think you did a video on it right? Might do well to show why they’re placed there at a quick glance.

Intersting way to tackle it! I saw in one of Brothgar's old series use a germy vent close to it to cool it down a tad bit (while also getting more o2 and killing germs) then used a simple aquatuner setup cooling glass that makes contact with the o2. This way it was around 60°C or somewhere like that
@Luma_plays

Also nice. I think I saw him tackle the germy vent with cold. So oh missed the earlier tries.:/ Now with the DLC-radiation germy polluted oxygen vents are pretty easy to handle if you have access to wheezeworts.

I have a question. Why have you used the petroleum layer? As far as I know, deodorizers can't overpressurize(maybe not until at least 1000kg, though I'm not sure). Wouldn't the crude oil alone be sufficient? My build used water and was connected to a nearby cold biome to chill the O2. Got lucky there :)

The petroleum saves me the material for another tempshiftplate in the background. it thermally connects the different rooms. Also check the other messages here in the comments. I think I tried explaining it there too :)

I think the real question here is whether taming a polluted oxygen vents is actually helpful for a gameplay or not... I consider polluted oxygen vent as the worst type of vents in this game along with carbon dioxide vents, which basically gives you nothing more then a uncontrolled production of garbage. You can easily produce polluted oxygen as much as you can by evaporating the polluted water in bottles or using sublimation station with much controllable way. Same with CO2 by using a generators. There is no points of existence of those geyser and no points of taming them by sacrificing a lots of resourse and space to get an uncontrolled production of useless trash... Even other so called 'low-tier' geysers like chlorine vents and volcanos have some irreplaceable uses like producing a bleach stone or heating up something, but polluted oxygen vents? I just hate it soo much that really wish there is some way to actually replace the geyser or get rid of them from the map permanently :)
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 2 года назад
Haha i understand your rant. The geysers alone are mostly useless for a normal colony. I think it is less about if a single geyser is helpful and more if you can supply your base permanently with just geysers. If you throw a few of those bad oxygen sources together you have a stable source of O2. The CO2 geysers can be used for food for the planet via slickster. Sometimes -depending how large your colony is- you already used up all non exploit sources of water. so every new source means 1 duplicant that can be supplied more. Of course that only applies to colonies that try to sqeeze out as much dupes as possible.

@Luma_plays 9 месяцев назад
If you tame hot polluted O2 vents you already have squeezed out most other sources and just want enough for 1 or 2 more dupes. that will be end game and you probably have no problem cooling or creating energy. so in short. probably not for most people. but if you want more dupes or just like to capture any geyser go for it :)

Both are very good materials. Aluminum has almost double the thermal conductivity (transporting heat more quickly) but also double the specific heat capacity (storing more heat). For this build both is fine. Probably even worse material. But use the best materials in therms of heat conductivity for the Steam turbinbe and the radiant liquid pipes to help with the self - cooling of the turbine.

@Asriel_Cypher

Does it specifically need Petroleum?
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays Год назад
Well i think i used petroleum as a heat buffer because it has a very high evaporation point of 538.85 °C meaning the 500°C hot polluted oxygen is not able to turn it into gas. The petroleum is there in the dirst place to keep the temperature steady. If the system works well your lower area shouldn't get too hot though since everything is thermally connected. But to be safe i used these materials. And normally when you have steel and plastic you are probably ver close to or past the petroleum production. Hope that helped. :)
@CommentPositionInformer
@CommentPositionInformer 2 года назад
Nice. The Deodorizers teleport the Oxygen due to their range? Or the oxygen straight up flows through the double layer liquid? Also, is there a risk of the 500c Oxygen turning the crude oil into petroleum?
@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays 2 года назад
Yes they use the range to teleport the oxygen upwards. That is why the artmo sensor is important we don't want to create a vacuum in the lower part otherwise we might get clean oxygen there. there shouldn't be a problem since therooms are thermally connected. (even if it would turn into petroleum that would be fine, but it would show that some heat transfer is missing); as long as the steam turbine is running and everything is one heat system the temperature should even out at 125°C in the long run.

To tame a hot polluted oxygen vent :D You got different vent all over your asteroid. They all produce Materials or gases indefinitely. This one produces Polluted oxygen at 500°C. If you want to use that Oxygen it is needed to cool it down first. Otherwise your pump will overheat if not build from space materials. So cooling the Oxygen is needed. That is what this setup does. It cools down the oxygen to around 130°C a steel pump can survive 275°C. The Oxygen is still too hot for your normal base but totally fine for atmosuit setups.

@Luma_plays
@Luma_plays Год назад
If your turbine overheats then the system is broken. With the materials and amounts of water shown here that should not happen. The output water will cool the turbine to aroumd 95 to 97 °C. If you use gold instead of aluminum then you need a better heat transfer to prevent overheating. In general if your steam under the steam turbine always stays under 135°C you can cool the steam turbine with it's output water. if you go above that you need either a better thermal conductivity or more buffer water or more turbines
