Jim Varney was one of those so underrated actors! Remember seeing him first in the Brahms burger commercials in Dallas, in 1983! Loved him in this, Beverly Hill Billies movie, and love his version here of Hot Rod Lincoln....I miss ya Jim!
Hot Rod Lincoln is one of those songs that seems to have multi-generational as well as multi-format appeal. Makes me miss the old AM radio days where they completely mixed the format so you would hear everything from Hank to Doris (Day) with Bill (Haley) in between.
The first time I ever heard of Jim Varney was because of 'Toy Story'. I saw him in 'Ernest Goes To School', later on & when I saw his name in the cast, I was like "That's the guy who does the voice of Slinky from 'Toy Story'.". It's too bad that he died at the age of 50½ & the way he died, too. R.I.P., Jim Varney, Jr.!...
whether it's commander Cody, Ray Benson, or Jim Varney singing, this song is still a fine example of country rap. I wonder what it would sound like if Colt Ford covered it.....
I Love the Christmas movie “Ernest Saves Christmas”! Hilarious and sweet. Been a fan for a long time, he did the voice for the “slinky dog” in Toy Story and Toy Story 2! Even before all those, he did great stuff! Sad to die before he got old…
@PlainNsimpleGal He was great. If you poke around youTube you can see him on some old TV shows. He was really good. I still remember his own show. Some of his skits were genius.
The late great Jim Varney had and awesome voice, he was hilarious in Petticoat Junction, as good ole Ernest, (mainly in them First Federal commercials), and as Jed Clampett!
@motoquerosdelcamino Demolition Derby. The purpose is to survive the race without being disabled by another automobile. Es peligrosa pero no mas. Es muy (como se dice, "Funny.")
