Good to know something like that exists. If like us, you're mainly a campsite camper, then I do think it is not needed, but for those that want something like this, it is a neat bit of kit. Cheers for showing 👍

There’s quite a few bits to carry with it to get it working, but we always carry that spare gas bottle with us anyway. I can see times where we’d have used this in the past, plus in the future too, and those times are when we’re doing a quick one night stopover somewhere and there are no facilities. In those scenarios we wouldn’t be generally taking loads of luggage or needing lots of boot space for other things, so could take this with us if needed. We don’t always stay on campsites so might work for us.

Thanks, great video, as ever. We could have specified a hot water system in our conversion. But to save space, weight and money we decided not to. We're happy with campsite facilities, or, if we are wild camping, or somewhere without facilities, then we will boil a kettle and manage. Thanks for your efforts, though, I always enjoy your work. Cheers.

Hi Will & Sarah, I have the Joolca system and love it. It does take up space but it enables me to stay on sites without facilities which is great. Their double en-suite looks brilliant too! I’m going to look into the possibility of connecting to the Cali shower fitting so I have the option of drawing water from the on board tank. I’m sure it must be possible. I’ll look forward to your review though.😁

Yes we're going to try and see what we can do with this Kampa version connected directly to the shower outlet too.

nice and helpful video as always. Just want to remind you that leave the boiler in the open area rather than in the van when you switch it on for safety.

Thanks, yes of course and always very aware of the fact it uses gas too, so must be ventilated.

I have this gaz boiler since summer 21 . Pretty efficient and longer time hot shower compared to small 12v boiler alternative on market . On my side i by-pass Cali shower and use 20 liters Jerrican ( pay attention of Cap , we need at least Din 96 hole in order to fit with Kampa pump ) linked to KAMPA shower and supplied from 901 , small version of 907 CAMPING GAZ . To get warmer water , you can fill in/out in loop from Jerrican before use it . To be Honnest , used only 3 times in wild pitch because could be boring to set installation properly . Cannot be compared to Bath facilities in Campings ! plastic water in/out connectors for pump and shower are also pretty fragile

Thanks for this. Very useful. Do you think the unit would work with gravity fed water (roof tank) not a pump? Is there another reason it needs electric connection as well as the pump? Cheers :)

Looked at this this morning can’t believe you did a review. Takes up too much room for my liking. Wouldn’t be able to fit it in. Please do a review of the ladder if u can, thinking of one but haven’t decided totally with my disabilities I’m finding climbing up difficult. Want to know if it can go with the seats in the normal position. Thanks for your time and effort. Xc

Isn’t tech fun! I had considered this along with the Joolca system. With a 50m hose and 12V pump you could safely draw water from a crocodile infested river till the gas runs out. We decided to stick with the kettle and a Colapz rechargeable shower unit which fits in a small bag. Also handy for watering the garden and washing the dog.
@CampervanTime

I know! We love testing stuff like this! We're going to see if Joolca can lend us one of their units to have a go :)

Hi Will. Is the flow rate on the Cali shower sufficient that you could run it direct from the shower point. At a flow rate of 2.5 Larson per min it feels like a possible option and would cut out the need for a separate pump etc. with the number of Cali’s around it feels like they could provide an option to have an adaptor to drive the water in and then use the Cali shower head as the output? Would also be good to compare the usability of the Joolca offering as well. I have not used one but it appears slightly less bulky.
@CampervanTime
@CampervanTime 2 года назад
Yes some good ideas there and you've got me thinking about giving that a try now. We'll see if we can get hold of a Joolca one to give it a go too :)

Hi. I have just grabbed one of these units. It seems to work great heating the water and flow rate. Did yours make a cracking noise when in use after 10 minutes or so? You can hear the gas burner, but then other sounds that worry me slightly. Thanks for any info.
@CampervanTime
@CampervanTime 9 месяцев назад
Not sure we used it for more than 10 minutes at a time but I don't remember any funny noises or anything that worried us. I suspect it is just the heat of the unit making it creak a bit, that's all. If you're worried do get it checked out from where you bought it though.

Could you pop the lid off the Cali's water tank and drop the pump directly in.... Cutting out all the bucket faff?
@CampervanTime
@CampervanTime 2 года назад
Yes you could and I did consider this, but the tank screw lid inside the Cali is so tight you need a special tool (or to make a special tool) to remove it and I don’t have one. But yes, if you were using this on a regular basis or didn’t have the shower option on the Cali then it would work perfectly.
@broadpete
@broadpete 2 года назад
I guess then you could plumb it in semi permanently (gas and water sharing existing bottle and tank) and have a hot shower ready to go?

Thanks for the review, great stuff as always. Agree that the unit is too big. Did you see the 'Companion AquaHeat'? Unfortunately only seems to be available in Australia but looks like a neater unit and less faff to use. I'll stick with my cheap 12v shower and a collapsable bucket for water heated on the stove I think.

No design fault, just not designed to be hot water. Other vans do have it (Ford Nugget Plus for example). California (and MB Marco Polo) have never had hot water.

Obviously not very well recieved by the public. Shiresfurnitures is selling them for £50.48 and another seller about the same price on the Internet. Good if you want one but most people use campsites, so wouldn't ordinarily need one.
@CampervanTime
@CampervanTime Год назад
I think it really depends on what your use of the van is too. We know of people who are wanting one of these because they go to festivals in their van and don’t fancy sharing the shower facilities that are provided for them on the pop up campsite etc
