Do you REALLY want to know what Hot Toys is up to? If you haven't already, check me out with these these figures and more on ALL my socials: / keco.collects / keco.collects www.threads.ne... www.x.com/@kec...
I kinda disagree and kinda agree haha. Here's basically what I always wanna know: Will inaccuracies be fixed or not? Will the sculpt be improved if it's bad? Will it use pleather? How many figures from this line will there be? All these questions affect whether or not I'll buy a figure lol, and I can't be the only one, so if a company is willing to talk about these things I trust them, way, way more than companies that don't for sure. I really think companies can implement public feedback as part of their process without messing up their production time, so they say "Here's the prototype, you little chumps, you've got a week to have at it and let us know what needs fixing" then after that production begins and that's that lol, as much as I don't like being an unpaid QA tester for a company that's supposed to get it right the first time, it's seemingly always necessary to some extent lol. I really like to know that my concerns are heard, Hot Toys always give the impression of "we don't care, we've got sixty other figures coming out this year so you take what you're given" and they're kinda correct, unless we buy second hand they still get paid lol. Who knows!
Hot Toys knows what's up. It's why they're at where they're at right now, and will continue to do so. Competition is great and will force them to make adjustments like all industries. The mob is an unruly, unsettling, and toxic one so they should keep their engagement minimal. But that doesn't mean they're not listening.
One thing I’ve noticed coming into the hobby is how odd it is how inconsistent a lot of their figures are in terms of quality and effort. Mind you, I’d say they’re all premium but it’s just weird how figures you’d expect to be as close to perfect as can be end up being sub par or seem half assed. On the flip side, figures you’d never expect to be big sellers end up being surprisingly well done. Two examples could be the Tobey Spider-man. Should have been 10/10 perfect given the perceived importance of it. But from what I can tell, people have issues with it. Then you have figures like Cad Bane that, although the source material was objectively bad (and what’s funny; people hated how he looked in live action in the show), turn out to be exceptionally done. Three swap out face sculpts, great tailoring, a deluxe option with Clone Wars callbacks. Things they could have easily just skipped out on. I know those are just two examples out of hundreds, but it’s just something that I’ve found odd.
I wanna know why they don't make certain figures. Like why no Wong? Why no Kamala Kahn? Why no Hawkeye...from his own show...when they made the secondary character? Why does the "graveyard" exist? Why show something at all (Batman Armory...N1 Straighter...HAWKEYE...) if they're not actually making it?
I DID really want to know...🤔 And I am RICHER for it...💰 Well, actually POORER because I'm actually still spending money on this 💩...💸 Thanks for the video Keco!🙏🏽 (BTW - the new display looks AWESOME!😍)
I kind of admire Hot Toys for maintaining their lack of interaction with collectors because unfortunately there will aways be those that will find something to knitpick. In their mind, their opinion is the most important but that isn't always everyone's opinion. It does get tiresome to constantly hear these knitpicky complaints when often it does come down to production limitations, etc. Many times I'm just happy to have a character produced as opposed to multiple versions of the same character. I love Iron Man but I don't feel the need to have everyone of them but in the Asian Market it is a big money maker so I completely understand why they keep producing them. Howard Chan is a huge Keanu Reeves fan so he produces every character that the actor plays. That is his option since it is his company, many collectors don't seem to understand that their favorite characters aren't of any interest to Howard. Sometime you just have to accept what you get and that whining about it probably won't help.
If they start replying as well it opens up a can of worms for expectations. The reality is the community is fickle and they can and will find some issue from a scene that isn't accurate and is 2mm off in scale. You hit the nail on the head with mass production vs custom. There's a reason the cost can stay low 300s on avg...mass production will always have flaws in quality but better in price. If you require perfection be sure to pony up more dough. Nice jersey! I'm a leafs fan but I got love for the preds! F@#k Boston!
Yeah, all you said about the toy talk is great... BUT, LETS GO PREDS. I'm still SALTY AF how they screwed us in the finals THREE times to help Pitt win.
That's Bettman for ya. He had to make sure Sid got his cups to save that franchise from bankruptcy, had to get vegas their cup last year...he refuses to give up on the joke that is the coyotes...#bettmanout
As a Masterpiece Transformers collector, I can attest to the need for discretion when releasing info on upcoming products. It is not uncommon to see three different 3rd party companies drop what is essentially the same character all within a couple months of one another. FanToys is notorious for trolling other brands by dropping their version of a character right after a competitor announces theirs.
If Hot Toys can give us updates on delays, limited edition numbers on their exclusive figures that has a limited run like the President Loki set, production time and updates on a major figure release and new line that they're launching like their artisan line would be nice. Or a more direct feedback from the man himself; Howard Chan or do what InArt is doing.. hire a brand ambassador or rep to give answers to customers if we had any concerns.
Smart analysis, as always! I think part of the fan frustration that may play into this is China has a very different culture when it comes to transparency and media relations than the United States. No 1st Amendment or truly independent media and free speech there. Thus much less incentive for Hot Toys to have same level of fan engagement as say Hasbro. I always enjoy your unique coverage!
Your dogs arent paying 300 to 900 for a figure or vehicle, so on that youre way off. Its not whining if a company advised one thing, delivers another and we, as paying customers have a vocal opinion. That doesnt make us crying babies Keco. The arrogance on some of you influencers lately is getting out of hand.
Appreciate you responding - perhaps I didn't articulate it well enough with the dog example. I agree that if false advertising and misleading are taking place, then yes, they need to make it right. However the increase in frequency over what is being criticized can't continually require a response. What is a "big deal" is always going to be subjective to each collector, so as I said, people that get paid a lot more than me are the ones weighing those decisions. And I agree, far too many "influencers" are arrogant - civil discussion and opinions should always be had and heard.
@@KeCoCollectswell I appreciate that response. Perhaps I misjudged you a bit and I apologize. I just feel like we've been ennondated lately with a lot of being talked at rather than talked with. Glad you're not that guy.
Hey, Keco. Not sure if this question is relevant to the video or self explanatory, but is it bad to leave Hot Toys figures in poses for long periods of time? I have a few that I want to pose up but I’m worried the suits will get damaged (For context, they’re Spider-Man).
I’d love to speak to Howard or any person who knows their stuff with likeness rights as I’d would love a new Han from OT but there seems to be issues we aren’t privy to
Both are annoying . For the lines I care for InArt - repeats same old news over and over again ,delays and doesn’t give ship dates . Meanwhile Asmus ,myself and others have asked for revamp of Thranduil figure ,they have been promising it for over 4 years ,last year teased with a Crown prototype that aside of the clothes and hair had so many issues ,to which i commented on . After that ,nothing ,no info no release dates ,no preorders .nothing . When i ask them when it will be released , or up for preorder ,the response is “ when is ready “.
The “community “ doesn’t know what it wants, collectively. Everyone in the community wants and expects different things, there’s rarely ever a consensus
