I like your mindset and counsil, i'm one who collects for passion and love, it doesn't matter if it is from the movies, tv shows or video games, from my childhood or my present time (i was born in the 80's) the important thing for me is if that the content leave me a footprint in my heart, if i enjoyed it, if that made me happy, i will have a good memory every time i see it again, like when you see a picture or video. That's why when i look at my collection i see moments of my life and i feel the same feelings when i watched or played it the first time, you could call it nostalgia, those expensive chunks of plastic get the real meaning, those figures suddenly become in some sort of waypoints in my path that remind me where i am comming from and where i'm going, giving even more meaning to my memories by remembering my past, helping me going towards my future day by day. Like you've said, "collecting is who we are", and that is a noble reason to collect in my opinion. Remember : the difference between and adult and a child is only the value of his toys. Hands down, my favorite piece in my collection is Hot Toys Hulkbuster. I look at it everyday and my heart sings. I love it so much. I collect for the feels. If it speaks to my soul it’s coming home with me.
Hi Keko! I’ve been collecting 1/6 action figures about one and a half year. This is a Hobby from the ❤! A Hobby to appreciate with love and passion. Each figure I have now was selected according emotional feelings and technical quality. More perfection in the figure, more I feel involved by the feelings that brings. For each figure I build my self a diorama after some research and hard work! Very happy with this Hobby! Your channel is fantastic!
Thanks for the sincere and thoughtful insight. For me collecting has never been about value/investment or clout chasing. Being born in the late 60's I grew up with 12" GI Joe figures, which I still love and collect as well as many other toys I had as a kid; all of which were lost in a house fire when I was young. Childhood trauma psychoanalysis aside, I collect a lot more than just those nostalgic missing pieces from my childhood. The "cool factor" of modern highly detailed pop culture themed 1:6 figures is undeniable, albeit painful on the wallet. Even so, there must still be a connection to the item. For me many of these connections come in the form of favorite movies or TV shows either from my youth or in recent years of shared viewing experiences with my now adult children. Do I really need a Walter and Jesse Breaking Bad figure set? No not really, but I bought two sets anyway. My daughter and I watched the entire series together when she was a teenager and it brings me joy now to have a reminder of that experience sitting on a shelf. The second set is for her shelf when she gets her own house, assuming she'll even want to display it. I suppose there's nothing revolutionary about what I'm saying and it doesn't matter to me if value goes down or if anyone besides me ever sees my collection. Life is short and personal happiness is elusive. Collect what brings you joy and get rid of anything that doesn't. It's a simple formula really.
I began collecting sixth scale back in 08'. Before then, I was collecting 3.75' figures. I switched to sixth scale, because of the realistic appearance of the figures. And having realistic figures on display is a lot more appealing then regular toys!
Keep up doing more content for new collectors👍. Im into hot toys for the last 4 years now ,for the favorites, it will be the iron man mark 1 2.0 and samurai predator.
I have 3 pieces that I think are my favorites, my Hot Toys A New Hope Luke and Sandtrooper. Being that A New Hope was the movie that I first watched back when I was a kid and what started me on the path to Star Wars obsession. So looking at them always brings me back to when it all began, and my Hot Toys Arkham City Joker. Which was the first Hot Toys piece my wife got for me when we first started dating, and of my favorite comic villain in my favorite representation of said villain. Great video as always! Very insightful. I recently just cut back a big chunk of my collection to just those that truly bring me the most joy, as I was just getting figures to get them and to fill out the collection. Often finding myself trying to give reason to my most recent purchase other than it just truly being an important character to me or bringing me joy. It became more of the joy of getting a figure, not what the figure represents. Your videos of tips and advice definitely do help identify these issues within collecting. Infinity war iron man brings me the most joy when I look at it. My fiance and my mom both bought it for me. It was my first hot toy. After that one is wonder woman gold armor, such stunning figure!
