Hot Toys all the way for me. I think the sculpt on the Sideshow version is fantastic however the overly saturated red cheeks, the way The Child is always looking up, the way the arms just hang unnaturally are a huge NO NO for me. Hot Toys wins for me😎
@@jims1046 the Sideshow looks cool dont get me wrong! Its wonderful but the Hot Toys Version is so funny with the open Mouth 😂 you can make so much different poses...
@@Valii_Chihuahua Yes that is the cool thing that the hot toys can do.I don't get you wrong I understand, you sold the sideshow one to get the hot toys one because you want to change it poses its cool. There aren't very different those two...You liked the sideshow one?I Think that If somebody wants a statue only for display, the best is the sideshow one. What do tou think?
Hot toys seems like a much younger version of grogu whilst Sideshow nicely captures grogu's actual form from the show. The Sideshow version does have very pink cheeks but it is actually very accurate to certain scenes throughout the show where his cheeks glow in certain lighting. I prefer the Sideshow version mainly due to the amount of detail they have put into it. The Hot toys version just seems a little off with his face just preferably not to my liking. Both are amazing choices.
Agree for me sideshows face is more like the movie. I perdonally dont like hot toys grogu opening the mouth like that. It looks creepy and dosent look cute.
It is hottoys dressed look more accurate to me I like face and robe look on hottoys made my decision get hottoys version glad I did can’t wait to get him
This is how the comments for this comparison go - 99% of people who already own the SS version will comment on why the SS version is better (to justify their purchase and not feel the need to buy both). Nearly everyone else will say HT version is better, they are excited about their preorder. A very small handful of SS version owners will confess they really like the HT version, and are buying it too.
The hot toys looks good but having both to choose from I found the sideshow more realistic and accurate, the hot toys does have the articulation. Though which scores it points.
I bought the sideshow one, it is so beautiful and artistically made. The details on the sideshow one is just beautiful and awesome. I never regret spending big bucks for it.
Two excellent choices (how often does that happen?) Ultimately, I prefer the Sideshow version but I can see why many prefer the HT. IMO there isn't a wrong choice here. I have given my SS Grogu articulation following the Adam Savage mod and it worked great.
Sculpt and costume wise- I prefer the look of the Sideshow one. Mine hasn't been delivered yet, but there are a lot of mod tutorials to articulate the Sideshow one which I plan on doing! But man, I had no idea the Hot Toys version's mouth was articulated! And the rubbery material is definitely. a great touch I wish the Sideshow one went with. Making a good case to get both!!!
Definitely like the quality of the hot toys version but wish the ear seam wasn’t their. The sideshow is great to but like how with the hot toys version it has a articulated mouth.
I still think the ears should be a solid peace on hot toys. It just seems even more concerning to carry around than sideshow. What if you walking around and bump in someone and an ear falls off and don't notice, such examples I guess Disneyland.
Sideshow one for me. Hot Toys is also very nice, but ear seams and color difference of the ears just ruin the otherwise great figure. I do like the articulation of the Hot Toys version, but I would prefer to have the more accurate looking piece. I will likely mod the Sideshow arms when I receive it for articulation.
great video. I was wondering what were the differences (and in $) to justify the HT or Sideshow version. In my opinion, HT wins bc of the articulated mouth and extras.
Unpopular opinion but am I the only person that seems to see that the sideshow version might look cuter and more realistic but is not as accurate to the tvshow as the hot toys is. It's like people are mistakaing more realistic as more accurate. In my own opinion that is.
@@Joker-fx6mh im not saying its bad or worse. I for one love the look of sideshow's statue. Im just saying they took creative freedom when making the statue to make it even more realistic and if not cuter than what we see on the tv show. Such as puffier cheeks and emphasized wrinkles etc. I know that the developers of the child is partnered with sideshow. That doesnt mean they cant take liberties on the statue.
I sold my Sideshow. The cheeks and the mismatched legs really bugged me. It's nothing like my boy's Hot Toy's Spiderman, with fully articulated joints and clean lines and coloring throughout. I'm sad to see Hot Toy's taken short cuts on the ears and legs as well. I'm going to wait for a better designed version.
Yea I definitely was, having both in hand the HT grows on me by the second. I'm one of those who dislike the SS piece looking up always, if I put him in the bottom shelf..... we all know that's the place for the forgotten figures.
I much prefer the HT! The SS one looks like Yoda as a baby while HT looks more like Grogu. The articulated mouth is just too cute and all those options.
Lol the sideshow head is made from a newer mold of the one they used to make the puppet, the sideshow looks and is 100 accurate. Maybe get some glasses?
They both look very good in they own way. I think both dont look exacly like the show grogu. I get the HT one because of the moving parts. I dont wanna spend so much money on the SS version and have to cut the legs and arms and try to make it move. Later i fuck it up and have a broken grogu... So HT wins for me.
The new jaw upgrade really did it for Hot Toys. The seam and the emotionless facial expression were the only thing holding us back when they first released the prototype. The seam is much better now compare to the prototype and the look when his mouth is completely closed. Jesus get one before it is sold out.
I'm glad I got the Sideshow. I really love the face posing on the Hot Toys, but the ear seams are BAD. If the Sideshow one could be posed more it would be perfect, but overall still 100% confidence that the Sideshow 1:1 is best.
I own the sideshow and it looks much better you should’ve put the collar up and for the HT one I feel like his feet are too big and the articulation for his legs are kinda mehh. His ear seams are a no for me and they look like they would fall easily
Raise the collar on the Sideshow one to the neck lol! You can’t do a comparison and have one with the collar right and the other one totally wrong. Neither looks good at the neck
Best comment on this debate EVER, across multiple review videos I've watched. You are the champion. I was actually thinking about getting both, but I will never again be able to look at the SS version without seeing Mitch.
From my observations : SIDESHOW - Pros : The sculpt is spot on CONS : No articulation HOT TOYS - Pros : The articulation + face expressions CONS : The detachable ears is noticeable with the crease
Sideshow team up with Legacy effects to make the exact replica for the Child as the puppet in the Disney Mandolin studios. Legacy Effects madev the Grogu for the Mandolin show,so the hot toys Grogu is mobile, but the Sideshow is the better
Sorry, but this is an unfair and biased video. It’s like Sideshow Grogu wad purposely posed in an unflattering light. I’m a Hot Toys fanboy all the way, but I knew right off rip that because Legacy Collectibles was helming the project and not Sideshow, I knew it would be a winner. Nothing short of incredible that the Sideshow Grogu came out basically the same as the prototype pics. HT is very nice, but there’s no reason for me to have both. Do I wish Sideshow was poseable? Sure I do, but thankfully the way they have him posed works.
@@naomialvarado5153 Totally agree with you. I hate the way the Sideshow version is always looking up, i don't like the overly red cheeks and the way the arms just hang unnaturally.
@@bobavader1862 It doesn't only look up.If you put it like this guy did it doesn't look good. You can put it to look down if it looks down it is awesome.Better than hot toys.
@@jims1046 No,the head does not move down it only moves very limited left and right, the Sideshow version looks terrible in my opinion, i don't like it!!
Sorry how can you compare an statue with an action figure? Make no sense. they are not the same products. It like comparing a Ferrari with let say a Mercedes station wagon. Yes they are both car but do not have the same market and use. Like a statue and an action figure.
I compare them because I have them, they are the same character and scale. They serve different markets for sure but there are people who can't decide what they need it for. This video gives a look at both pieces together.
