the hottub scene is very sapphic, it doesn't feel ecchi or creepy compared to other anime

I think here the bath scene focused maybe a bit more on the boobs, but honestly the scene was really horny in the manga too. It's just that it never came to my mind to view it as fanservice - rather, i always saw it as an intimate and even erotic moment between Marcille and Falin. It didn't feel like it was there to just throw a bone to heterosexual male viewers, it was there to show the connection between these characters. But i understand why some anime only's have felt a little weird about it, since i think Trigger did play it up a bit.

There will be 12 more episodes after this, with the regular Thursday schedule. Dungeon Meshi will be 24 episodes in total. Also, the manga's demographic is adults! The comedy is lighthearted, but from the beginning it was intended for an adult audience.

The boob stuff is anime only, in the manga that whole scene is much more intimate and the hand holding even gayer

I think falin talking to the ghost was something she was always able to do given her specialty with dealing with the undead, I always saw the scene as Laios being used to her being able to talk with ghosts and not making a big deal out of it

The author did a lot of partial nude drawings in her extra chapters so it isn’t much of a surprise. In the manga, that bath scene was there, but the panels focused much more on their faces so I’m guessing the show runners wanted to play it up.

If anything the manga felt hornier in the bathtub, but that might be just me. I think the balance between the jokes and horror moments is easier(?) in the manga. Having the voice actors swing their delivery from comedy to serious moments is a bit easier to swallow when you're reading it yourself. Im so excited for the second half of the season!

Not sure if you've ever watched Studio Trigger shows, but they are Well Renowned for their extensive fanservice. Dungeon Meshi is one of the tamest shows they've ever made regarding fanservice. They did take some panning liberties for sure (and there's a couple sneaky animated nipples in the blood scene they snuck in as well) but trust me when I say that Trigger have been holding BACK on their fanservice potential. Thus far they've been channeling it into Senshi panty shots. The bath scene is pretty much the only fanservice-y scene that the girls get manga wise.

Maybe I've become desensitized because of the overwhelming use of fanservice in other animes, cause I thought the bath scene here was really played down in that regard. They followed the manga almost panel by panel, didn't use any really strange angles and passed on a lot of oportunities I know other series would for sure take, it just seemed more intimate than anything to me. The only shot I thought was more sexualized in the anime compered to the manga was the one where we're in marcille's POV and she finds the bruise, but I get that it was cheaper for them this way, instead of having to animate marcille moving. That senshi pantie shot was complete and utter horniness tho, it wasn't even in the manga shhdhdhhdjd

Seasonal anime often gets separated into cours of like 11-14 episodes, which are kinda like seasons but not always totally split - some shows have a short break between cours, some shows are longer. This one is getting back-to-back 12 episode cours, so 24 episodes total before a break. That will cover a little more than half the manga, so all us fans are keeping fingers crossed that we gets some news about new episode order to finish the show out once cour 2 is done.

A lot of the bath scenes in anime have a soul bearing aspect, aside from the gratuitous nudity. People are relaxed and some of the emotional walls come down, they are literally are bearing their emotion and the moment everything gets to heavy, they can throw in peeping toms or water park fun.

dungeon meshi is a seinen which means its intended for adults. shounen anime is intended for teenagers

New episode next week yea, show isnt ending for a while. Nice to have an actual 2 cour season for once. and yeah the bathtub scene in the manga was a lot less sexualized, or at least was still sexual but in a non-fanservicey way if that makes sense? (there was a lot more focus on the tension between marcille and falin). The manga is also extremely horny but like. in the way darksouls is horny.

It's a 2-cour anime. After everyone in the Eng-speaking anime-sphere got used to adopting the word "cour" for season (what, 12-14 years ago now?), people started conflating the two because... well, anime seasons started trending towards 12-14 episode seasons. The cours, of course, are the actual TV broadcast quarters, the three calendar months that make up one broadcast chunk of the year. Dungeon Meshi's first season is a 24-episode, 2-cour anime. Also, in the Japanese script Laios says something like "if the person in question is fine with it" when Falin eats the dragon meat, so we're supposed to be a little weirded out by the situation lol.

I honestly cannot wait for more of this show. And for your reactions to it, of course. I actually discovered you thanks to this show, and you seem like oodles of fun.

Don't worry, the shows going to continue as usual since this anime scheduled for 24 episodes, and luckily we don't have to wait for the continuation past 24 episodes as well, since the manga already finished, we just have to wait for Trigger to adapting it.

Standard anime seasons are usually about 12 episodes long, but this show is 24 episodes long, so it'll run for twice as long as a normal anime show, so this isn't a finale of any sort, it's just the halfway point. A lot of shows that began airing at the same time are getting to their finale's, but that doesn't make this show a finale in any sort of way, nor are they taking any time or hiatuses between now and the next episode.

The questionable shots are a plague in the anime industry in general. They do that sort of stuff all the time. It's not even portrayed as creepy in the manga, it was simply two girls talking while bathing.

Almost any anime--even one that doesn't lean much on the fanservice--will take the opportunity to throw in a lesbian fanservice bath scene if they can.
