I would too but they would have to wear eye contact for majority of the time which would make the actors feel uncomfortable. I then thought of CGI but that would cost way too much. Not only that but they have to make the actors stand on the same place as cgi on the eyes are harder to do.
it’s too distracting and would be a continuity error. It would bring up the issue of why Dany and Viserys didn’t have purple eyes in the original show since Dany is explicitly mentioned in the premiere’s opening and Dany being Rhaenyra’s direct descendant
@@Faye-Jane The content creator Glidus for i’m pretty sure his s1 dany review edited the eyes on Viserys and Dany to be purple. It looked good and was relatively easy to do.
@@realdaggerman105 Yes it looks so good yet they didn’t continue using it. It definitely was a money problem. But honestly I would like HOTD to show a little violet eyes like they did on S1.
@@Faye-Jane Game of Thrones never had them with violet eyes at any point. The purple eye editing was by the youtuber Glidus solely for one of his reviews. That was one man editing their eyes to be purple, so it definitely wouldn’t be expensive.
Alicent not having control over the small council despite being the queen makes perfect sense. The entire conflict is born from Otto and Company wanting to affirm male premageniture. They don't want a female ruler, they don't want a woman in the ultimate seat of power telling them all what to do. Of course they don't give a shit what Alicent has to say. As soon as Vizzy T dies, their deference automatically goes to Aegon, not to Alicent. It speaks to the sexism that kicked off this entire debacle that they don't show her any respect even though she is technically the default ruler until her son is crowned.
@@محمدطارق-ث7و3خIn the books, people do what she says when they like what they are hearing. When she has a difference in opinion that doesn't sit well with furthering the council's influence and blood thirst, she is ignored. You will see this happen. How can you say there isn't sexism when the entire war kicks off over the preference for male primogeniture?
Daemon implied Daeron exists when he said the Greens have 4 dragons. My biggest complaint about the show was not killing Laenor. How will Seasmoke bond with another rider if Laenor is still alive? It also plays into the pattern of whitewashing the Blacks...
I think they did that because of the Bury your gays trope in TV. Star trek discovery got a ton of backlash because of it and they just accomplished getting him out of the show without touching that trope, even if it is in the book.
@@havok6280 The whole 'bury the gays' protests led to Black Sails changing the ending of the show to a much worse version. The entire show is building up this character's descent into villainy and part of his motivation was his noble lover's father discovered their affair and ruined their lives. So the main character, a promising young officer in the Royal Navy, runs away to the caribbean and becomes the most infamous pirate since Blackbeard and basically declares war on the entirety of European society. The entire show was leading up to this tragic character's end, and at the last second they changed the intended ending. It sucked.
So true, they did that on purpose to glorify female characters which is ironic considering everyone knows Rhaenys was a great dragonrider and will proof it in season 2. Not to forget the Daemon trying to choke Rhaynera like wtf is happening?
The dragonpit storming makes Rhaenys come across terrible anyway since she massacred innocent smallfolk and threatened the Greens despite not having yet declared a side... Yet the writers view it as a "triumphant" moment which is concerning since they're the ones telling the story. It's one thing for an audience to misunderstand the story but it's a major concern when the storytellers misunderstand the story.
@@zuhirsawan404they did it because they didnt have the cgi budget to make a sunfyre model in the first season. Thats why we also dont see moondancer, or dreamfyre
I do think the show is a lot more pro team black than team green, at least with what the writers were trying to do. While I do think that Rhaenyra would be more vindictive and petty as in the books, I wish Criston Cole was more like the books the most. Him killing Joffrey Lonmouth in a tourney, and especially him going full send and killing Beesbury and becoming the kingmaker. In the books Aegon seems to become a bit a of a savage during the dance of the dragons, and it’d be interesting to see him essentially have to step up and get things done, but I am pretty sure he’ll be second fiddle to the duel of the girlbosses.
A lot of people seem to feel like the show is more pro team black also but they do somewhat tame down the greens from the book also, like having aemond accidentally kill lucerys , having alicent misunderstanding viserys last words, and having alicent be somewhat justified in her dislike of rhaenyra to whereas in the books alicent started hating rhaenyra the minute her son was born
@@sydnitheromantictaylor112 they kind of had to tone them down, because otherwise the show would look like a lame soap opera no one would want to watch. The Greens in the book are almost all comically evil, even Disney villains have more nuance and depth to them.
@@sydnitheromantictaylor112the show only made Alicent and Aemond better, that's all. You can't name other characters that got great treatment. Even Helaena didn't do much, even though in the book she was a great mother and had interactions with Viserys and Aegon. Almost all green characters were done dirty, especially Aegon,Cole and Larys. Moreover, do you remember the duel between a Blackwood boy and a Bracken teenager in episode 4? In the book the Bracken ( a green supporter) won the duel, while in the show it was apparently Rhaenyra's supporter. Also, there was no mentioning of their ages and how they acted in the book, but the show just made a green supporter act like an ashole towards a kid&lose a battle.Ror NO REASON.
idk, I like that Rhynera was pretty chill in the first season. I like the idea that she went from being a chill possibly good ruler to then go berserk and be more blood thirsty in the second season. Just hoping they make her more vengeful in it.
Great video as always! I think it’s really odd to ommit Daeron, to not even mention him by name. And I love that you commited to giving every Targaryen purple eyes in this video lol
I agree with every single word you said here. It feels so good to see somebody finally vocalize my thoughts. I freaking… Thank you dude! thank you so much for this! Putting into words what I couldn’t. I hate that the whole of this war is just happening because of misunderstandings. Drives me insane.
Yeah I get that. I think the show is a lot of fun, but Rhaenyra and Alicent have an edge to them in the book that just isn’t there in the show (except for Alicent’s Driftmark scene and Rhaenyra’s final scene). Hopefully at least Rhaenyra gets amped up a bit next season.
watching the what did we learn section after season 2 is low-key heartbreaking "if she looks at a book page once more and considers calling off the war, i might have an aneurysm" rip
I agree that the depth the writers gave alicent was definitely a smart move. The writers giving the audience at least a bit of a "whose side are you on" is a great way to encourage debate about the show and keep it popular for longer, hopefully being able to take away from the Game of Thrones-sized stain on the ASOIF franchise considering they're looking to expand it.
One of the changes from the book, making the velaryons black actually makes the strong boy situation so much more obvious and makes the dynamic much more interesting. Because it’s less of an argument, and more of a ‘emperors got no clothes’ situation. Where the bastards are constantly paraded around as being legitimate, and the whole thing sort of hinges on them being legitimate.
I loved how Viserys himself basically proves it too. Ep 1: Vizzy T - Tongues will not change the succession, let them wag Ep 7: Aegon - Everyone knows, just look at them. Vizzy T - Aight, anyone who questions the legitimacy of my only child's sons will have their tongue cut out
the obviousness of the Velaryon boys’ father is also super unsubtle in the books, so there’s no need to try and go for ambiguity in the show. It’s not a R+L=J situation where the identity of their father is mysterious and shrouded in conflicting information, they look nothing like laenor and the caveat of Rhaenys having black hair is invalid cause they come out with brown hair, brown eyes and pug noses.
@@turtleguyfan Except the boys' dark hair is attributed to Rhaenys who has black hair in the book by nature of being half baratheon. After all, the seed is strong.
Totally agree lol it makes for the more interesting story. If it were otherwise then it would be too confusing, open-to-interpretation, etc. Emperor has no clothes metaphor is the best way to describe it.
I don't understand why people all of a sudden began claiming that the show is based on "The Princess and the Queen", and Alicent and Rhaenyra have always been the main figures of the Dance. Their feud is essentially what leads to the war, it's what makes the poison spread, but the story of the Dance of the Dragons has always been about Aegon and Rhaenyra, brother vs sister, Targaryen vs Targaryen. The writers push this whole "The Princess and the Queen" thing so much, it stops making sense somewhere in the middle and goes even further, hurting the writing of both characters. Alicent acts like someone with MPD, flipping back and forth between loving Rhaenyra to the point of putting her interests above her own flesh and blood and hating her guts. Rhaenyra almost throws herself into her loving embrace after just one dinner, despite years of mistreatment and thinly veiled resentment Alicent has towards her children, then cries over that goddamn page too. I wish the writers would just let go until it's too late, but judging from the teaser they aren't planning on doing it anytime soon :/
I'm Team Black through and through, but I appreciate every single character involved in the Dance and would've loved to see all the Greens get more moments like Aemond in the training yard and Ep. 6 and 7 Alicent. Agreed on a lot of your thoughts (especially the cool things complaint), good video!
She was given the choice initially. From Alicent’s perspective, I can see why she’d be upset that Rhaenyra not only was given a choice Alicent was never given, but also squandered it anyway.
@@CrusaderChrisI mean was it really a choice tho? It was children , old men , and people she just didn’t like imagine having to choose your life partner at only 17 in that kind of society alicent was romanticizing it because she just wants any “ freedom “ she can get
@@dracovoided it doesn't matter if it was or wasn't. Allicent is still envious of the fact Rhaenyra got to choose between children, old men, and others instead of being shoved into marrying an old man who she didn't even get the choice for, like Alicent.
Hopefully they realize that in season 2 and make the morality more balanced. Since they largely went off Mushroom's testimony for Aegon, having Christon convince him to take the crown to save his brothers and kids could have been a very humanizing scene for him. And they probably won't address Rhaenys killing hundreds of inocent people either. One of the stupidest scenes
@@Thrawn23. I agree. They just couldn't let Aegon have his moment w/out shitting on him. I would fall out of my seat if we got some reference to it next season even if it was something small like hearing the entire populace of KL hates her now in passing or something lmao.
@@robot8290 it's not about whose claim is more valid and more about favoritism to a certain side in this medium of the story. Akin to D&D and their love for House Lannister while not really giving two hoots about showing the Greyjoys, Martells, Stannis, etc. I just want a faithful adaption is all and others want that too.
I thought Hotd was good. Only two parts I thought were dumb was Daemon charging crabfeeder with plot armor and the Rhaenys scene drove me absolutely nuts. It was so stupid and I agreed with everything you said.
Unpopular opinion: it IS a fantasy show at the end of the day and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, unbiasly speaking it is unfair and hypocritical to chastise Rhaenyra for not doing her duties when she was younger and calling her unworthy of the throne whilst supporting supporting Aegon who never does ANYTHING and is a drunken rapist.
they don’t care about that everyone will always shit talk rhaenyra on how she shouldn’t have had bastards , should’ve been an obedient princess , and should’ve just married high up not realizing that’s the whole point of the story 1. It doesn’t matter if she was perfect she was going to get usurped anyway she just have the greens ammo to shoot 2. Men do 10000x worse than what rhaenyra does and still ascend the throne and rhaenyra isn’t even doing anything THAT outlandish so atp they just hate rhaenyra and love rpist, women haters , and abusers
I have been BINGING your videos and I gotta say, you never fail to make me crack up in every single video. Thank you for making such great content! Also, I love how you always give the Targaryens their proper purple eyes.
It’s so well-said about ‘taking the sharp edges’ from characters. I for example really like book jon but they ruined him in the show by taking this away from him. I also agree with you about alicent and rhaenyra. I do kinda like alicent feeling more conflicted. I have more sympathy for her but it would make more sense to stick more to book version or they shouldnt let her flip from side to side
I love this show so much man! Can't wait for season 2! My one wish, for scenes to keep in the future, is definitely Silverwing trying to lift Vermithor after his battle with Seasmoke and Tessarion. That's probably what hit me the most while reading the book and I'm really scared it's not gonna make it into the show. My wish for original scenes instead is more vague. Just give more screentime and things to do to all the characters during the war. For me the story became too simple in Fire and Blood once the war starts, it basically became the Daemon and Aemond show with Alicent doing nothing and Rhaenyra not fairing much better then her while most other characters are just there for the most part. I'm pretty confident the writers will nail this point tho judging by the trailer and the fact that almost all the new scenes we got in season 1 were certified bangers and I'm sure it will be the same for the next seasons too.
Regarding the 2 female leads, I think they need to build up to their ruthless edginess. A TV series needs a traditional structure while the book is written like a history document so it doesn't have any character development at all. Also I thought it was obvious Cole killed beesbury on purpose but that's just me
I didn't think Christian Cole's killing of Lyman Beesbury came off accidental in the show. I did prefer the book's versions of what happened compared to but Cole is clearly has hots for Alicient and will do anything for her.
Aegon crown was done dirty alicent and rhaenyra friendship isn’t too bad but should have completely ended in season one alicent change from the books was one of the worst people say she was made more sympathetic but majority of the audience don’t like her book Alicent would have been better
It took all Alicent's anciency and also Criston's speech away. Also, Aegon refused the crown because he thought it was Rhaenyra. He only is talked into because of fear for his family. Let's not forget the Rhaenys scene instead of the cool crowing with Dreamfyre and Sunfyre. Also, Alicent crowing her daughter was a bad miss. Perhaps it happens in season two. Also, what happened with Blackfyre. It is a sword of made in Valyria for the house of the Dragon. Not symbol Westros with seven point star, and the crown, unless they targs changed the handled in the last hundred years they ruled there. U
Alicent seemingly being all over the place is honestly just a consequence of the scenes they cut from the first half of the season imo. As someone who's delved into every single interview and piece of background information, she makes perfect sense to me. She's a historical archetype thats far too common in our own history, a vulnerable neurotic girl forced to become an adult way too young, maritally raped and forced to bear children that her husband doesn't even need or care for in the slightest. And through it all, she still clings to doing her duty under this system of power, because if she accepts the truth about how terrible her life is she'll have a mental breakdown. Given that portrayal, Alicents pathetic jump to caressing Rhaenyras arm and calling her a fine queen is obviously an expression of her true desires after so long separated from her. Edit: Also, the book page wasn't meant to make rhaenyra feel better, it was a warning: Run, like nymeria did. It's the only way she can tell rhaenyra that they 100% plan to kill her, which was her entire issue in the green council
I don't understand how anyone finds Viserys sympathetic in the show. He treats both of his wives terribly. He kills his first wife in pursuit of a son, and then even after his second wife gives him three he dooms them by making Rhaenyra his heir. Which is utterly insane when it's so blindingly obvious that Rhaenyra's children are all bastards. She's the only one of his children that he cares about in the slightest. He's a failure of a king, a failure of a husband, and a failure of a father. All the horrors of war that follow are directly the result of his weakness. FUTHERMORE, the same is true for Robert Baratheon. If he hadn't been a drunkard and a fool then he could have fathered a trueborn heir and entirely avoided the War of the Five Kings. I don't understand how people can so easily give these characters a pass while hating on men like Otto and Tywin who, despite their moral failings, at the very least are acting with a sense of purpose. I'd rather a king who murders people at a wedding than one who's going to plunge the realm into years of senseless war because he couldn't bring himself to be sober while banging the hottest woman in Westeros. I'd rather a king who forces his daughter into an ideal political marriage than a king who fails to discipline his daughter, allows her to father bastards, disregards the welfare of his other children for her sake, and threatens to remove the tongue of any person who speaks the obvious truth about her behavior. To hell with men like Robert and Viserys. The only good thing either of those kings did was get Targaryens killed.
The show is decidedly pro-Black and y’know what? Fair enough, so am I. I don’t think you could make a good pro-Green show anyways. However, the show is also decidedly pro-Alicent and gives her a significantly outsized role even when compared to her hefty book role. Overall, it’s a pretty good show, even great by current Hollywood standards. But it’s not without its flaws. I’m sick of the “Oops! I did it again” aspect of this show. Everything has to be a misunderstanding. That’s super lame. The decision to centre the show not only around Alicent and Rhaenyra but around their relationship with each other has led to a lot of undercooked characters on both sides so far. Apart from the main two, Daemon and Aemond everyone else seems very barebones so far.
@@Darius-_ There are at least a dozen scenes that are as, if not more awful than the Rhaenys scene. Tourney in Ep1 Rhea’s death Joffrey’s death Alicent’s page Just super cringe all round. However, compared to 99% of TV shows out there, HotD is still a superior show. TV and movies are just a way lower standard than books.
@@fightingmedialounge519 It's heavily pro-Alicent and pro-Rhaenyra. The show seems to try and absolve the two women of as much culpability as possible and make them into innocent victims.
I love that you purpled the eyes and Damon looks like Elrich ! Thanks for pointing out the crown and lack of dragons, it seems HBO is continuing its fear of fantasy elements to make the universe "more appealing to grandma's and football players" The reason I mention this if anyone from HBO ever reads this is, you're selling a fantasy show from fantasy books, stop making it into a drama with fantasy elements.. were tired of homogenized stories with no unique aspects! You wonder why people didn't like the show when you take everything away that people are watching it for!
How dare you complain! I'm just kidding!! 😂 Solid points for sure! I did really enjoy the show, though, and I like how it's the "true" events without bias from Mushroom or the Maester in the book.
Now that you point out that the two claimants have never spoken on screen, it does stand out as a missed opportunity. However, having them not talk is also a valid choice by the writers to emphasize the fact that they are more or less puppets to their situation and to the people on their sides and are pushed into fighting a war to the death despite having no actual animus or conflict with each other personally
Why do you keep calling Aegon irredeemable? He not any better or worse that any of the other characters. The show just took every bad rumour about him and made it true. And every Rhaenyra bad action was smoothed over
notions of bias are so subjective, of all the times I’ve rewatched the show I’ve found myself leaning towards a different team each time while the season stays the same
Yes, agree with a lot of details. I guess it was because of limited time and budget. But maybe they can fix it in the second season by having flashbacks to scenes.
Awesome video. I agree they should've kept rhaenyra wanting to be queen instead of even considering the peaceful terms because those peaceful terms wouldn't have worked anyway, because otto wouldve had them executed or something else bad would've happened because too many people are wildcards, the kids hate each other and otto and daemon the each other also so there's no trust
It's fairly typical for female characters to be toned down, to do things because others want them, not because they want them for themselves - women aren't supposed to be ambitious for ourselves, let alone ruthlessly so. The show writers no doubt felt that if they portrayed the female characters as they were in the books, viewers would simply hate them; contrast viewers' reactions to male characters like Daemon, who often selfishly pursue their own ends in spite of the harm it causes others yet still attract devoted fans, and we see the still deep-seated sexism behind the show writers' decisions.
Aemond killing him as an accident was dumb as well Aemond was bat shit crazy in the books he didn’t need to humanized I understand dragons not listening all the time but thousands of people and the dragons dying for an Accident is just wrong why would he chase him with his dragon it makes no sense he wanted to to scare him wtf it’s not Disney he was just saying how he wanted to hurt him but at the last second pulls away vhagar could have killed him when he first saw him Aemond would have known that it’s bad writing
Nah, the fickle relationship between Alicent & Rhaenyra is meant to highlight something you actually put your finger on, which is that a chain of unfortunately bad coincidences are responsible for the mess they’ve found themselves in (excluding the bad mistakes they and the men around them make, I mean). My point is the show needs a way to win some sympathy for Alicent, a natural thing. It’s hard to be emotionally invested in a straightforwardly ambitious or one dimensional main character in the very first season. Secondly, just as in GOT, they’re both mothers and both ultimately prioritize their children first and understand that vengeance in the name of their children is dangerous. If we are to truly enjoy watching them plunge the 7 kingdoms into a civil war that will ultimately usher their house out of the dynasty’s Golden Age, then we should at least be given good reason to empathize with the two characters. Which brings me to my final point which is the very last scene of the finale makes clear the gloves will be coming off in season 2. Rhaenyra’s son has been killed by Alicent’s son. It’s why it ends with her looking to the camera speechless with fury. I think the show is too intelligent to fuck up this next season. It knows very well what it’s doing. A complaint I don’t see often enough is the excessive incest. Ok the world is made of it, fair enough, so was GOT. But we don’t need to see sexual scenes of it. I know there’s was only like or two but idk, it’s still gross and necessary. The whole point of it is to create political intrigue, nothing more. The show is already dark and sad as it is. There are other ways to show affection than by physical or verbal. It should be more of a plot feature, though in hindsight this series (&GOT) have less sex scenes than most other shows so I shouldn’t complain. PS- I actually like Rhaenys storming the dragon pit. It’s a set up for a future pay off that will add to the story, if the show follows the book at least. Aegon II flying with his dragon after the coronation would have offered far too much legitimacy for the Greens. This is all building up to a civil war for a dynasty at its zenith of power so like I said, it needs to be predicated on more than just ambition and fear, there must be nuance.
I agree with all your points. However, how can you not mention the greatest character omission?? Mushroom the greatest historian in Westerosi history! I genuinely wish he was in the series and we had a lil funny guy running around talking about his massive package.
“Team Dalton Greyjoy”? My brother in Christ, what is there to like about a violent, sadistic serial rapist? 🤔 his death and Lady Johanna Lannister maiming Rodrik and using him as a plaything for her own kid has got to be of one the most satisfying moments in the book 😂
When the show had multiple interpretation to select from due to peoples telling, I feel like being with dragon chow, still worse ones if this show was basic cable it would be acceptable but it’s HBO should go all out
Viserys was absolutely the best character. You felt so bad for him. He’s just a nice guy who wants desperately to keep the peace, making him a great human but a terrible king. Can’t believe Paddy Considine didn’t get any recognition - I was sure he would.
I’m pretty sure it’s true but someone can lemme know if I’m wrong. Aerys killed all the Darklyns and Hollards and several individuals, but I don’t think his total kill count matches Rhaenys.
The writing could be real clunky at times and they Panderversed themselves with a certain Valyrian family (the actors did a great job don't get me wrong) and a couple of other characters for sure were just modern feminist talking points. There was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to much fake p0rn which does NOTHING to move the story forward for a tv show except force me to watch the show after my kid has gone to bed. Other then those points it was produced very well.
The thing I hate the most about your videos are how you give them purple eyes, which stings so much because we've been robbed of that since the start of GoT. I just want my magical incest dragonlords to have purple eyes man.
george is helping to write the show and has said that is a much more accurate portrayal. the lesson is that a lot of stuff that happens gets blamed on ppl at the top, or exaggerated.
HotD is unironical hilarious That Laena and Viserys Talk that broke Twitter users Laenor being gay black and cuck Larys fetish with Alicent Helaena autistic behaviour Incel Criston Cole I think i forget more but that things made me laugh hard for a "serious GAME OF THRONES 2", they should NO TIME JUMP AND PUT MORE SCREENTIME on Harwin Strong and the CHILDREN or the kids of Aegon 2 Whats the point of season 2 if you barely see THE twins of Helaena LOL The rest is fine i Guess, and also they ruined Daemon now is a wife killer when making ambiguous is 10 times better . . . And Rhaenyra adult actress can't sell me she is a leader or an angry crazy dictator or a lover of Daemon, only as a mother is really good the other times looks so BAD for me
Oh criminy - the reason Rhaenys doesn’t make the “logical” choice is because: 1: People don’t always make logical choices, especially during high-stakes situations 2: As she literally states later, it wasn’t her ear to start (plus the unspoken reason of not wanting to be a multi-kinslayer). Personally I like the Dragon Pit scene. I don’t think it was necessary but it worked for me. Most of the nobility /don’t/ care about the commoners. And since the Greens we’re doing this big public spectacle, she countered with her own big public spectacle to mar it in the public’s mind. I don’t think Rhaenys expects the common folk to forgive her and I don’t think she cares much.
But people are also not complete animals who act without reason and Rhaenys had always been portrait as a calm and reasonable person, so her doing this is dumb and arguably out of character And about the nobility not caring about the smallfolk, the nobility is also not retarded and they know that if the smallfolk refuse to follow them they are lords of nothing, her stunt only made the people of King's landing hate her and whatever side she goes with and Rhaenys should have known this because she is always portrayed as fairly smart.
I liked the episodewith Rhanys and her floor entrance. Theres a fraction of the whole city there, and so the ones that are there are true Green supporters and really want aegon as king. Rhanys had her crown stolen by the council of women haters because she was a woman, and now she's watching the same thing happen to Rhanyra. Shes already lost her kids like Cersei(mentally had lost tomen) had in GOTs and didnt really have much to loose also. Cersei killed potentially 10's of thousands of innocents in GOTs and they made her Queen afterwards lol. Rhanys killed maybe a few hundred for treason basically to get her point across(traitors lucked out) and she was named "the cruel" for it. Guess its like Bron said, "killed the right people i suppose."
While I can agree that it was a little sloppy I feel like you’re missing the point of alicent accepting rhaenyra. For a few reasons. In the show they’re so close, implied lovers, and grew up together for many years. Before the marriage they are as close as two people can be. There is much love between them. People are complicated and can feel many emotions at once, and I do believe under the resentment, alicent and rhaenyra both still carry that love. I don’t think she ever really believed rhaenyra would have to kill her siblings to take the throne. I think it is perfectly believable that at this point she’s willing to, in her mind be the bigger person and forgive. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t jump at the chance when it presents itself for her to go back to her ambitions to put her own blood on the throne. I think the moment of reconciliation is there to show us that they are still family, which makes this war so much worse. But that’s just my opinion and I do get where you’re coming from.
"implied lovers" All over the internet people keep making this claim, yet having watched the season twice now there is nothing in the show that supports that claim.
they aren’t lovers tbh ( even tho the actors played them that way ) I just think it’s all platonic because alicent is just obsessed which isn’t love she lies about marrying her dad , uses rank on rhaenyra the first chance she can, bullies rhaenyra for 10 years, has her lover killed , talks shit about nyra to criston when he did the same thing nyra did but worse cause he’s a grown man + he took a vow, tries to take her kids eye out, and then proceeds to slash her arm not because of Justice but because she’s jealous she resents rhaenyra for representing everything she isn’t & can’t be aka free, a good mother, a husband + family that loves her, and people genuinely like her and don’t have to bond over talking shit but for her personality
