In my working life I gave managers many ideas about making more profits and very seldom got the recognition. Got paid a bonus a couple of times and in most occasions those managers pretended it was their own idea or just a team effort. When I stopped giving ideas I was asked why and I told them why. All of them sooner or later went away, while I invested my ideas in my own projects. That worked very well for me. Moral of the story: if a manager in total desperation asks for an idea, be sure you close a deal on paper before telling your plans and never give ideas away for free, especially not to managers.

As an owner of 2 businesses I would have got shot of that GM, as a business owner I be on his back he's the GM !!!! It is up to him to make sure the team is running well not just stand there saying or doing not very much and you shouldn't be in the home of the owner either IT'S BUSINESS!!! I do niot invite my staff or management to my home for a meeting ! That's done at work not my private residence ! son or no son manager or no manager !

GM throws everyone else under the bus but does nothing himself....

A new animal that had 4 legs hahaha, could be a cat, hamster, dog, rabbit, lizard, Guinea pig!!! That blonde lady is easily impressed, god knows what would happen if she saw a magic trick, she'd have a fit! Shes got lot ta learn.

GM seems like an empty suit?

I have done the AIDA FOR THIS BUSINESS! Its the GM who is apparently the biggest thorn in the flesh of this enterprise. He used to be a professor of business studies at some college, and hence, his approach to business problem structuring and solving is way out of line! too theoretical indeed. He is reading books and whatnot, but where academics suffer is a practical application of the knowledge. Most of these bookish worms who enter into the practical world FAIL and with them, the businesses also go down the drain.

Just looked at this hotel up on the internet - looks much better now inside and out and only 35 quid a night. I wish I lived closer!

Maybe a younger or mixed guest base as this business will soon be gone. Or at least bring some older gents in. Bingo singles night. There you go. But without a younger customer base, hotel wont last past mum's generation. No wonder son is not motivated.

These kinds of establishments are stuck in the 80s While all the big chains and foreign hotels have pushed for better service constantly attracting punters from around the world the British seaside has relied on older customers who want the same thing all the time but aren't a reliable or long lasting customers (they'll die or start choosing cruise liners) I worry for our seaside's when this is the kind of place calling itself quality

Forget mail shots that go into the bin. Go in person

back watching this in 2024 as modern tv is rubbish.

The owner thinks she needs to be hard as nails to run a business but you don’t necessarily get results with staff in a hotel like this. You need to gain respect. The general manager is useless. He should be around and lead by example. The son looks frightened of his own mom. And the dog... no words!

Stayed in this last year...was not impressed. Lift wasn't working and we were on floor 6 with 7 flights of stairs to climb, food was distinctly average and the dining room smelt of boiled cabbage, the bar, though open had no staff serving and the staff that were all foreign and seemed overworked. The so called cabaret consisted of one bloke singing over backing tracks and the advertised bingo was cancelled. The lady on reception though was a little gem and ended up rushing backwards and forwards between the two bars and the dining room...poor thing totally overworked. Non of the staff in this video were working there and i'm wondering is the place under new management, the place is now looking shabby and needs a makeover. The room we were in was acceptable though and was worth the (low end) price we paid for it.

Steph's no longer with us he had a heart attack and kicked the bucket.

Its the General Managers responsibility for standards but Steph gets all the hassle. Not correct. Owner should do inspections with the GM. That was the case when I was a GM in the 70s, 80s and 90s. GM studies business studies and becomes an Hotel Manager. Mmmmm

To far out of main attractions There is a tram and bus stop not to far away But a long walk into town And the trams will be going north to Fleetwood indoor market Will be full and you have to hope someone gets of Buses ok no 1

Here's my closing signal: 🖕 If Alan was any good at his job, instead of handing Andy a book to get on with it, Alan should have demonstrated what he meant and had Andy shadow him at work to observe and learn how to deal with situations and learn processes.
