Just keep in mind, that in "WAH" mode, when fully pressed down, this pedal gives you about 4-5 dB boost, so if you are playing with the amp on the edge of break up, it will go into overdrive, which is not what everyone likes (I personally don't care much)
someone needs to benford out a multi function volume / wah pedal that has independant wah and volume ins and outs so you can have the volume feature and the wah feature in different places in yiur chain. that would be class
First off let me say that I've had one heck of a ride with this pedal. I bought one from a dealer on ebay for 95 dollars, thinking I would save 5 dollars. That was a big mistake. The pedal came brand new in the box, but had some faults. The wah side sounded ok, but was very noisy. The volume side however was terrible. It had a crackle in the pot that became louder over time. Any swell was just drowned out by pops from the pedal. I emailed the seller off of ebay many times to get no response. I was very upset and out of 95 dollars. I emailed Hotone and once they got back from NAMM man did they come to my rescue. They were upset with this pedal not making their standards and very quickly remedied the situation. Not only did they send me a new Soul press without question, they aslo sent me a box full of awesome stickers and a t shirt that looks amazing on my girlfriend. Didn't have to send the broken one back which has now also become a staple to my board. If you buy a TRS cable, this thing becomes an amazing expression pedal. No power required! Unlike most expression pedals, this has an on/off switch like a wah. So has a delay expression you can build up some sick self oscillation and then cut it off with one click. Amazing quite pedal and superb customer service. I will personally answer any questions anyone has about this pedal as a payback service to hotone. Don't question, just buy it.
+Sara .- No, I'm in the US, but they have like 5 outlets. One in Germany if I remember correctly. You should be fine. 2 of my friends bought them and they came in fine.
My hotone works well for few months then it goes scratchy for both the volume and wah function :( If someone had an experience fixing a scratchy soul press, please leave some advice how to do it.
From a repair tech, what you need is a control cleaner with lubricant. I use one from Radio Shack, although almost no stores left but it can be ordered

Not the friendliest pedal when wearing any footwear that has a heel! Great tones abound though! Bought this on a whim years ago at a hole in the wall music shop that is usually only good for strings and minor supplies. Have never had a problem with mine in almost 5 years of use. Highly recommend.
Very interesting that it is able to have a the volume range from silent to full volume in volume mode. Typically this isn't possible if you're just modding something like a crybaby, since the up/down action of the pedal isn't enough to turn the potentiometer all the way. I'd be curious to see how they pulled this off either mechanically or electronically.
I'm not sure I like the ideal of the same pedal being volume and wah. During a live situation it's unlikely I would want to sacrifice either for a particular song. So really you'd have to get 2 of these and have one set to volume and one for wah. With that in mind they should have just done a wah and volume as separate pedals. Cheaper all round that way. Not for me but sounds good so a decent option for someone just playing in the bedroom.
$100.00 U.S. & it seems like it would be worth every penny. Pretty darn good tone. I just got the Dunlop Q Wah & This would have been fine for a little less.
Had one for about 5 yrs now. Only thing I hate is that when phantom powered from TRS into MFC you do NOT get the cool LEDs that part requires either a 9V battery or 9V plug
I like the sound of this pedal, but the pot on mine has worn out/gone faulty after only about 8 or 9 months. No amount of contact cleaner seems to fix it either. It's not just scratchy, the sound kind of cuts out and crackles throughout the sweep, sounding like a bad cable. Shame. I'll get something else next - I don't have enough confidence in Hotone to try another Soul Press.
I love watching your demos, man. I supplement Chappers and the Captain with your videos, especially when I'm shopping for bluesy amps. You've influenced my purchases of this pedal and a Fender SuperSonic amp and other stuff. But it's super disorienting to try to watch you play guitar left-handed :)
This pedal needs a stereo jack "1/4" TRS (input or output ???), in order to function the expression of the pedal, then how is the technique to connect this pedal to another stomp box with TS plug input (mono)?? Thanks.
Im looking to get this pedal. Im planning on stacking about 6 -7 pedals after the Soul Press, do you think this would deteriorate signal quality? Would a Buffer solve it? Love your channel. Thanks
So I bought one, 2 months in, crackling and scratchy sound . Possible damaged vol pot. Awesome pedal, it just didn't hold up as long as it did. I'm curious; Shane do you still have your Soul Press? How's it holding up?
hi thanks for the video. had a question? Does it automatically turn to volume once u switch the wah off? i know the button on the right wont turn itself. But does it have that facility. if not then which wah does. Am looking for a mini wah.
I can not get expressions function to work with any delay pedal at all Not Boss, not any brand I have tried in music stores. Perhaps I am not plugging it in correctly? Fits into effects pedal board nice and compact, good to have a wah wah in there without hassle of setting one up outside the board because they were too big before Hotshot made this.
Nice sound. interesting. But I had a similar size pedal, AMT WAH, and it was difficult to switch off/on it fast, though sounded OK. Never had such a problem with a regular size wah. Do you have this problem with that pedal? Also, is it optical and can it be wah and expression simultaneously?
I'm a little confused as to how this works. Can you have it set on volume as a default and then it switches to was whenever you press down all the way and click the switch?
Would you make another video of using this pedal as an expression pedal hooked up to delay? Please also explain what type of cable needed that you said "I don't have at the moment." Great video
Thanks for the review, Shane! Quick question - how evenly did the volume pedal work throughout. Was it a straight curve from 0-100 throughout the enitre travel of the pedal? I've seen a few videos where it sounds like the 0-75% is in the 1st 3rd of pedal travel, with the remaining 25% over the next 2/3rds. Thanks for any advice!
do you get to keep all the stuff you get sent to demo? I'd imagine if that was the cse, someone like ToneKing would need to rent a storage unit in order to be able to actually have room for all the swag he gets!
Did you notice any noise when using this combined with certain overdrives? I have this little guy, and at first all seemed well but when combined with my amp directly (Blackstar HT-5) or with the use of a Suhr Riot distortion (or any other medium to high gain pedals) it seems to give strange noises when it is almost fully pressed. Any ideas?
Tim Rodenburg ... heard of this ... can happen ... possible cure measures: - reverse the order of the wah and the distortion - put a buffer in between My BC108 has a switchable buffer to avoid this so i don't have this problem

When i chose the Expression mode the sound is of .i only use vol and wah . So can u help me.( can u make a video and move the black nut to the mid mode( Exp) and use it.thank you Sir
Expression is for attaching the pedal to another effect to affect the modulation of that effect via the pedal. So it's like a plug-in controller for another effect.
I have this wah wah pedal... what special cable do you need to use expression mode? (currently I'm not able to use expression mode because i'ts not compatibile with line 6) Maby the special cable will help?
A question. Can the pedal switch from wha to volume mode just by pressing down on the switch under the foot pedal or must one switch between modes by hand using the slider switch on the side of the pedal?
Samuel Herring email the Australian distributor and ask him to drop the price of them to a reasonable wholesale price! ;-) hehe. I'd stock them if they were comparable to some of the other brands I stock but the middle man makes it way too expensive for my taste - especially in Australia.
If you need to use all three modes simultaneously on a live situation you would still need to use three different pedals. Not very cost efficient, if that was the intent of Hotone.
It's not like buying 3 separate pedals is cheap anyway. Besides, plenty of other means to set volume, so using pedal only for volume swells or wah makes sense. Have wah in one song and expression in another wouldn't be hard to switch cables just can't do it in the same song.
why didn't they not make it possible for the expression and wah effect to be combined thus giving the player the option of combining both if he/she so wishes .
While I can not speak for Hotone. In making pedals I have found while the combination of two circuts makes interesting and wonderful sounds, that splitting the signal like that is difficult. Especially on a single potentiometer driven device like this it would be impossible with out, probably, making the pedal twice the cost and probably size as you would need extra jacks and internal components. Not to mention paying R&D to figure it out in a large company like Hotone. I'm am just glad the gave the option of the switch that makes this pedal one up on the compatiotion and I shall be buying one.
You can change how the sweep works. So can have it so it kills the sound fully or just makes it quieter (a bit less than half) at the bottom of the sweep. Make sense?
just tried in music store and this is too small to play, hard to control... for everyone who gonna buy this make sure u try it first. very different from the crybaby standard size of wah pedal
... why not plug the pedal into a typical combo amp and forget all the extra stuff ?... most guys buying a first pedal dont have mini amp heads and lots off effects
