HOUSE BUILDING IN THE PHILIPPINES - EPISODE 26: CEMENTED FLOOR FINALLY Message us: Facebook: / retiredandhappyinph Email: retiredandhappyinphilippines@gmail.com
It is recommended to wet dry for 7 days to reach optimum compressive strength of concrete...This means covering the entire floor with burlap/heavy drapery and wetting it occasionally...Rice husk...newspaper...cartons are also alternatives...
Someone was comenting about the water in concrete. I pour everything on polyethalene to keep the cement and water from settling into the gravel base. With the plastic we have "water rise" which is a clue to hustle on the finishing if you aren't finished, then "water fall" after which it is set too much to to do anything with. In the PH slabs are thinner which sets up quicker, and no water rise occurs since it is poured over gravel. If it is not poured a little loose it is hard to finish and they throw water across the surface and broadcast cement to make a slurry they can trowel. Without enough water I see stress cracks as it begins to set over the rebars and on inside corners. They also have a lot more time for finishing since it is a one bag mixer and there is often just mixed concrete available. With ready mix trucks dumping 3 at a time it takes a power screed to keep up. I once did 173cu cu yds from -- 9 yard trucks in 3 hrs 20 min in August. It was setting 45 minutes behind the pour . Worst thing was traffic jambs of redimix trucks on a single lane path 1/2 mile long and driving around a truck that drove into a canal. And they say it is more fun in the PH. george and aurora
The plastic makes for a great water barrier and floor doesn't sweat after a rain, such as carports, garages, and driveways do. I use it as well. Yes and the water (or cream) comes to the top as part of the process of concrete.
They would love a bull float and extension poles, a power vibrating screed, and power trolley and a power trowel. At least they got a hand held vibrator but that is also available in electric and cordless. Search for concret vibrating tools and you will see them all.
You guys have a good crew building your home the guys are always happy doing this hard work very impressed here in the states workers would complain about the heat amongst other things and they get paid pretty damn good compare to what ur contractors workers get paid in the Philippines 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏽
Hi guys, we just found your channel and will follow your build, your doing a great job. We have followed My PI Dreams from the beginning, as we will begin this journey in 2 years. If you have concerns about your rebar spicing, just google, beam rebar splicing diagrams, that will be most important in the overhead beams. I'm no expert but I have poured a little concrete and I have been doing a lot of research for my build. I'm wondering about your water ratio in your mix, it should be measured, as that affects the strength of your concrete, it looks really soupy even after your comments to the foreman. Thanks
Thanks for checking us, i know sometimes its watery but theyre getting better and better everytimw we tell them less water...Were going to watch them when they mix for the column to make sure its not watery. Thanks for the thoughts
I noticed that they didn't put chairs on the rebars on your floor slab. The chairs will lift the regard from the ground to prevent the steel from corroding. The termite control liquid should have been mixed with the soil material. I would've asked them to pour termite control at least a foot away from the footprint of the house and dig a 2 ft deep trench and pour it there. Just making a comment. I've been following your house build up from the start.
Those working the mud (what workers call concrete mix) LOVE a crazy wet mix: less work as it dang near self levels.Of course it has minimal strength.Soupy 3000PSI mix actually yields closer to 1200 PSI but there are a lot of variables. Only way to know is with a compression test of a sample.
I'm thinking they should have had the steel setting up off the gravel ... so that the steel rebar is in the center of the cement, not laying on top of the rock. At least, that's the code typically here in the US.
I find there’s no thought process with these people. Example, putting a cap full of bug killer in the water but they don’t stir it. They certainly don’t think the way we think. This is my personal experience. A great bunch of lads but you have to watch them 24/7
No polyethylene plastic for a vapor barrier under the steel in the slab? Maybe the cement floors don't sweat there like they do here do to warmer climate?
Wrong application of termite treatment. Now all the rebar is contaminated with termite chemical. A no no in construction. They are really doing it backward in electrical rigid conduit piping installations. Conrete mix has too much water again. They measure the water. The engineer came in late and did not see the incorrect procedure in the application of termite treatment and the missing vapor barrier on the slab on grade.
Madam tanong ko lang yong vibrator ano yong engine hp nya at yong vibrator hose nya at presyo, kasi gusto kong bibili nang ganyan para sa paggawa nang garahe. Salamat madam nanunuod dito sa sweden
I bought auto darkening helmuts for the two welders, the welder at the mahine shop across the street, a former worker that went to welding school`, and the local vulcanizer that has changed 11 flat tires from our screwed up by quarry trucks road.. Tough on motorcycle tires.I just can't watch sun glasses welders. They all like and use the autodarkening helmuts. Not so much the welding gloves which are only occasionally used.
