I’m a real estate agent I have had clients tear out hundreds of thousands of recently put in improvements for that reason. Never put changes into your house. I’m in the process of buying a new home. The previous owner has done basically the same thing and putting in improvements that I don’t want so you were right on
I’m all in to watch this series! Loved that you started with the house hunt… it’s so exciting/stressful/frustrating, especially when you really want out of the current place! As always, love the editing, style and flow… can’t wait to see the vision(s) come to life.

When my wife and I saw our current home in the open house, we immediately knew it was the one. We were so excited and over the moon about it, put in an offer that was WAY over asking... only to find out we were the 4th highest offer and all the others were straight cash. One was $150k over asking, all cash. Anyways, the first two fell through and we signed as a back up when they were going through the process with the third one, which they eventually backed out and we secured the house! It was a STRESSFUL process but we knew our house was the one and we weren't going to give it up.
This series is very relatable and is going to be a hit. So excited for this. And, you live like 15 minutes from us and it's pretty awesome just knowing that. {Helicopter flys over} THAT WAS BECKY AND CHRIS!!!

Just found you due to Ugmonk mention. What a show. We did the same thing 45 years ago, but our tastes were Victorian (it was 1984). Our daughter did the same thing in LA, but alone and with a demanding job, she opted for move in ready. We're looking forward to following you on your reno journey. One thing I was hankering for was details on costs of acquisition, bidding process, and reno expenses.
I actually didn't think I'd be interested in watching this latest series of yours, but it's really entertaining. I'm no where near looking for a home. After selling a home years ago I am convinced that I won't get back in as an owner, but great start to the series. Still in the middle of the first episode and am convinced that I'll keep watching.
Congrats! As a Realtor that has worked with multiple clients for over a year, you guys had a great agent with Steph. The fact that you got the first house you offered on is almost unheard of right now.

What I love about you guys is that you don’t just review gear . You actually make these killer short films that insanely draw you in . It’s crazy how good you guys are at RU-vid’s … loved this ! So good !
As a Realtor, I really enjoyed this. As a fan, loved the way this was shot and how open you guys were about the journey. It can be hard looking for homes in this hostile market. Where I live, homes are going 20% over listing price in some cases so don't feel bad about going over the asking price. I can't wait for the next episodes!
Only 20%? Here (Launceston, Australia) currently that’s an absolute minimum offer, generally more like 25%-35%, depending on the price. More affordable places (< $400K) have gone up massively as everyone’s been shifted down the market. It’s all a de facto silent bidding process - put in your best offer (amongst a dozen or more usually) and hope for the best. Made offers on nine places over a two month period before one was finally accepted. Far cry from 15 years ago when I sold my first place, where the realtor came to the pub with us to keep the negotiations going with a buyer until we were all happy.
@@headwerkn Here in Atlanta, Ga I showed a house listed for $790k that ended up having 58 offers and went for $907k in cash. It's just brutal for buyers.
@@PotatosPotatoes that sounds more like here ATM. Workmate listed his place offers over AUD$750K and it sold 4 days later for AUD$975K. But the bottom end of the market it’s even worse: crappy 1br apartments listed as offers over $230K-250K are selling for $330K+. Another (admittedly very nice) 2br place was listed at o/o $375K ended up selling for $610K. A number of friends have just given up trying to buy now. The whole situation is just disheartening. The only thing that kept me going was the rental market is even worse… :-/
Fantastic first episode. I was a kid in St.John’s in the early 70s before mom and dad moved us back to Montreal. Beckie’s accent always takes me back to The Rock. Love your stuff youngsters.

We just bought our first home here in December of 2021 - in a sellers market. It was so stressful trying to find something that we liked - and you basically HAD to offer more than asking. We got into a bit of a bidding war for the house we got - but we paid what we thought was fair considering the work it needs. Really excited for this series since we have so many things we want to do as well.

Great episode. Showed my wife now she wants to hang with you. Looking back it’s funny to see how happy you guys are pre 2020. With house prices going crazy is it funny to think about how prices back then seemed so expensive?
