Robin Wright Is amazing. Dont get me wrong Spacey is also amazing, but her scene toward the end of season 2 where she was so stoic and cold and finally broke down for just a second or 2 when she was sitting on the stairs was just amazing. Everyone talks about Spacey and his great accent, acting, and oration, but I feel Robins character maintains such deadly cold beauty. Its more of what she doesn't say. Things like her posture and her air of presence that communicate so loudly her persona.
Edward Johnston Are you serious? Without Wright, Willimon's script could not have been effectively portrayed the way he intended it to be -- Wright probably even exceeded his vision. You are naive to think credit belongs solely to the creator of the show and Spacey for his phenomenal acting alone. What about the staff writers that contribute their ideas, many of which you've probably seen in the final cut? What about the crew behind-the-scenes that are essential for the project? Your narrow-minded mentality disables you from, as Frank Underwood would say, "looking at the bigger picture." And, to be frank, your smug and embarrassing attack make you seem childish. Might want to work on that.
I love HoC and one part of this love is the audience. Great words in her Character. I dislike her and I am so disturbed by her relationship, her calculated behavior. Isn't it amazing if a actor or actress can portray something so real that you nearly grab it ? Amazing show. Cant wait for season 3
Well said! and yes the scene where she breaks down , sitting on the stairs and then picks herself up so beautifully and walks up those stairs, with the opera music playing in the background, was truly amazing. And there was no one to console her, on the contrary she was always there for Spacey when he broke down or if he was in a vulnerable state of mind.
I grew up watching Robin Wright in the soap opera Santa Barbara. She was in one of my top three favorite films of all time, The Princess Bride. Now she's in one of the great political dramas of all time.
Beau Willimon and Armando Ianucci should write a British version together now that it's been about 18 months since it finished there... it's been long enough since the original BBC HoC and then Party Animal, Thick of It etc finished~
Casting is mostly spot on and generally all of them have delivered very apt or gun performances. Two big limitations of this show are: 1. the inevitable goals are very clear that both husband n wife want to become the president. And it is also obvious that both will keep manipulating people and whatever dirty to achieve that goal. 2. There really is no counter balancing character against the protagonists except for a few scenarios. With these two limitations, you get very tired watching the same theme in all seasons. Instead there should have been a track which is less grey and more straight.
Really great show the arc of ambition is something that will always captivate us in drama or comedy. From the great mythos of Greek and Latin to the great plays of Shakespear and tv great shows like House of Cards, the Wire it goes to show you as much as the circumstances are always changing the story, and nothing but the story never ever will.
Next time move the interviewer's mic a little farther away from him, really distracting hearing him breathe throughout the whole thing. And Robin Wright's closer. Just ... fix the mic situation.
It started a few days ago on Netflex. The main reason I watch it is because Claire his wife is smoking hot. I am hoping for a nude scene. Any way it is not just one episode a week like every other show on tv shows. Netflex has the whole season on tv at one time. No commercials I finished the entire season in 1 and a half days It was pretty good. I thought last season they were running out of ideas, but their writers have some imagination. I was making love to the wife and she asked why I kept calling her Claire. I told her no I said I love your hair. I still have my cuff links on my dress shirts that say F U stands for Frank Underwood. I gave a pair to my oldest son. I could not find a pair that said F U. So I bought pair of F's and a pair of Us. It's a pretty good show. The star has shifted from Kevin Spacey to Robin Wright that alone made the show even more interesting.
