You cannot steal a dragon. A dragon is not a family heirloom that is passed along. A dragon chooses you.

Alicent is judgy because she does her duty and does things according to how they should be done. 1. Her father gave her instruction to get close to the king and she obeyed him and did her duty 2. The king calls her to his bed when she’s sleeping, she gets out of bed and goes to him so he can have his needs satisfied. 3. She gives him kids and is only loyal to him and doesn’t sleep around behind his back with other men. rhaenyra hasn’t lived a life fitting of an heir or future Queen so the judgement is rightfully there. When you’re the heir it doesn’t matter what you want to do with your life you have to sacrifice that and live a certain way it’s the way it is but rhaenyra wants to be free to live her life the way she wants which is fine but then she also wants to be queen. You can’t have it both ways.

The writers have plotted out three possible four years for HOT D, so we will get at least two more seasons.

In the show Rhaenyra was 18/19 when Daemon took her to a pleasure house and at Rhaenyra&Leanor's wedding Leana was around 15/16 (in 2nd episode it was established that Leana is 12 while Rhaenyra is 15). Deamon married Leana around that time so I don't think the age was an issue with Rhaenyra. I think he really cared about her and didn't want to destroy her life by marrying without Viserys's approval.

To be fair, Aemond was attacked by Leana's daughters first. Sure, he was being a dick but it only got violent after they attacked him and he was defending himself. He claimed Vaeghar but even the dragon chooses it's rider so he deserved it by some standard. Alicent's reaction seems extreme but her son, the prince, lost his eye after being attacked. Joffrey killed the butchers boy for literally nothing, in this case, the damage done to Aemond is a lot worse. Heir or not, you cannot cut off a prince's eye without consequence.

As much as Aemond was an asshole, he was also right. Dragons don't pass down to their rider's children. The dragon allows a person to be its rider and whoever manages to claim a dragon first gets to be its rider.

It is troubling how none of these reactors speak on the fact rhaenyra having these kids was selfish of her. They can be killed just for being bastards. Interesting how no reactors speak on how reckless and in the wrong she was for it. she couldn’t sacrifice sex with other men. these bastard children hurt her chances of becoming queen because everyone knows making her queen would only put a bastard on the throne after her. Her own actions made it 10x more difficult for her and her family but yet no reactor wants to admit. Honestly from what I seen is that she lacks control, self discipline, and honor due to the lack of her willing to sacrifice her sex life. And she wasn’t smart enough to plan ahead to avoid this situation where everyone knows her children are bastards when she knew 10 years ago this was how she agreed with laenor to live her life. Also “a few times” isn’t trying for a baby. Give it 5-7 years before you say you tried. She doesn’t display qualities or morals of a ruler

Aemond may have been an asshole and filled with a new sense of power, but those other kids were clearly in the wrong. They struck the first blow as well as the last. Every blow that Aemond struck was retaliatory. He only used that rock as a weapon once, and that was when jacerys pulled a knife on him and started swinging. Cheering for Aemond’s childhood bullies beat him up in a 1v4 is kind of distasteful. You don’t get to cut a 9 year olds eye out, just because he said something mean.

Haelena is clairvoyant. The verses she recites are prophetic. Hands turn loom spool of green, spoll of black Dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread The hands (Otto Hightower for the greens and Daemon Targaryen for the blacks) are plotting. The greens and the blacks are weaving their flags. With green thread and black thread.

From what I remember, Aemond is going to be even more vicious than Daemon is.

Did you realise that Alicent's daughter Helaena predicts the future? Last episode she was holding that millipede in her hands and was saying, the last ring has no legs, predicting Bran will be the King. At that time Alicent was telling Aemond that you will have a dragon one day and Helaena was saying "he will have to close an eye". Which came true as well. He gained a dragon but lost an eye. In this episode she was holding this spider and saying hand turns loom, spool of green, spool of black, meaning Otto is stirring sh*t leading to the division of blacks and greens. She then said dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread, which I didn't understand. Maybe someone who interpreted it can tell me. She then snaps that spider in that shell and the camera cuts to Larys.

i've seen so many people saying that aemond deserved to be injured like this but i honestly don't believe that's right. there are many things to dislike or even hate aemond for but claiming vhagar is not one of them. a dragon isn't an object you possess or inherit. a dragon chooses the rider and vhagar chose aemond, it's as simple as that. of course aemond was unnecessary rude to the girls but it was baela who attacked him first. and i'm sorry but what should've aemond done then? four against one is such an unfair fight, i get why he took that rock. and nothing gave jace (as much as i love him) the right to attack aemond with a knife in the face. he could've killed him. it makes me a little sad how everyone is on the side of jace, luke and the girls even though both sides were totally in the wrong here. in the end they're all just children.

Viserys very clearly cared more about protecting his daughter's children's true identity than he did about his own son's life-threatening injury. If I was the Queen the King would’ve had to deal with a lot more. When Viserys is raging at Aegon (great acting by Paddy Constantine btw) and you can clearly tell the boy is shaken inside. But he doesn't lose frame. The biting resentment with which he delivers that line "We know father. Everyone knows" tells you everything you need to know about our next king. Yeah alpha uncle beach sex is cool and all but it’s every one of these scenes with Alicent, Otto, Aegon that are A1. It's this side of the Targaryen coin that feels way more intriguing. Not keeping Otto scenes in favor of Laenor scenes is like not keeping Tywin scenes in favor of Podrick.

No, Vhagar was as rightfully his as it was Baela... Vhagar was Baelon's dragon, Visery's father dragon and Aemond is older. Also Aemond is way more alike to Visenya in nature and thats why she accepted him. Dragons cannot be inherited, they are claimed by any targaryen family member able to do it. So the whole fight was just started by the girls cause of jealousy 4 vs 1 and 2 of them were his former bullies. Notice he didnt use the stone, but they used the knife on him. Definitely he was the victim and they were at fault.

Aemond was doing what any legitimate Targaryen has the right to do which is claim whatever dragon he wants as long as it has no rider. Dragons belong to House Targaryen, they are not inherited and cannot be stolen, a Targaryen can choose a dragon, but the bond is complete when the dragon accepts the rider, Daemon's dragon was from Rhaenys father, the dragon of Rhaenys was Daemon's mother, Vhagar before Laena was Daemon's father's dragon, the bond is broken when the rider or dragon dies, so Vhagar can be claimed. It can be said that it was disrespectful to do it at Laena's funeral, in the books it is not done at Laena's funeral, but even more disrespectful has been Daemon and Rhaenyra getting married 24 hours after Laena's funeral in front of the daughters of Laena, not to mention that an innocent person was killed for Laenor's faked death.

FYI, Daemon and Rhaenyra did get married really quickly in the book too after their spouses died, scandalously fast. Plus their (slight spoiler) son was born in the same year as Laena’s death, so they must have started an affair just after her death, so the show’s pretty accurate still. But marrying right after Laenor’s ‘death’ is really pushing it lol, they really can’t wait. And made their kids watch too, when the boys think their dad just died! Like the change to Laenor’s fate, tho there’s the issue of Seasmoke.

THEN I remembered that I set my TV "Shadow Detail" feature to 50. It brightens dark shadows. It's amazing. Guys, check your TV's for this feature.

Alicent has always been right about Rhaenyra. And because she's the only one in this story doing what she's supposed to be doing for the realm, she's the HERO.

It is theorized that there is a bond between a dragon and it's rider. They sort of share part of their souls. So it's possible that Aemond after bonding with Vhagar got some of her fighting spirit and toughness which could explain why he was so harsh and beat up the other 4 kids that way. Vhagar was Aegon the conqueror's sister wife's dragon and she has been through a ton of battles, conquered westeros ofcourse. Probably the oldest and biggest dragon in the world during this period.. there is a wild dragon called "the cannibal", nobody knows how old it is or if it might be bigger than Vhagar or not, which is why I said "probably".

what is wrong with all reactors, i know u support rhaenyra blindly but you supporting a boy's eye taken off for some slurs is awful. Well you can’t steal a dragon. The dragon either eats you or accepts you as it’s next rider. The rider has no say so. Many riders have been eaten while trying to claim a dragon.

I mean, you can have your dislike of Alicent and even side against her... But to say that "Rhaenyra has never done anything to you" it's to be quite blind of Rhaenyra's mistakes and what let them to the position that they are in... Rhaenyra's hands are definitely not clean, in fact, she has done a lot more damage around her that Alicent has done so far... The damage she did to Cole's position and almost his life... Look at the position of danger than Rhaenyra put Harwing and look at where he ended up; all of it because of his affair with her, something that Rhaenyra should've been wiser about, specially for a person she claims to like... And the all around chaos Rhaenyra's bastards situation is creating for the succession and the realm... She doesn't just weaken her own position with her "I can do what I want attitude and get away with it", but she is also causing instability for the realm and for her house; every since she was named heir she has done thing after thing that only made her look worse and worse and less deserving of the position she is in... And all of this actions hurt others, including Alicent... Like Rhaenyra blatant lie and promise on her mother's name that made Alicent take her side against her own father and family, just for Alicent to find out that Rhaenyra is quite content with lying to her, manipulating her and not have an ounce of remorse about it... Rhaenyra has done plenty for Alicent to view her as she does. Yes, Alicent snapped badly in that scene but it is understandable since that's her child that just lost an eye, in a fight that if we are being real and technical, the other kids started... Because even tho Aemond was definitely an ass, the girls were the first one to get physical and for something that they have no right to be; dragons aren't the family car that gets passed down from father to child, the girls had absolutely no claim on that dragon and the dragon decides it's next rider... So the other children aren't blameless and even with that Rhaenyra acted like she was entitle to more punishment for Aemon, and even for others that DARE SPEAK about this "blatant lie" about her sons being bastards... Which is a clear sign of her manipulation towards her father, to others and her feelings of entitlement and privilege... Once again, we can agree that Alicent went full blow Karen in that scene, but what she actually said to Rhaenyra, her actual words, were not a lie at all... Alicent has done everything that was asked of her, everything to keep the realm at peace, chaos at bay and has done everything properly while Rhaenyra's entitlement is thru the roof, doing what she wants and flaunting it in others peoples faces, without caring about the damage it does to others or to the realm and suffering no consequences for her actions while others do.

People hate Alicent for speaking the truth. People love Rhaenyra for gaslighting everyone with blatant lies. Go figure.

I love how this show is exposing all the LYING scum in our world. 😂 "Aemond is gonna lie," when the greens have been truthful this whole time, and Rhaenyra does nothing but lie. And then you have all the liars defending her by lying about her lies. This is beautifully done. I also love Viserys preventing people from speaking the absolute TRUTH 'cause when people can't speak the truth, it never leads to a revolution.

This is a story about how some flawed people turn a bad ugly situation into worse. That is the meaning of this. It shouldnt be viewed as team A vs team B. They are all flawed. Again, this is not Star Wars, no power fantasy. The story has real meaning and tells something interesting about human history. Yeah, they let Laeonor be gay at the end of the world, but they forced him to give up his whole identity, + lying to his parents about his death, + killing an innocent dude. I guess he was expendable, because he didnt have white hair... And all for that fucking throne.

Btw the light is just a bug/filter from HBO Max. Its fixable via windowing the player while its playing and moving it around a bit. No idea why that fixes it but it makes EVERYTHING in the dark scenes more seeable. I wish HBO had a manual settings thing

Pretty sure they have all the book material needed for this series.

There is no chance of the show having a GoT situation where HotD passes up GRRM in the book. The story they are telling is covered in its entirety in the book. From beginning to a complete ending. Though, Ryan Condal has already stated that HotD probably only has enough story to last three or four seasons. Whichever one that it is, all seasons of this series will be adapted from the story as it's told in Fire and Blood.

Not sure about laptops but on TVs going to settings and changing shadow detail, gamma, and TV mode helps more than increasing brightness. I could see everything

I'm sorry, you are ok forgiving Daemon Targaryen ignoring his children on the night of their mother's funeral, and Rhaenyra ignoring her children as they grapple with their true father's death, and they elope to have beach sex, but Alicent is the asshole. They are clearly shitty parents and people. Daemon NEVER was with his kids this episode to help them through the grieve. How do people like these characters is beyond me

There is enough book material to go for 3 seasons of this show, maybe even 4. So next season will not be completely made up. Writers will have to fill a lot of details but they already showed us in the first season that they are capable of doing that...

This episode was clear for me lol I disagree about Aemond, u too now probably, after seeing his true self come out after his confidence is boosted by claiming Vaghar(Female dragon btw). The most resonable & kind kids are Jace & Luc, Rhaenyra's kids, she's also a much better parent as we see in ep6. Jace and Luc I've noticed are sweet caring boys wen theyre alone or not with Aegon. Only time Rhaenyra's kids have teased Aemond is when Aegon's encouraging it & being the actual culprit, we've never seen them like that without Aegon or to one another. Aegon even seems more reasonable then Aemond, Aegon just wants to be a teen, chase girls, drink & fly his dragon lol. Also to be fair, Aegon being bored at the funeral isn't him being an arsehole, it's him being a typical kid, plus he doesn't have any relationship with Laena, he was a toddler im sure, when they last met.

It isn't weird cause it's not real. And it was normal in their world.

Every episode feels like "Oh, hey Viserys. Still there, huh?"

You expected Rhaena to just stand there and do nothing? Accept what just happened when she doesn't have a dragon of her own? So she attacked first and Aemond did need to defend himself as it was 1v4. But it still doesn't excuse what Aemond did. I guess him saying that it was a fair exchange (an eye for Vhagar) helped rationalize the situation. Justified it. Still wasn't the most ethical way. The Battle Above Gods Eye will bring justice for Laena, Rhaena, and Luke. You mess with one of Daemon's daughters or stepsons, Aemond is going to pay the price for it.

I'd be happy with 9 seasons of build up followed by a 10th of all out war!

Did you see the resemblance of the scene of kids fighting and parents getting involved to what happened in Game of Thrones season 1 episode 2 The Kingsroad. Arya and Joffrey fought, Nymeria attacked Joffrey, Robert trying to solve, but Queen Cersei want's revenge any eye for an eye, she wants the wolf killed. Wasn't this same?

I'm with you on everything you said at the end of your video. I don't care about the Jon Snow spin-off, I lost interest in that character after season 8.

I understand that in the book they actually do kill Laenor, though. So the book was clearly secretly written by D&D, who, as we all know, have nothing better to do than ruin GRRM's female Targaryan characters by making them unnecessarily evil ;) Although, they do kill a random innocent guy in the show. Damn, I'm confused, could GRRM be a "cruel" author who takes moral complexity so far that he sometimes has his "heroes" do horrible things?... 😄

S1E1: The Heirs Of The Dragon 7. S1E6: The Princess And The Queen I generally liked all the episodes. I didn't particularly hate any of them. But Ep 6 remains my least favorite because it didn't give us enough context for some of the scenes. I think Ep 7 did help it out a little explaining that Rhaenyra did sleep with Laenor a few times and why she went to Harwin. Ep 6 and 7 should be looked at as a two-parter like Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2. But Ep 6 just didn't give us enough context by itself and it's the one episode I have least urge to rewatch. But perhaps it's because of that big time jump which meant seeing the new actresses created some awkwardness and disjointedness. Matt Smith said in a recent interview to watch out for Ep 7. It was his fav. Proved he was right. Like others have said, only real issues I had with this episode was the lighting composure. I had a hard time seeing Vhagar flying. But other than that, a masterpiece episode. Maybe the best episode from GOT-verse lore since GOT's Season 6 that gave us "Battle Of The Bastards" and "The Winds Of Winter" which both have 9.9 on IMDb. But how it's directed harks back to GOT's S1-S3 with all its political intrigue. Everybody Hates Aegon. Poor fella. He's becoming like the Meg Griffin in his family. Viserys and Alicent screaming at the top of their lungs at Aegon reminds me of Tommy Chong in Up In Smoke (1978) getting yelled at by his father. Aegon is the type of guy who wants to hang out with The Dude, Walter, and Donny just to go bowling. Give the guy a break, Alicent. He doesn't want the throne. If he doesn't want it, nobody dies. But Alicent became a b-tch mother who wants to control her children's future because it happened to her by her own father. The Dance of the Dragons basically starts from JEALOUSY. And what color represents jealousy? No wonder Alicent wears green. She's become the green-eyed monster. And Cersei was a better mother than Alicent. I don't recall Cersei hitting or screaming at the top of her lungs at Joffrey and he was psycho.

For folks listening to the Fire & Blood audiobook, you're going to end up liking Baela the more you get to know her. She's courageous and has the fighting spirit from her parents. Laena would be proud. Rhaenyra moves up a little this week. Surpasses Corlys and Viserys. Probably my MVP for Ep 7. Her or Aemond claiming Vhagar. Both got slashed badly in this episode. Honorable mention to little Luke for slashing Aemond's eye and only getting a bloody nose for it. The kid actor for Lucerys looks really cute. Alicent stays the same. Only moves down a couple spots because Aemond and Baela passed her this week. Whether you love or hate Alicent, she's a very fascinating character. All she ever did was follow the rules and do what's asked from her father and she's still the one stuck with the unhappy life. While Aemond was ranked 50th last week and moves up as 10th after only two episodes seeing the younger version. I said prior that Aemond could end up being my 2nd favorite character of all-time behind his Unc (and real father? 😜). I just need to see more from Aemond. We'll finally get to see the grown-up version of him which will make him one of the most unpredictable and interesting characters next to Daemon in this series. It's Daemon & Aemond Show for me. If Aemond fought characters like Jaime, Bronn, Tormund, Oberyn, or Euron without Vhagar or any dragon, he would lose. Aemond never reaches his prime ages. He doesn't live long enough to become a real man. I actually dropped Podrick out of my Top 50 because while I like Podrick, I just don't remember him all that clearly except when he had sex with two prostitutes and didn't have to pay for it. I needed to drop Podrick to make room for Baela. I'm still contemplating if I should include "The Masturbating Dragon" known as Aegon II? I find him weirdly entertaining and it's probably unintentional like Viserys. Hey, that's me as a teenager! 🤣 Can't wait when he's riding Sunfyre. Aegon II will probably be featured in a lot of memes after Viserys dies. Maybe I'll put Aegon in my Top 50 next week? Man, poor Criston Cole. Since Ep 5 after ratting himself and Rhaenyra out so easily, the hatred for him keeps getting bigger and bigger. I personally don't think he's a bad person. It's the circumstances he's pushed to the way Alicent is pushed into this craziness by her father. Perhaps Criston does something cool in future episodes and then another annoying moment to piss us off to hate him again. That's how this show works. We love some of these characters and then hate them in the next episode. Then love them again. It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions loving and hating these characters. There's barely any "good" characters in GRRM's story because anything that involves a pursuit for power mostly creates conniving and selfish characters. Even Jon Snow executed a bunch of people including a kid like Ollie. Larys Strong looks like he's never taken a bath in his entire life.. 🤣

Rhaenyra is Daemons direct niece, the daughter of his brother, Viserys while Laena was the daughter of Daemons and Viserys' cousin Rhaenys (the father of Daemon and Viserys and the father of Rhaenys were brothers). So Laena wasn't Daemons direct niece. She was further away from him when it comes to family genetics. Still family, so still incest, but not as closely related as Daemon and Rhaenyra are.

This is beside the point but you're so pretty a natural beauty not looking fake you are real inside and out giving real down to earth reactions. Its refreshing hon.

HI Larissa, I hope all is well, this was my favorite episode of the season. The funeral was sad, wish Laena was around longer. The infighting amongst the children was epic, Vaghar being ridden by Aemond was great! Alicent has reached her breaking point, shes turning into a mad queen.Daemon and Rhaenyra finally getting married was a long time coming. Alicent, Larys and Otto Hightower are a trio of schemers who will do anything to achieve their goals. The lines are drawn for whats to cone. Always look forward to your reaction and point of view.
