Kinda feel bad for Rhaenys. She lost her kids in an instant. yeah, Laenor is alive but she doesn't know it. And she just wants nothing to do with the throne and it's all Corlys' ambition

Based on the show it appeared Aemond was bullied his whole life. I think after claiming that dragon for his own he gained the confidence to finally fight back.

The body that was burned was the guy Daemon killed on the stairs by snapping his neck, off screen, they moved his body quickly dressed him in laynors clothes and put him in the fireplace

The dragon Vhagar has been ridden by Visenya (Argon the Conqueror's first wife and sister), Prince Baelon (Visery's Father), Laenar Velaryon and now Aemond Targaryen. Dragons can bond with anybody of true Valryian blood and it doesn't have to be from parent to offspring 21:00

Criston actually doesn't want to take the eye of Luke, Allicent says "you were sworn to me" and he continues "[sworn] as your protector", but not her personal butcher I made the same mistake the first time I watched that scene

When Criston says, 'As your protector, my Queen.' He means that in the sense that I am only sworn to you as your protector, that's it. The Kingsguard are sworn to the reigning monarch. Criston was telling her...no.

Daemon laughed at the funeral to draw attention off of Rhaenyras boys. As her boys lineage is the elephant in the room

The emotional rollercoaster ride everyone goes on while a few people do anything for power is heart wrenching.

I think the reason Alicent is like this is because of jealously she was forced by her father to bed viserys and had to deal with years being dutiful and passionless sex and baring children while she watches Rhnearys do whatever she wants with no consequences in her mind so she’s become bitter she feels everything she’s sacrificed for the game should be rewarded instead of doing all this work just for it all to be given to Rhenarya

Holy shit, I just realized that Aemond’s sister is a seer. She predicted that Aemond will lose an eye in the last episode.

I have to give the young actor of Aemond a lot of credit for delivering on that line. Now I hope his new actor can do the same for another great line in the future 💯😈

Politically it was a good move with Rhaenyra, Laenor got his freedom, and it will make the enemies feel uneasy not being sure of what Rhaenyra’s capable of. Then she married Daemon, that’ll make her claim to the throne strong, binding their full Targaryen blood.

did y'all catch Rhaenyra's glance at 'the blade.' a reminder of what her father said when he named her heir. she then LET Alicent slice her arm intentionally for all to see. what a bad ass!

Everyone is talking about Leanor freedom but they don't see a poor man's life was sacrificed for their freedom, this shows we each have our own morals even in the fantasy world but judge other's moral.

As the knife scene shows, a big part of the problem is Alicent is jealous of Rhaenyra; she was the obedient good daughter while Rhae constantly rebelled, yet it looks like her friend gets whatever she wants.

I mean if you’re looking for “good guys” to root for you won’t find them. Both teams do bad things eventually, it’s better to pick the team that has the most interesting characters

The dragon Aemond claimed is the biggest of all because she (Vhagar) is the oldest of them all. She was ridden by Visenya, Aegon the Conqueror's sister wife.

Alicent turned dark because of what her father said to her when he got removed as Hand of the King. He said Rhaenyra is going to come for your kids and kill you all because you're a threat to her succession. Alicent believed him and it's been gnawing at her mind ever since it seems, motivating her every action to protect herself and her kids. The sad part is that this behavior has likely lead to creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. If she had stayed Rhaenyra's friend, kept her close, treated her fair and kind, and bonded their kids together, they likely would've had a beautiful relationship.

Glad that Daemon and Rhaenyra gave Laenor his freedom, he wasn't cut out for these mind games. Now he can go on an adventure as he longed for and Rhaenyra can go on the offensive with an equal partner and get her throne.

Cristons "As your protector" wasnt him being ready to comply, its him telling her he is not hers to command like that.

The fact that Rhaenyra spared Laenor doesn't really make her less awful. They killed that guard dude, so they could have a body.

Dragons are not inherited through families. according to lore it is not automatic that Vhagar the big bad dragon (fun fact: is the dragon of Visenya, Aegon the Conqueror´s sister) should pass to Laena´s daughters. the only requirment is that they have Targaryen blood. For example Vhagar before belonging to Laena was Baelon´s Dragon (Viserys and Daemon´ s Father) and yet she landed with Laena. So technically Aemond did not steal Vhagar.

Btw Leanor surviving was teased. In the Stepstones he was the only one backing Daemon and Daemon during Rhaenyra wedding said he respected him as a knight and man and he was talking for him. Also in this ep Rhaenyra said he is a good man. Also even though this twist wasn’t revealed in the books it might explain some other things IYKYK

21:49 Vhaegar bonded to Aemond partly bc he is bold and assertive in coming to claim her, but I also believe she may want a new rider. Remember; she was the dragon young Laena spoke about who was heard singing to herself, Viserys then speculated that she was lonely. I'm thinking she doesn't want to be alone and unbonded again, when a kid with the right genetic background and ballsy attitude showed up , she was willing to accept him. I loved the way Vhagar looked at Aemond when he was telling her to fly like "Are you SURE you don't want to put on a seatbelt first? No? Well let's see what you're made of."

This episode I realized something about Alicent's view on the situation: Rhaenyra gets to escape her duties and carve out some joy in this system whereas Alicent had to forget herself so young for duty and mary the king and because of her moral values doesn't allow herself to do the same as her old friend. There is a sense of impropriety, of jalousy, of rightgeousness... Maybe. So long as Rhaenyra lives the way she lives, Alicent would not accept her imo

This show is incredible. It keeps getting better and better with each new chapter. I personally can't stand, Alicent. But I understand her in a way. I guess what frustrates me most about her is I see a bit of myself in her rage. Living a life you were told to live and being angry at everyone about it. But thanks to years of therapy, I kicked that in the bucket and now I'm a Rhenarya. Live life as I want but still take care of business. 😀

I don't know how things actually occured in the books. But in this series, this would be a good opportunity to secure Princess Rhaenys' allegiance to Rhaenyra by telling her (in secret) that her son is alive safely somewhere away from all of this mess. As far as I can remember that's what Rhaenys truly wanted. The well-being of her family away from the stained clutches of ambition. I believe Rhaenys can keep a secret as such even from her own husband, regardless the trust and love she has for him.

23:01 If you remember in episode 5, when her father was leaving, he told her very clearly that King will die someday and if Rhaenyra succeeds him, war would follow as the realm would never accept her and to secure her claim, she might have to put Alicent's children to the sword. This is why Alicent fears her and has become the way she is. She wants Aegon to be the next King.

Aemond was 10 year old when he claimed the second biggest dragon to ever lived.

Regarding Aemond Achira was right he did it first plus Vhagar is one of the oldest dragons her sibling the original 3 are gone plus countless riders she is lonely. That was also why she was so reluctant to kill Laena last ep. Also Aemond eye was foreshadowed by Helaena (Alicent daughter) in the last ep you might want to pay attention to what she says

I love that Jace and Luke are very supportive and protective towards each other, while Aemond and Aegon don't give a shit about each other. That's a cool contrast showing how parenting can affect children in a good and in bad way.

Aemond claiming Vhagar is best HOTD scene so far no matter who you are rooting for, the actor and dragon played it so well.

Ha, hadn't heard that saying in a while from the after credits spot, "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye". Another great episode. Team Black all the way.

Every last ounce of motivation, for both sides, has been so carefully drawn over the previous episodes to lead us this moment. However extreme the actions and conflict from here on in, we can appreciate why. Those who are not watching HotD yet because they're for it waiting to "warm up" are going to have missed SO, so much.

They changed Laenor's fate from the books where they do really kill him. It doesn't hurt the story and it definitely prevents the 'Of course they killed the gay guy!' Twitter shitstorm that was about to happen.

This episode was huge and amazing. 10/10

If Vicerys was to punish Alicent for stabbing Rhaenyra then he would have had to punish Jace for taking Aemond's eye. He is NOT that kind of king and hates conflict and avoids dealing with it. He's been that way the entire show. Sad that Rhaenyra didn't use that occasion to come clean about the boy's father and just ask Vicerys to legitimize them once and for all. She has never grown up or taken any responsibility for her actions and bad decisions. She chose to kill an innocent servant for their lies and more indulgence.

Maybe you guys didnt notice but daemon killed a man that looked like laenor so people would think it was him. His and rhaenyra's plan was never to actually kill laenor

I feel it should be mentioned that Ser Cristan stated he was sworn to the Queen as her protector, meaning he cannot step in to exact the queen's judgement. It was his admission that the drama was way over his pay grade.

My understanding is the daughter didn’t even attempt to claim vhaegar at that point which is why aemond told her she should’ve claimed the dragon so he got to claim before she did.

15:03 It was crazy to me that Criston Cole got away with murdering someone in episode 5. So now it isn't so far fetched (that's a problem the show has IMO) that the Queen got away with assaulting the heir to the throne.

Okay, I watched again and saw where Daman said to give Lenor his freedom, but that was His idea. I am annoyed that even though I understand why the King supported Rhaenyra and her son's, he couldn't be bothered to support Alicent and his own son. Alicent might be jealous but she has done everything asked of her and Rhaenyra has had had her (beef) cake and ate it too😉. Count me team Alicent..we'll see what happens

I think I'm a firm Team Black supporter. Daemon isn't the greatest guy by any means but at least they aren't trying to instigate a war. Alicent was offered a marriage alliance uniting the two branches of House Targaryen but she denied it.

Laena told her daughter to claim your dragon. Aemond just did it first it was disingenuous but you snooze you lose. But as his sister Haelena prophesied 'he'll have to lose an eye'. In the end 'he lost an eye but gained a dragon.' Vhagar the oldest, largest, most battle tested dragon in the world. This makes Team Green a force to be reckoned with. This is Aemond's supervillain origin story in House of the Dragon an you haven't seen nothing yet.

The dragon does not be y go to the children. It can reject a child of its rider, but the main thing is that Aemond got there first. The point with Alicent is that a lot of poison has been whispered in Alicents ears. However, Alicent is a B##th!!! Alicent is save bc she is queen . Also, Viserys could not punish her bc after everything he does not want to rock that boat! I really loved the episode. I was a nervous wreck through the whole episode 😱😱

Approaching a dragon like that could go either, Aemond could have been burned alive (I doubt Vhagar would do that to Leana's kid but she could still get regected) and that to the fact that they're still in the middle of their mothers funeral it makes sense why they chose to wait before approaching the Dragon. I've also heard people say Dragon's have a "type" and it makes sense. All of Vhagar previous riders can be firmly placed in the "bold" category so yeah.

Vhagar is currently the largest dragon and full grown. Its in the last stages of life span. Wont survive beyond 8 to 10 years from current timeline.

The reason Alicent gets away with it is because Viserys hates confrontation. When he decides the quarrel is over that means the quarrel is over. How is he supposed to punish her? Their son lost an eye and gained a dragon and he threatened to remove her tongue if she spoke of Rhaenyras children being bastards again. If anyone spoke of that again he'd remove their tongue. He recognizes that Alicent is being consumed by a mother's anger at her child being forever damaged.

Ngl the shots in this episode were some of the best best shots Cinematography was exceptional ! Either it be the dragon riding shots or the shots in which and Rhynera is entering the scene and Alicent and Sir Criston have the same look with a smirk on their face in one frame

The Dragon's true master is long since dead because it belonged to one of Aegons sisters. Who was the First Targ Queen? Daemon's wife is dead. Dragons choose their riders. It's not about birthright.

That VHAGAR was one of the three dragons used to conquer Westeros. Balerion by Aegon, Meraxes by Rhaenys, and Vhagar riden by Visenya. That's why Vhagar is the largest.

I think daemon laughed in funeral because they were talking about how blood runs thick in their house...and daemon said same thing to viserys once in ep 1...so it made him laugh how it's just a farce....and also Otto is back as hand so blood is getting thinner too.

I lost all respect for Allicent last episode when she didn’t have Larys arrested for killing his dad and brother. She claims to be good and perfect and nice but was willing to stay silent when it suits her.

I'm a guy who love action and dragons but this episode so drama and I love it feels like we getting close to the war

The body wasnt fake, it was the serveant who was killed in the scene before. Its nice that Leanor is alive but Rheanerys still had no problem with some1 getting murdered to fullfill the plan.

Keep in mind that an innocent person was killed so that Rheanyra's plan to free herself of her husband could work.

In the book Leanor dies. There is no final twist. Rhaenyra and Daemon are not the “good guys”.Simply because there are no good guys in this story.

It was well and truly said about the Iron Throne "It is the most dangerous seat in Westeros". Glad that Laenor is alive in the end. Feel equally bad for Rhaenys, she lost her daughter and son (hypothetically). Also, keep an eye, both ironically and literally, on Aemond Targaryen. That boy is going to go places. Going after Vhagar knowing he is the biggest dragon in all of Westeros, fighting his cousins 4 on 1, lost an eye and still had the tenacity to speak that Its okay, I may have lost an eye but I have fetched the biggest dragon ever. And Finally, HOTD is going places too finally. Episode 7 was the BEST until now.

Alicent was forced by her father to marry the king, she was shaped to care about her succession and lineage and sacrifices to make it happen. She completely ingored all of her feelings and desires to grant her father his wish. He literally shaped her to go crazy. She has ( as so many other women in those times) sacrficed her own happiness and wellbeing to make her family happy (her father). When she sees Rheanyra love who she wants to, and pursue her own happiness with no consequenses, she obviously feel like she's been tricked and set up. being a queen was not "happiness" as probably her father fed her early on. Yes it is partly jealousy as well as caring for her kids future, but mostly because she lives in missery. Its very well portrayed, her having sex with the king (no enjoyment, it is sexual assault as she's being called to the chamber to do her duty with no wishes of her own to do that), her giving birth to kids, holding her baby crying (no enjoyment), her being forced to endure all of this with an old ugly man who she obviously do not love. it doesn't matter if he is kind, she still doesn't love him or wants to have sex with him obviously. The only motivation there is, is to make her father happy. Its all she has. She represents women in medieval times, they weren't happy, they were oppressed and used by their family for politics. I do not blame Alicent for becoming like this at all, it makes sense. I would have hated the show if they kept Alicent "good". Because what kind of message does that send? That marrying a dude that could be your father/grandfather and being forced to have sex with him is healthy for your mental health??

"That was a pretty good plan." Yeah it was great. And they are great folks that deserve our respect. And yet they killed an innocent servant on Drfiftmark (smallfolk no doubt) just to further her own selfishness and deceit. These are NOT good people doing great things. I'm starting to lean towards Alicent. At least she grew up and learned who these people really are. Rhae never grew up. She is still selfish and self destructive.

Daemon killing that guy in the hallway didn't make sense to me until I saw that they needed a body to burn for evidence. I'm glad the writers left the plan unspoken, as the shock was needed.

so the guy daemon killed was the one that was in the fire. so when Damon was talking to the boyfriend he told him there's a place across the narrow sea giving them the hint that they both could live out there the way they want without any judgment. so he knew about it. that's why he killed the other guy from for them to use in the fire.

At This Point The Bloodlines Are So Mixed That I Think Viserys Should Just Give The Throne To Dameon. Dameon Is Not The King That People Deserve But He Is The King That People Desperately Need Right Now For All The Chaos That Is Going On...

I understand Alicent’s fears. If Rhaenyra can have three bastards and openly lie about them, and her son can take one of Alicent’s son's eye with no consequences at all, what’s to stop Rhaenyra from killing Alicent’s kids down the line?

6:04 Vhagar is the second largest dragon to ever exist in this universe. Second to Balerion(the giant Dragon Skull we’ve seen in GOT and HOTD). Aemond losing his eye was unfortunate. Cause even though he insulted one of the sisters it wasn’t enough to warrant attacking him. Like technically they all attack him first. First sister ran up and grabbed him, he threw her down. The second punched him, and he punched her back. Then the brothers got involved.
